  1. It's not just Greek Orthodox. January 6 is Epiphany - or Three Kings Day - and is the 12th day of Christmas.
  2. If it were for something essential to life I'd agree. But it's a non-necessity. If anything they're doing you a favor for your health if it makes you reconsider upgrading.
  3. I'd think it would have happened before now as other cruise lines have had the "all must purchase" for years now.
  4. To clarify, I said I asked the woman who own the travel agency I use - who was on the naming cruise - about it and at that point TAs had not been given any information that it was permanent. And she had asked since she figured, like I did from the reports, that it was a staffing issue and/or something special for that cruise. SHE ASKED and was told it was not permanent. Clearly Celebrity gave her false information. Which honestly doesn't make me want to stick with them beyond this summer's cruise to use up my NRD - if they're going to lie to people who are supposed to be selling their product... Not a good look.
  5. This. "No. Gracias." if you're approached. But even better is to basically have blinders on. Don't look to one side or the other and walk purposefully. If you're walking slowly and looking around, they're going to think you're interested or they can entice you. If there's no chance for eye contact, it's going to be a lot harder for them to get your attention.
  6. ABSOLUTELY! I was on a 12-night cruise r/t from Barcelona all around Italy (RCCL) about a month after being diagnosed with a wheat allergy and ergo eating gluten-free. The night before we got into Venice, my server and the head server for the area apologized that there was only raisin gluten-free bread (I declined because to me raisin bread is breakfast, not dinner)but that more would be there the following day as they were getting more supplies and provisions (since Venice was an embarkation point for them also). He explained that they always order at least 10% more gluten-free bread, etc. than would be indicated for people reporting needing to be gluten-free, but on this cruise there were significantly more people requesting it. So yes, definitely report it!!
  7. To be fair, I've heard the same things even without a connecting door in between the cabins. Even without the door they are NOT soundproof. It's all going to depend on who is in the cabin(s) next door and how loud they are. Some people simply don't have inside voices.
  8. It's stated as being an exception. If one is claiming recovering alcoholic, the other would be able to get the beverage package. I'd hope they figure out a way to police that so that those claiming an exception absolutely cannot get drinks from the other in the party. Otherwise it may become that the exception goes away OR both would be required to do the non-alc package.
  9. I don't know how many accessible FV cabins they have, but unless they are showing available, I would not risk it. They're not going to kick someone out of their booked room just because you bid when you absolutely had to have accessible. IOW, I wouldn't risk it.
  10. The exceptions say "recovering alcoholic" so if that applies, then there should be an exception. Not sure if "I just decided not to drink" counts though.
  11. I've heard that other lines require you to present all cards if ordering multiple drinks. Not that big of a deal. And you'd only be walking back and forth "all vacation" if you were sharing the package with someone else. Or have zero desire to remember your vacation.
  12. Bingo. The people who buy one package and then drinks for all of drinking age in their cabins bear the blame for this one. (And honestly? I hope they have a way to code the cards of those given an addiction or medical based exemption and those of the others in the stateroom so that it's evident if people are claiming that to skirt the system.)
  13. This. The people who say "I saw one once and that was enough" drive me batty. Seeing it and experiencing it are two totally different things.
  14. What I've done is used cruises to get a taste for ports and decide which I want to go back to visit on a land-based trip. (And which I can skip.)
  15. And if they did, I'd expect them to NOT waive the specialty restaurant cover charge and to charge them for drinks just as if they were dining in the restaurant.
  16. Probably not absolutely normal, but not unheard of. There could have been a family emergency that the prior captain needed to deal with or something else.
  17. I sailed on the Edge in Feb 2020 and am gluten-free. I did NOT order ahead the night before and never had an issue. I was even able to get French Onion Soup without the bread in it. I had never heard of them moving servers from MDR to MDR on an E-class ship until someone mentioned it here. I understood that servers were assigned to a specific MDR only. (When I have done order ahead because I was in the same MDR (RCCL) or with the same servers (Disney) my food has never been cold.) I will say at breakfast, unless you want something like gf pancakes and an omelette, have the server check about the gf pancakes (should NOT be an issue unless a lot has changed) first. When I was on the Edge, I went to seated breakfast once and said (after asking and my server saying they would check) "If they can do the pancakes, then the pancakes. If they can't, then an omelette." I got both.
  18. There is generally an area with special artificial turf for them to use. And one on the balcony if they are in a cabin with one.
  19. Well, I guess I can't see my Planner - just the Manage My Reservations screen. Even if I click on the drop down link for Dining or Shore Excursions, it just refreshes the page or takes me to the Manage My Reservations page. I've tried on Safari and Chrome (both regular and incognito). I did just change to this Summit cruise in July 2023 this morning...could it be that it needs 24 hours for the Planner to show up? (It's never happened before when I've made or changed a reservation, but there's always a first). Or is this typical Celebrity IT gremlins? (I wouldn't worry about it immediately, but there are a couple of excursions I'd like to plan for my birthday and would rather know sooner than later if they're already sold out.)
  20. The same could be said for a balcony room. As long as you're not leaving the top half down - and don't operate the switch in your sleep - there should be no issue. Actually, I just watched my video tour of my solo IV and you can yourself lock the IV from the control panel. So if you're a sleepwalker and worried about putting the top down in your sleep, just lock the window from the panel.)
  21. Also, there are times when there are currents underneath the water that make things impossible even if the surface looks calm and the weather is clear and calm. It's really difficult for the crew to explain to passengers whose excursions, etc. are affected by unseeable currents on "calm and clear" days.(I know it can be a major issue with Disney's private island as they have a narrow channel to get to the dock and it can be very current-y below the surface even though it's "a beautiful day" outside.)
