  1. Wel, there are still 3 Morocco ports and Ile de Goree in Senegal (as present). And there is more to do in Tenerife than the beach, at least a chance to walk around in between sea days. I was on three of the islands in December, very different, Lanzarote very dry (closest to the Sahara), and more lush as you go West. Port congestion? Must be commercial traffic, not many cruise ships go there. Why are the expedition ships "not the best for sea days"? Not enough to do, too unstable? It's my first time on Seabourn's expedition ships. Also have another booked for the fall, so interested why you mention this.
  2. Can't help, Lord H., since I've never received one! 🙃
  3. What brand is the soap, shampoo, lotion in the bath? Is there a choice? Large or small bottles?
  4. Not sure about Regent, but Silversea offers bus transportation from the port to airport regardless if you purchased Air from them. You might check onboard and yhen could cancel your private car. Destinations desk will set the parameters, e.g., "if your flight is before ---, you can purchase the bus option".
  5. If the Waitlist is not an option, I learned why after calling Regent. It was the island of Guernsey, and I was told there were no more suppliers (guides, buses, etc.) Don't know if there are several other ships in the same day. But, checking when onboard and morning-of are always options.
  6. Not sure we're on the same voyage, but your debark on Monday indicates that we are: Reykjavik-Southampton, 18 days. I booked my Air with Regent, and they have me on a Virgin flight at 12:45P from Heathrow to Atlanta so assume they feel that is sufficient time to make the flight. We arrive at 7:00AM, always an estimate, so perhaps we will be in the first group to debark.
  7. My experience is that "complimentary premium spirits" is accurate, "fine wines" less so 🍹
  8. If you book a reservation for Sagrada Familia, even day of the visit, you can bypass what can be very long lines.
  9. Click on Offers, then Solo Travelers
  10. Isn't this just a problem with reserving the three specialty restaurants, not Compass Rose, which is open seating. And after all passengers have had a chance to have one dinner at them, there are always opportunities for additional evenings by checking with maitre'ds. Seems like Sette Mari should be reserved seating too since there appears to be a line before opening. Could favor late diners, though.
  11. Traveling solo last year on Silversea (not Silverseas), I couldn't disagree more about welcoming solos. There is a cocktail get-together nightly, and some, not all, go on to dinner together. Viking treated me as a solo as persona non grata. Regent I haven't sailed since Covid (have a cruise planned this summer), so can't comment. It sometimes takes some preemptive activity to arrange solo dining with these lines. Seabourn, I agree, is the best. Very pro-active, printed invitations almost daily if you request it. Accept or decline, easy-peasy. I'll be on Venture, first time, soon and am anxious to see if the invitations still come 🙂.
  12. None for me here in Florida. I'm Platinum level but haven't sailed since Covid (plan to this summer on Splendor), so maybe only recent cruisers?
  13. Have you seen it printed somewhere that there is a discount or included if more than $149. News to me, but anything's possible.
  14. Bored after 2 weeks? I think cruisers have a misconception about food onboard. Don't expect it's like going to a different restaurant on land every night. "Breakfasts were the same"? What do you expect for breakfast? Fresh fruit, pastry, eggs any way, several meats, salmon, fresh-squeezed juice. Yeah, that's real boring! And "institutionalized"? Like prison? I was on Silver Dawn two voyages, a total of 5 weeks last year and found something different to eat each time at La Terrazza. I sure hope no one is making a decision to not sail with Silversea based on your review. What ship are you sailing next?
  15. Just saw on website: bocce and paddle tennis. Same court as pickleball, just different equipment?
  16. Anybody know about activities on Splendor? Same as Grandeur? Pickleb all and classes?
  17. Has anyone been in the Venture Veranda Spa Suite? There are 2 and 1 Penthouse. I think I read somewhere there were steps involved to access it, or is that on the classic ships? Entrance is opposite the Spa treatment rooms and down a corridor to the Fitness Center (sweaty bodies? 😁). It's classified as a V4. Curious whether it's the same size as the other V1-4 verandas.

  19. I agree. And for those who do intentionally take them, what a surprise when the cost is added to their final bill.
  20. Do you know the name of the comedian? They usually perform for 2 nights. Steve Stevens was on Dawn last month.; most attendees enjoyed him; he also plays a few musical instruments.
