Infinite Veranda Can Closed be the Bridge
CruisinNole replied to clarkgriswold's topic in Celebrity Cruises
The infinite window was closed twice while on a Caribbean cruise. Both times it was due to severe thunderstorms. It was the first time that we were able to sit on our veranda during a storm. Didn't mind at all. I also believe that the windows are closed when being cleaned. -
I'm pretty sure that the person in the 2nd photo above is wearing sandals. We've taken the tour and people have been turned away for not wearing closed toe shoes. I guess it depends on the person leading the tour.

My definition of strenuous is different
CruisinNole replied to temple1's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I have a feeling that this warning is on all exursions involving a stop at a beach in the Caribbean. You certainly do not need to swim in the ocean but more than likely, you'll have to climb down a ladder and swim or wade to the beach. -

CruisinNole replied to Patcap38's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I logged into the website this morning with my password. No problem. I installed the app this afternoon on my Android phone and logged in with the same password. No problem. -
Cruising on RCCL to visit a plantation
CruisinNole replied to beshears's topic in Royal Caribbean International
There are plantation tours in the Caribbean -- St. Lucia- banana plantation, for example. -
The Time in Tampa : Sunshine Skyway Bridge
CruisinNole replied to RCCL Fan's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We were dining in Chops the last time we sailed out of Tampa and the ship's photographer took a great photo of us going under the bridge. It was between 6:30 and 7:00. -
Maximum Age Limits for Shore Excursions
CruisinNole replied to loveandcruises's topic in Royal Caribbean International
There really appears to be no rhyme or reason. We're going on cruise later in the year that goes to Cozumel and Costa Maya. We've been there many, many times so we won't be booking a tour but I looked at two city tours in Cozumel. Both are designated as moderate activity. Open Top Sightseeing Bus With Walking Tour and Beach Break has no weight/age restrictions. Cozumel City Tour By Trolley (no walking or beach) has a max age of 75 and max weight. Wheelchairs and scooters are OK. -
I booked a cruise online a couple of weeks ago. I selected Military where you enter promo. One wasn't available but the option appears to still be there. I think I received the discount one time on Royal in 35 years of cruising with the cruise line.

That's what I said. You would have to rent an e-scooter, not drive your personal e-scooter. From the US Dept of State, Bermuda International Travel and Transportation: "Road Conditions and Safety: Driving on the island is on the left, British-style, and the maximum speed limit is 15 mph in Hamilton and 21 mph on the rest of the island. Under Bermudian law, non-residents are not allowed to own, rent, or drive four-wheeled vehicles, except for a limited number of all electric rental mini cars that hold two passengers. Non-residents must rely on taxis, buses, or rental scooters."

We cruised for the first time in 1990 on Song of America.

In 2020, in the midst of Covid, I contracted shingles in one eye. I had a mild case but still take an antiviral and use steroid drops. I had received the original 1 dose shingles vaccine in 2012 and the 2 dose Shingrix in 2018. I, of course, whined about getting shingles after getting the vaccine and my eye doctor told me two things that have become my mantra. First, no vaccine is 100% effective. Second, being vaccinated can lessen the symptoms and severity of the disease.

A few years ago on a Celebrity cruise, I attended a Q&A with the Captain. A woman stands up and starts to ask a question about crew wages and working conditions. I say "starts" because the captain shut her down immediately. I don't remember his exact words but they were on the order of, "That's not your business. Next question." I don't ask a hotel housekeeper how much she makes or if she has to pay for internet. When I worked, I never discussed my salary or working conditions with a customer. I was taught at a young age that it is not polite to ask people how much they make. And I never discuss salary or working conditions with a cruise ship employee. It's not my business.

Black out curtain for Infinite Balcony?
CruisinNole replied to sandinmyshoes's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Would your husband wear a sleep eye mask? -
Me too. I figured it was because, for the first time in 15 years, we don't have a Celebrity cruise booked.

To return to the topic, we booked the Alcove because we had a ton of OBC. We live in Florida but don't like to spend a lot of time in the sun. We like the Solarium and don't miss looking at the ocean for a few hours. We enjoyed the Alcove and felt we got our money's worth. It was fun watching a movie -- "Casablanca". It was a port day so the cost was a little less. And there's no dress code.

Icon 2 named STAR of the SEAS
CruisinNole replied to Fairsky84's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I like Star of the Seas. Of course, I'm biased since Starr is my middle name. -
We are frequent Celebrity cruisers also but we prefer suites and while the Celebrity suite experience is great, the prices are not. Royal doesn't offer much for suites on the smaller ships but we feel that it's good for the price. The food in the MDR was better than expected. The meals we had in Chops and Giovanni's were outstanding. We are Floridians also and completely understand your desire for some cooler weather!

We were in a suite and the shampoo, conditioner and body wash were separate. I can't speak to what's available in other than suite cabins. My husband isn't into the fancy soaps and shampoos and I have allergies, so we always bring our own products. This is off topic too, but this was our first time on Serenade and I'd read some negative comments before the cruise so we were a little concerned. We were very pleased with the ship and wouldn't hesitant to cruise on her again. We had a great time.

Serenade of the Seas Seapass Cards Day 1
CruisinNole replied to Aburkhard7's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We just got off Serenade. You will not receive your Seapass cards at checkin. You will be able to get them when the cabins are ready, 1:00 - 1:30. They'll be on the door.
