  1. Just my 2 cents...... it sounds to me like eating in expensive restaurants is not something that you place a high value on at home. I'm not sure why it would be any different on a cruise ship. I say skip the specialty restaurants. Spend your money on the things you value most.
  2. I agree both Vegas and New Orleans have lost much of their appeal, but I've never considered them bucket list items...... of course if I'd never been to either of them they very well might have made the list. Funny how that works.
  3. Just curious..... was there an option to bring the suitcases with you to the hospital and then along with you when you eventually traveled home?
  4. Wow how rude of them. Worse.... they probably had towels "reserving" their pool lounges while they were squatting at your cabana 🙄
  5. Not sure how long ago this was, but it seems the crime situation in Jamaica is continuing to deteriorate and is even reaching the all inclusive resorts. I haven't stayed at an all inclusive in Jamaica, but I have recently stayed at one in Cancun. As a rule I don't visit Mexico for a number of reasons, but I have found that staying at high-end all inclusive resorts there insulates me from the down sides. There recently have been a few serious crimes reported at Mexican all inclusive resorts and if this worsens I'll have to drop Mexico from my travels altogether. For now I think it's still safe at the better all inclusive resorts and most of the crime doesn't target tourists. I don't have experience with Jamaican resorts, but I hope crime isn't becoming a major problem there. This is from the recent update of the US travel advisory for Jamaica.... The U.S. State Department on Oct. 5 issued a level 3 travel advisory, indicating that Americans should “reconsider travel” due to an increased risk of crime in the country. The advisory noted that “violent crimes, such as home invasions, armed robberies, sexual assaults and homicides, are common” and that “sexual assaults occur frequently,” even at all-inclusive resorts.
  6. Like I said.... to each their own. I love chips and salsa! Chips and salsa along with a margarita in a Mexican restaurant is one of life's simple pleasures for me. The risk may not be worth it for you. Certainly there's a chance that chips may be contaminated before being served - just as there is a chance cookies may be contaminated on a buffet. In such a case, eating with a napkin will offer no protection inho, but you seem to have expertise in this area so I may be wrong. We're all different and that's OK. I feel I may have offended you by expressing a differing viewpoint/having a different risk tolerance and that was not my intention.
  7. To each their own. Call me a daredevil but I'll continue to live on the wild side and eat cookies with my hands. I'm sure you're not alone, but I really can't recall ever seeing anyone eat a cookie with a knife and fork.
  8. Forgive my ignorance, but what are "3 man tours"?
  9. I would agree. Seems to me Princess isn't being exactly upfront about this.
  10. No way I'd order steak and eggs period! I'm sure there may be a rare exception, but I've never seen steak and eggs come with anything other than a thin, over cooked, steak.
  11. Maybe not. The article points out that Boats over 65 feet are already subject to a speed restriction - although I don't know what that restriction is or if this changes it.
  12. Kind of a strange situation when customers are eager to sail BEFORE the company "improves" the ship by Revolutionizing it.
  13. Congratulations! I believe you win the Unpopular Opinion contest🏆
  14. I know there are frequent post warning that you must rush to the Sanctuary immediately upon boarding to reserve the Sanctuary. I don't have any experience booking the Sanctuary on shorter Caribbean cruises, but I have booked it twice on longer tropical itineraries for all sea days and the Sanctuary was never close to fully booked. The Cabanas were always available. imho if you go to the Sanctuary once you board, you will have no problem making your reservations.
  15. The only people I can imagine who support commission based advisors over fee based are..... you guessed it - commission based advisors.
  16. You're welcome. The underlying "technology" behind reliefband - acustimulation - is unchanged. Their claim is that by emitting pulses that stimulate the median nerve in the wrist it reduces nausea and motion sickness.
  17. Science says they don't work, but if you think it helps you - go for it. Efficacy of acupressure and acustimulation bands for the prevention of motion sickness
  18. Really? Wow. Most other cruise lines are sailing at or near capacity. Is it common that VV is still sailing at such low capacity? If so, I'd say there's trouble ahead for VV.
  19. I've got to say I love your writing style. Great travel report!
  20. I'm guessing they think adding lame humor to the error message will make you feel better.
  21. Thanks. I just thought this incident was kind of interesting because I've seen numerous posts of people sitting calmly by windows as waves washed up totally covering the window. I'm thinking if I ever experience this I'll move on up to a higher deck🌊
  22. One person died and four others were injured after a giant "rogue wave" hit an Antarctica-bound cruise ship, travel company Viking said. (This happened Tuesday) https://news.yahoo.com/giant-rogue-wave-hits-antartica-144147601.html
