  1. I wouldn’t take that offer. Only real benefit of the Ultra for me is the big gift. I was lucky and won the big screen smart tv. Haven’t been back on an ultra since. That was one of the busiest casinos I have seen on a ship. It was packed all of the time.
  2. I received the sun care kit, the beach blanket, huge gold dice with gold plated cards, and a fruit and wine basket. We got a gift everyday, including cookies. We loved our Elite cruises.
  3. Two years ago there were no cruises going out, so of course the number of cruised being booked would be way down. A better comparison would be same date 3 years ago (before the pandemic). From that we could tell how close the cruise lines are to recapturing their passengers.
  4. Yes, it's a good upsell and one I would have taken. $700 solo for a balcony to Alaska - great deal!
  5. While everyone above gave you the correct answer, there was a report from a cruiser a few months ago who showed up at the ship alone and the booking was under his wife's VIFP number. He reported he was able to board and was never charged extra. Your mileage may vary, but the official rule is the invited guest must cruise.
  6. Here's the general procedure: You go to the cage in the casino. They will either give you cash or ask slots or tables? If you say slots, you have to play the wager the entire $25, but you can cash out any winnings. Since you are not big gamblers and it's free money, I suggest you go to a game that has a max bet of $5 then spin it five times. At that point, you can cash out and convert your winnings (if any) to cash at the cage. Good luck.
  7. I would ask your PVP to escalate this for you. Resolutions Department, maybe?
  8. Op, any update? Our granddaughter applied in July for a NEW passport and had it in hand 17 days later. She paid the rush fee as she is applying for a position with the airlines.
  9. We were once assigned our guarantee cabins within 20 minutes of booking. We booked two ocean views and only two were showing up under the higher priced pick our own cabin category. Sure enough, we got those two which were beside each other. That was a rare guarantee win for us.
  10. When I started cruising people were bringing bungee cords to keep their balcony doors open, duct tape, shoe organizers, etc. we quickly learned none of this was needed. Just plan your clothes wisely to mix and match, limit yourself to two pairs of shoes, bring OTC medicines along with your toiletries and then electronics. Suitcases get unpacked and stored under the bed. Clothes get hung up or placed in drawers or on shelves in the closet. Shoes stay in the closet. Recycle paper as needed. Keep valuables in the safe. Pretty easy.
  11. Op, sorry this happened to you. I haven't had this happen to me yet, but we are ALL human and make mistakes. Glad it didn't cost you any "real" money.
  12. Pre-pandemic you could (depending on availability), but I don't know whether it is possible to buy onsite now. I would check out their website and also Comfort Suites, where you can book the room and get access to the water park and beach at Atlantis.
  13. You could try URComped. They work with most cruise lines and will likely find you a deal.
  14. Thanks for bringing this thread back up. op, please update us on your progress. I hope you are doing well!
  15. Another issue is the pressure they are putting on their staff. They said the shortage would be quickly corrected, after the US government agreed to fast track visas, but with the cuts to service, I wonder if they aren’t planning to continue to make unreasonable demands on staff. I don’t want a cut rate vacation where I have to bring an insulated cup or hoard food in my mini fridge for a late night snack. If that’s ok for you, go for it. But my cruising and gaming dollars will be looking elsewhere when I plan future vacations, and could impact those already booked.
  16. Trying getting pizza after 10:00. You will see a crowd.
  17. We have six more Carnival cruises booked, but I am seriously considering cancelling at least three of them. From the crowds to the lack of staff, ineffective security, lack of a curfew for children, unruly guests, and now more cutbacks, just not sure I will cruise with Carnival unless it is an Elite offer or on the Mardi Gras or Celebration. I find it comical I am coming to this conclusion as I am finally going to make Diamond next year.
  18. Nor have we, but we assign one to each booking we do with our PVP.
  19. Agreed. We took our granddaughter there when she was about 13 and all three of us really enjoyed it, especially the flamingo show.
  20. Luckily, we didn't see any sharks or stingrays while we were there. I know they were there, we just didn't see any.
  21. They skipped it so we had to do the full route, so they could try to sell us a resort pass for $40 pp. We loved Radio Beach. I will try to find my review and move it back to the top.
  22. Why wouldn't you just stay the night in Paris? That's a lot of travel and stress for one day (you have to get to the train station, go through security and customs, then what, 3 hours on the train, take a taxi to downtown; then do it all again for getting back to London). You could do it, but I don't think you will time to get your three must do's in, at least not at a leisurely pace.
  23. We have done both and loved the Havana area on the Horizon, but would pick the Mardi Gras for active young people. There are so many restaurants that are included with your time dining (my time?), and everything on the ship is bright and shiny. Bolt would be fun, as is the mini golf course, sports deck, etc. Plus table shuffleboard in the back area near BBQ. The shows are different and fun, and we were able to grab good seats about 30 minutes before the shows in the atrium most nights. There is live music all over the ship and tons of comedy shows. But if the kids just want to kick back and hang by the pool all week, then Havana on the Horizon would be the way to go.
  24. I agree with cruising guy. Some people can’t handle any criticism of Carnival. So they type things like the traffic jam wasn’t Carnival’s fault (no one said it was, but Carnival could have texted guests that in light of the traffic, they were delaying departure for six hours) or there must be something going on that’s not Carnival’s fault (so it’s the cruiser, not the cruise line). Others who have been on the Pride since cruising resumed agree with many of her comments, including the disorganized tender process and the gruff guy boarding the tenders. So unless you come here and praise Carnival, many will dismiss you or outright attack. I thought the purpose of cc was to inform us, not to defend your chosen cruise line no matter what. I doubt Eli will post anymore about this cruise, since there have been so many defending Carnival because they have not had the same experience. That does not negate her experience.
  25. No way to know for sure other than by calling. I think if there is availability, you can add them and the whole cabin will be repriced at today's rate.
