  1. Not really buying the "don't rember" story. If he was unconscious for enough time for the ship to disapear entirely, he'd most likely have drowned without a lifejacket that faces you up. Story seems a bit fishy.
  2. It's not hard if you're a drinker, you can get to the "value" that they have listed on the menus but it's hardly economical (I can easily buy 60 bottles of alcohol per cheers package at home lol), even if you get 15 boozey drinks a day. If you are going to party up anyway, it sure beats retail prices per drink and allows flexibility in drink choice. I do find that I don't tend to drink much else when I have cheers as I'm generally too full/bloated to drink much of anything else besides water and I just typically drink the easiest avialable instead of waiting (which is the glass carafe at dinner or the dispensor for other eateries). It also temps you to "get your moneys worth" since it costs so much and that can lead to a perpetual cycle of drinking, hangover, hair of the dog, drinking more (over and over) and not feeling 100% and ultimatly super lazy for much of the cruise. Don't get me wrong, booze cruises can be awsome if that is what you are out for, but if not, it can be exhausting dragging-arse all the time, especially on longer cruises than 3-4 days. There is a lot of downtime on cruises, it can be economical if you surpass $85.70 per day, for seven days staight. Easier to do on shorter cruises, harder on seven dayers and expoentially harder on longer voyages like 10-14days+.
  3. Seems like a good deal! Pick a Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years or summer cruise to get maximum value! It could be a great oppertunity to cruise when prices are typically at their peak.
  4. They bundle on Princess with Princess+ (as well as other cruise lines), they could do it on Carnival too. They need to figgure out a way to add more value to coax the spend, having various drinks, tips, wifi, dining and excursion bundling is a great way to do that.
  5. More like $1200 ($990 + additional tips), I budget for $600 per realistically . Makes you wonder if the whole "taking it away & brining it back" just wasn't a ruse to attempt to soften the blow of these jacked up prices? I suspect it may have been, wouldn't surprise me. They've done things like this before and tried to spin it as a "customer demand" type spin. If they are aiming for cheers or nothing, they will succeed, just not how intended.
  6. Can't really blame inflation for this, alcohol has been one of the items that has not really went up in price, sure some items have been raised $1 or even less, but the majority of stuff is the same prices as it's always been. This is just a flat out money grab. Carnival must have hired some disney consultants for the price schemes lol. They sure are out of touch with the base core passanger if they think folks are going to pony up at these prices. $90 for a $10 (or $12.50 for a liter) bottle of bacardi was hard to swallow already, $135 is nuts. It also seems they tacked on a bit to the delivery fees. After the inflated prices, delivery fees and taxes the prices are sky high. They may be trying to discourage folks from purchasing it but the same folks who will balk at these prices will also balk at $600 for cheers for a week cruise and $15 individual drinks as well. All this money grabbing is going to backfire. Consumption brings money, they should be running more specials/promotions (on board at least) instead of pricing folks out, encouraging folks to opt out entirely, and/or discouraging spend. Some cruise markets might be used to high prices/taxes/government stores etc, but others arn't. This is a disneyfication of Carnival.
  7. Plan on $100 extra per person on top of cheers, or $600 all-in costs per person for cheers, cheers auto grats and additional tips.

  9. Showing for my Jan cruise, they tottally jacked all the prices up though! If you thought they were expensive before, it's rediculous now. Straight gouging, no other way to say it. I paid $120 for Patron last time, now $180, even the basic stuff is now $135, rediculous. 🤑
  10. Same experience for me, went to check and nada, they have vanished without a trace, both e and regular.
  11. I've always done that and was taught that, then again, I was born/raised near active military bases and had lots of friends/classmates with parents in military, went to airshows every year, enjoyed fly overs and seeing all the activity around town, dances on base, trips to the commissary ect. As for me and mine, we stand with hands on heart but I don't begrudge others who feel differently, after-all, that's kind of the point, even liberty I don't particularly like. The USA isn't a totalitarian regime.
  12. I think @chengkp75 made the best point, what is the sense in getting all worked up? The cruise lines don't even have to do these things, I'm sure just as many anti-war/different view people complain about them and find offense in one form or another, it's probably easier for them if they just skipped them altogether and avoid the headache considering the wide demographic on the ships between passengers and crew. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't so why bother? This thread reminds me of all the folks who leave bad reviews for businesses because they didn't get a military discount they demanded and felt entitled to and then claim the business must be anti-military or unpatriotic because they didn't acquiesce to dry-begging efforts. This is much ado about nothing, not everyone is going to feel the same way and that's OK. Heck, some might even be offended while others don't particularly care for it but go through the motions. Forcing others to comply with others "expectations" isn't very patriotic or free, trying to get someone in trouble or mess with their livelihood over it is borderline doxxing.
  13. Only if paired with a shirt, tie and shorts. 😁
  14. The problem with strollers is that it is inconvenient, you'd have to use elevators exclusively or fold and unfold them every time you use stairs and either would get old real quick like. I'd bring a light one for ports (light umbrella but get one with very good wheels) but not really for use on the ship, just plan for the areas you want to hang-out in on deck and have a "home-base" area in each section. Pre-planning is key to avoid stress. *For storage, under the bed.
  15. Good move on Carnival! One bottle is better than nothing! Options are always a good thing for passengers.
  16. Maybe Carnival needs a FTTP/FTTD option? Could be pure profit! I'm sure a lot of folks booked extra cruises when they had the ten cruises deal, it could work the same way again with platinum/diamond, buy points and get there quicker. It would certainly make easy money and not cost them much of anything. I'd bet a lot of folks would toss money at it because a lot of folks need to feel special/VIP. Use that human nature and cash in on it!
  17. Craps and blackjack, in that order. You'll also hear people talk about "rules" and playing as a team in blackjack but that's more of an allusion. You'll have some mad if you play your hands more aggressively as they think you "took" their cards but that's nonsense. I don't give a crap if someone is mad that I spit 10's and doubled down with a face card rich deck. Then again, most are using many deck shoes these days but you could still find yourself in situations where pressing convention is prudent, especially if you enjoy it and enter tournaments. That will all come later though, basic strategy is a good place to start until you get a better grip on what's going on. Free online playing can help hone your skills and provide a solid foundation/understanding.
  18. Try logging in to carnival, the spa discount should pop up, it did for me.
  19. Yes, the only caveat being the system could theoretically take a bit to reset you back and you will have a conflict booking until that point. Should be anywhere from a 10 min to an hour but can be several hours or overnight if there are system problems/slowdowns. It's worth it either way, worst case is you end up with what you already got, no harm no foul.
  20. It is an interesting choice, this is pretty pitiful when they could have easily pushed drink packages and excursions and pretty much everything else and really got a strong fundraising opportunity going with direct funds from passengers, even more strange considering they raised the prices on everything already and are paying high interest on other debt; seemed like a no-brainer cash grab opportunity to knock a little off, sell at the "old" price basically and sit back and watch sales jack-up. It's a head-scratcher but maybe the ships are full enough and folks are buying enough of all the extra spend items? Who knows but it seems an odd thing not to capitalize on. I would have taken it a step further and made it seem like a "accident" like last year and let the rumor-mill and internet take care of the rest and really watch the scramble lol. A lot of folks wouldn't have even thought about it and would of just started racking stuff up lol. Use human nature to cash in. 😁
  21. Oh I see, my bad, I misunderstood what you were implying. Yes, it's generally sold (outside of cruise ships) in the Caribbean and Cognac, France.
  22. Yes, I have this problem frequently and tried every solution and it was super frustrating. I ended up just using a different device to do the final bookings. That's the only thing that works consistently. Funny thing is, the other devices also run the same OS/browser but work. I think it's something with security settings/cookies but it's much less of a headache to find what you're looking for and then just switch to a phone or another device to complete the booking/put on hold.
  23. Yes, they don't inform passengers on why so I wouldn't know. If they already got your money on cheers they have less incentive. Removing casino bars and closing bars early isn't serving, especially crowded bars with lots of folks who would still like to enjoy them, especially on older ships like Miracle. Without a casino bar, it's more Princess like than Carnival like but that seems to be the objective these days, close things down early, limit food options past dinner and get folks in bed early.
