  1. Not for the YC Breakfast room service. As yo can see, it is fairly basic. For eggs, you need to got to the restaurant or the One Pool deck.
  2. We've done it at least once on our B2B's. Remember, YC breakfast service is fairly basic.
  3. I meant the room that was getting late croissants and coffee. They may have been doing a B2B so didn't have to be out of the room by 6:30.
  4. Possibly a room that had people doing a b2b. We've enjoyed the "late" breakfast when doing a b2b.
  5. Here's a few links: https://thepointsguy.com/guide/cruising-ducks/ https://cruiseradio.net/everything-you-need-to-know-about-cruise-ducks/
  6. The C in MSC does not stand for "Consistency." 😁
  7. Oh dear, David! I think you have just firmly placed yourself in the position of chair umpire at a tennis match! I can see the ball (comments) flying all over on both sides of the net. Well played, sir! Well played!
  8. We've only done YC in the last three years. There, room cleaning was done twice daily. I think that it is still twice a day for all rooms, at least on US sailings. The same rate is unusual, but so is MSC! They also do not recommend tipping individual staff, but I would wager that most of their staff prefer to get assigned to ships sailing out of US ports where tipping of individuals is a regular activity.
  9. Very similar to our impression last March! The port had just opened then, and was clearly a work in progress. However, we were struck by how clean and organized it was. It is almost as if the developers studied what was wrong with the layouts of Costa Maya and Grand Turk, and designed it for smooth traffic flow and use of bright open spaces. Sounds as if it has come a long way since that time. Looking forward to a return visit.
  10. With YC, there is no added charge on any drink you get. I have not figured out how to prepay the service charge. Just know that it will be $14.00/person/day. and budget accordingly. The service charge is the only additional charge, and is the same rate for YC as for all other classes of travel.
  11. While the shuttle price is $22, please consider taking a cab or ride service instead. The shuttle cost is per person, so $44 for two people. A taxi is under $30 for up to four people. For the shuttle, you may have to wait until the bus is full before you go. For the taxi, there is no wait.
  12. Make sure you get the names of outstanding employees' names. Make sure to put their names in the survey you will get an invitation to completed when you are back. Gives them a reward of some extra time off and the chance for department employee of the month (with a cash reward).
  13. Best of luck. To be safe, I would send you letter in electronically to mscexistingreservations@msccruisesusa.com. They will send you a response quickly to acknowledge your message.
  14. Morgsmom is correct. There is no chair lift in the pool on The One Deck. For the YC beach area, while there is a hill to get down to the beach, but the Cay does have "beach" wheelchairs with the oversize tires. When on board, I would remind the concierge to make sure a beach chair is reserved for you. One YC guest used on at the YC beach, but had to be assisted up and down by a few of the lifeguard/attendants at the beach. It would help if you outline your needs in the Special Needs form. You can detail the type of wheelchair you are bringing or need on board, among other things. Here is a pdf of the form attached. Special-Needs-ENG-BASIC FORM.pdf
  15. Good point, and you may have to ask more than one staff member. The port staff are really contractors, so individuals may know their job and tasks, but may not know the subtleties of all the logistics. If they are use to working certain lines, the concept of "Diamond" status may be foreign to them.
  16. In the case of an officer's family, they typically have rooms in the YC area already, so for them it's okay. On every MSC YC sailing we have been on, we have met family of officers (some who were sailing on duty and some who were on leave or vacation). I have no problem with that.
  17. Well, you did finally catch on to being correct on that!☺️
  18. I'm a non-smoker too. Hope it works out for you!
  19. Don't know if you smoke or not, but be aware that when we were on MSC Meraglia, the Bamboo pool area allowed smoking on the port side (different from the normal use of Starboard side for MSC). There is a tendency for the area to fill up with overflow from the buffet area.
  20. This is MSC's hallmark! An individual can relate their personal experience, andsomeone else can have an opposite experience. Neither is incorrect!
  21. We found the best place was Seaview Lounge (mid-ship, starboard side on deck 8). They open at 7:00, and they have complementary pastries as well. It was quiet and no real waiting for service.
