  1. OP hasn't responded so it's difficult to know the true issue. If they did indeed use a CruiseNext certificate then that is non-refundable, per the terms of purchase. If they used cash and NCL gave them a CN refund (which they have done to me in the past) then yes, they can and should request a cash refund from NCL. As to using the CN with the 20% discount, that shouldn't be an issue. But they can only use the discount on the specified cruises.
  2. Yea, still trying to wrap my head around NCL logic - or rather lack thereof. When they cancelled most of the Spirit cruises, they offered 20% on any remaining Spirit cruise, thru April 2024. Plus 10% on any other cruise, thru 2024. Later, when they cancelled 2 more of the remaining Spirit cruises (Dec 2024) the offer changed to 20% off on the Jewel, through February 2024. Huh??? So a different ship, totally different itinerary and a shorter timeframe. And they said they couldn't change the terms because that wouldn't be fair!!!! Apparently their thought was that the Jewel goes to Asia so an equivalent choice - my cruise was to Australia, ending in Bali. Jewel doesn't go to Australia. Not very optimistic that they will change their ruling - so if anyone finds a path to appeal a denial from Katy Byrd, please share!
  3. I've booked family OV many times as a solo. But have never actually stayed in one because of upgrades.
  4. They aren't discount codes that you apply. They are the codes that NCL applies to your reservation to keep track of the various promos that are applicable to your reservation.
  5. Yes, people forget that when you get off the ship you also have to be able to get back on! Went to Antarctica and got oooh so close to getting off in Stanley. As close as sitting in the theater waiting for the tenders to return after getting checked out at the port when the dreaded announcement came over the PA system. Tenders were having trouble docking at that time and the weather report wasn't looking good for later in the day. So while we might have been able to get to the port there was a good chance we wouldn't have been able to get back to the ship at the end of the day. Not fun having to time your transition onto the ship so you don't get bashed on the head - or worse.
  6. Last 2 cruises it took 2 days to get my latitudes laundry done.
  7. Very true. Actual experience is always good. But sadly, many of the negative comments regarding issues with NCL-arranged flights seem to come from people who don't actually have any personal experience.
  8. Not sure anybody knows why NCL puts certain categories in GTY status months before a cruise.
  9. To clarify, can you pay for an upgrade - possibly. Can you negotiate a price - no. You would pay the difference between what you paid and the current price of the upgrade.
  10. Without specifics as to which cruise and the dates, best guess is that the double points were still a valid promo in June, is no longer valid now. Most promos are attached to the date you make changes to your reservation, not the initial date.
  11. Of course you can offer to pay for an upgrade - it has nothing to do with the bidding process, although you would need to cancel your bid if you do get a paid upgrade. I've seen a number of posts from people who claim to have been successful with a paid upgrade. Operative word is Paid. Not paid, not so successful. But keep in mind that what looks like a price drop to you might not be a price drop to NCL - it depends on the perks you had when you booked vs the current prices.
  12. 75 days is the deadline for requesting a deviation. Currently their target is around 60 days, up from the 30 days it had been - don't know how well they are actually doing.
  13. I find it interesting that NCL is saying no with early disembarking early when you are already in port. I did a NZ/Aus cruise several years ago and we had an overnight in Sydney. They were fully set up for customs/immigration the day we arrived so people could leave either day. There was a time-frame however, so you had to leave by a specified time in the morning. For those wanting to disembark early I would send very carefully worded inquiry to kbyrd @ ncl.com If you are already in port, I would suggest you put that information first as from my experience the bots that seem to read the messages will take your first statement and run with it - and they will not respond again. If you aren't already in port, then the info like citizenship etc might be the important info to put first.
  14. Platinum vouchers are for a dinner for 2. Doesn't matter who that 2nd person is. If you are solo you can invite another solo. And you definitely do not have to invite someone from your cabin if you don't want to - although that could be a little awkward!
  15. You have 1 meal together. Your husband uses a coupon for his uncle, you use a coupon for the friend. Caveat - the T&Cs say you can't use the coupons for the same restaurant. The CruiseNext people say you can - and it's their program. So there is a chance you'll get a little pushback but on the other hand most of the time the staff really doesn't care.
  16. The airline should be your first point of contact. You should be OK if nothing is delayed but if there is a delay, the sooner you contact the airline the better. From my experiences (way too many thanks to the airlines) the airlines are a better choice for first contact as they can/might give you vouchers for meals plus transportation/hotel stays if necessary. If you call NCL they might offer to book you on another flight but they might not - and no additional compensation. If the airline won't help, then I'd call my travel insurance - most seem to include assistance as part of their coverage and are probably available 24/7. And it is in their best interest to get you home as soon as possible so they aren't paying any more than necessary - if your coverage includes delays, etc.
  17. Hah. Mine said something about a discount. Nada. Changes between Jade, Latitudes, xxdiscount. And I have yet to find anyone at NCL (PCC, CN staff, casino manager) that knows what it means, if anything.
  18. In the past that was true but when I recently asked my PCC she said it would change. I'm probably going to test that theory soon as my cruise price has gone down more than the airfare increase and there is a good chance that I won't be using the airfare anyway. Also be aware that if you used CruiseNext certificates on a double/triple promo and don't qualify (don't have a balcony for example) the additional certificates will be returned to your account.
  19. That's probably a big no. And it wouldn't make a difference in the dining options anyway, as the vouchers are per cabin, not per person. So the dining options would be the same. 2 meals for 2.
  20. There is no laundry coupon - just poor design on the part of NCL when they created the welcome cards - so it looks like a coupon. If you read the "coupon" all it says is to put your name/status on the bag and slip - never mentions anything about including a coupon. Nor has anyone ever posted that they were charged for laundry because they didn't include the "latitudes coupon". Maybe designed that way so people think they only get 1 bag - who knows.
  21. While you probably didn't miss anything with the wine, if you would have asked they would have brought it to you. Not uncommon for some details to be overlooked these days. Took me 3 days to get the water that's part of the latitudes perks.
  22. As I said, the wording is confusing. I travel as a solo often and what they are saying is that a solo can share a meal with someone but cannot get 2 meals for 1 from a single voucher. A solo gets 2 meals total, they can dine alone or they can share a meal. Note that it says an additional welcome back card. The card contains 2 vouchers.
