Hurricane Maria

No, you have to have a reason. Not wanting to go is not a covered reason.

The google results I find seem to state otherwise. For example:

https://www.insuremytrip.com/travel-insurance-plans-coverages/trip-cancellation-vs-cancel-for-any-reason/

"With CFAR, it doesn't matter why you have to cancel your trip – you just can."

Do you have cancel for no reason at all or what? I realized last cruise that I had cancel for any of 1,000 reasons but no reason at all. I want to buy cancel for no reason. Like, nothing happened; I just don't want to go.

Who sells that and what is it called? Thanks.

After having a chat with Travel Guard and them saying because of flights being cancelled, natural disaster, and so on, I would be entitle to full reimbursement. The lady said they'd call Royal and tell them to keep their credit. I immediately cancelled and booked Harmony leaving tomorrow.

Fanning flames? It is a disaster area with corresponding disaster scenarios.

Sure! Pix of some siding off the Marriott... stay somewhere else. Stop posting photos from your news at home. ROYAL has the best info. From gvmt officials... not news media known for creating hysteria. Chill and wait for RCCL. (If you are even on an upcoming cruise.)

would you really fly to SJU for a 3 night cruise?

Not likely it will happen anyway. SW has cancelled all flights through end of month. Other lines may follow

Southwest has not cancelled all flights through the end of the month. From the Southwest website just now:

Our San Juan (SJU) scheduled service is cancelled for today, September 22. Rest assured that Southwest Airlines continues to evaluate the airport facilities and city infrastructure, and this information will be key in our decision regarding the number of flights we will be able to provide in the coming days. Before heading to the airport, please check flight status information.

There is indeed "cancel for any reason" insurance that you may elect to purchase. It does allow you to cancel for anything not covered in the standard cancellation policy, but the renumeration terms are usually different.

Typically what i have seen when shopping it, the cost has been 2X, and the payback is 75%, minus cost of policy.

Yes, those must be gold plans. We wanted to cancel our last cruise because my son's high school golf team made it to district and he wanted to play. That was not a covered reason in our plan.

We enjoyed the cruise and are glad we were forced to go, but the hurricane issues really bring up a cancel for no reason policy.

Just because you can't do a dummy booking doesn't mean all flights are cancelled. As of 9:30est tonight they have not been canceled through the end of the month. I just got off the phone with SW.

Just saw this on the Marriott Stellaris Facebook page. We have this hotel booked for our cruise in November but since they don't list any specifics on timeframe I'm going to hold off on canceling. We'll see what happens down the road.

Due to Hurricane Maria, the San Juan Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino is not taking any new reservations at this time. We are currently assessing the damage and will provide updates as they are available. The safety of our guests and associates is always a top priority and there are no reported injuries at this time. We are waiving cancellation and change fees for specific arrival dates and suggest our customers call 1-800-228-9290 for more information about their reservations. Those in countries outside of the United States seeking information about their reservations should call the Marriott toll-free number in their country. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this storm.

Marriott International has established a resource line for those looking for information about guests and associates who may have been impacted by the hurricane. The number is (866) 211-4610. For those calling outside the U.S. and Canada, the number is +1 402-390-3265. The resource line is staffed from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. (ET).

Not convinced those onboard are getting as much information as those on mainland with TV, high speed internet, social media, etc.

For frame of reference, I ordered products on Sep 3 and Sep 4 from Amazon ahead of Irma. Thought I was smart and saving trip to Home Depot. Both had GUARANTEED delivery by Wed Sep 6. Email Sep 6, GTY Delivery by 8PM on Sep 7. We were due for storm to hit at night on 9/9 into daytime on 9/10. Despite having made it to local hub by Tuesday 9/5, my items were not delivered until Wed 9/13. That is to say just because a hotel shows on Kayak as being able to be booked for tomorrow doesn't mean the hotel is operational or available in San Juan.

OTBE.

Please. Put your iPhone down. You can list all the ifs you want.

The truth is that RCCL is not going to put any customers in harm's way. They have done everything they can to help those of us who are on their ships now: free WiFi, a room with laptops and free phone service, paying any airline change fees, etc. They will do the same for the next group of passengers. They know a lot more about conditions than you. If you don't have a dog in the fight and are just fanning the flames that helps no one. If you have a cruise in the next week, wait for news from RCCL. Now I'm going for a 1/2 price drink.

I believe I'm on the 9/16 Adventure cruise with you now, and I agree 100% with you. RCI is working their tails off for us. Well put, and thank you.

I think part of the problem is that people with Sprint don't have service in PR right now and information in general is just starting to trickle out.

The governor stated there is a humanitarian crisis in Puerto Rico with lack of clean drinking water a primary concern along with medical care and tropical diseases.

The children's hospital is begging for diesel fuel tonight as they are critically low and don't have enough for generators to last until tomorrow.

The island has black out conditions every night with the majority of the island not running lights and generators because of the lack of fuel.

US marines landed today to begin search and rescue operations.

can't back your own declaration...

He won't answer you, to many half priced drinks.

OP is quiet now too.

I posted early on in this thread, that if Maria went through, Saturday would be out of question. Keep posting all the Info, haven't heard from my friends. One has a flight out for Tuesday with American booked 3 months ago. Not he can even get to the airport from the east end . Flights are having to turn around.

Thanks

And if he does it's to tell people to put their phone down, stop posting, and chill out.

I had a reservation there and before they cancelled the Adventure that was supposed to leave today, I called the hotel directly to check on status. They asked if I had a reservation and then said it was open for those who had reservations. I'd hold off. a lot can happen in a month

A friend called the Stellaris yesterday to ask about the hotel for early December. He said there was music in the background and that the agent assured him things were fine there and they were getting things cleaned up. My friend (a police officer) offered to fly down and help with the clean up and the agent replied.."No need sir. We have got it handled".
