  1. No, it’s the gate agents who are checking out your bags. I have gate checked many bags that were too large for the bins, or when the overhead bin space is full. OP’s bag is too large; wheels are included in the bag’s measurements. It will need to be checked. And, we just had a flight take a ten minute delay because of the FAs failure to notify us of the bin situation. All the bin doors were closed, but eight pax had their bags taken out to the jetbridge to be checked,
  2. Maybe years ago this was true. Not anymore. I am a gate agent for a major airline and there are upgrade protocols we have to follow that have absolutely no relationship to how you are dressed or if you bring candy. For domestic flights, premier status fliers get free upgrades and there are usually plenty of them in line for any empty seats. For international flights, upgrades have to be paid for with miles/money/upgrade instruments.
  3. There is not enough alcohol in the world to plan a group cruise. But, both will leave you with a massive headache.
  4. UA still shows RT, SFO-PPT departure 23 Jan, return 01 Feb for $5371 in Polaris. I just chose random dates. I see many other date combinations for the same price. They don't show this routing on Mondays, at least not right now. But, Jan 2024 is a long time away.
  5. I though you were asking about a "person of color."
  6. My renewal took over four months. A relative who renewed at the same time got their renewal two weeks later. There usually is no interview for a renewal.
  7. Impossible to do. Suggest for your sanity, you take yourself out this, and turn it over to a travel agent,
  8. Massive flight cancellations? What would those be? The Southwest fiasco? The only other “massive cancellations” I’ve noticed are for weather. Airlines have always had schedule changes; this is nothing new.
  9. Probably because upgrades at the lower rate are gone.
  10. I work in the baggage office of a major US carrier. Most damage claims are from hard shells. Spinners break off easily and often take the bottom piece of the bag with them. I stick to soft sided. I’d just add, please put a sturdy name tag on your bag with your correct contact information, and add this someplace inside the bag.
  11. I have been on both PG (1 time) and Windstar (3 times) in FP. I wouldn't choose PG again for many reasons. I have never experienced any problems with excessive ship motion in that area.
  12. You will be required to show proof of vaccination before flying to the US. So, your trip is really a nonstarter if you aren't vaccinated.
  13. The Wind Surf has always been my least favorite ship, and I have been on all of them. I will be on the Pride soon, and it will be interesting to see if there is any change with the increase in passenger numbers.
  14. Yes, some pretty scathing reviews lately!
  15. Yes, you do not have to purchase the package for both passengers.
  16. No, travel in seven weeks does not qualify you for urgent travel. AND, to get an appointment, you must have your proof of travel documents (tickets) and be traveling within fourteen days. As she hasn't booked and you are seven weeks out, this won't work. I just did renewal online the first week of January, paid for expedited service and return, and after eight weeks (although it states expedited should take 3-5 weeks), it's still in process
  17. Safety is the first concern of every airline employee. If the customer service agent can't get you on the plane, you don't need to worry about the flight crew.
  18. Well, yeah. Pilots get everything, including the most benefits and highest pay. FAs are next, then the rest of us peasants who glean the crumbs.
  19. I personally hate it when a passenger needs to be rebooked, and they stand at the counter telling me that Expedia shows a flight I should put them on, or suggests routing to me. Believe me, most agents already know the applicable routings and for OP, there are very few that will work. It is annoying and distracting to have the pax shouting out instructions while I'm trying to work. Uh, no. You are not rebooked at a priority because you are on vacation. Usually in IRROPs, there are lots and lots of passengers who have to be rebooked, and very few seats. I wouldn't hold my breath for this routing. There are often weight restrictions on Australia flights, and they frequently don't go out or return with a full load of passengers. Anyone flying in the day of the cruise to Australia really should rethink this. Very bad idea.
  20. No fire. It was gas fumes coming from the A/C system.
  21. As stated, your booking belongs to your travel agent, you can't change it yourself, and the flight, as Meg pointed out, may not be available to the cruise line. I also don't understand why you want to change anything. Take the 7:00 bus.
  22. What? I thought only AA was canceling flights 😄. I don't quite understand what you are writing because you say you had a YYZ-FCO flight booked and you are asking if you should take a FCO-YUL-YYZ or a FCO-FRA-YYZ. So, are you asking about the outbound or the return? If it's the return, I personally would book this myself. But, if you are sticking with cruise air, I'd take the FCO-FRA-YYZ. I'd rather have that long haul to my arrival airport than risk delays in Canada.
