  1. Hi, Thanks for these posts. I booked the two-night package at Baha Mar prior to my Crystal Serenity cruise in September. I will make my dining reservations in advance. Hopefully it will be less crowded in September. Chuck
  2. Hi, Thanks for the information. I am booked on the Celebrity Summit's cruise that is scheduled to depart on July 10. I am flying from Chicago to Miami on the afternoon of July 9 and from Miami to St. Maarten on the morning of July 10. I have made an apportionment for the rt-PCR test in Chicago on July 7 at 3:00 pm. I am supposed to receive the test results within a few hours. Because I selected a boarding time of 2:00 pm, the test is within 72 hours of boarding. However, I need to receive my test results and approval from St. Maarten before my flight on Friday afternoon. This is the part that makes me nervous. Chuck
  3. Hi, No, I never received an email from Celebrity that I could check-in. I kept checking Celebrity's website every day or two. Chuck
  4. Hi, I am booked on the Celebrity Summit's cruise that is scheduled to depart on July 10. Online check-in did not become available for me until about eight days ago. Chuck
  5. Hi, I am booked on the Celebrity Summit's cruise that departs from St. Maarten on July 10. I am not aware of this requirement for my cruise, but it is not a big deal for me. Chuck
  6. Hi 76Jaguar, Thanks for your post. As I noted above, I am booked on the Celebrity Summit's cruise from St. Maarten that departs on July 10. I am on the same American Airlines flight that departs from SXM at 12:45 pm. It sounds like the timing of this flight is good. I changed to this flight in an effort to minimize my time at the airport. Chuck
  7. Hi, Thanks for your posts. I am booked on the Celebrity Summit's cruise that departs from St. Maarten on July 10. After the cruise, I have reservations for the American Airlines flight that is scheduled to depart from SXM to Miami at 12:45 pm. I purchased the transfer to the airport from Celebrity. I have a three hour layover in Miami prior to my flight to Chicago. I'm glad to hear that there weren't any positive test results on the most recent cruise. Celebrity's procedures regarding COVID seem to be successful. Chuck
  8. Hi, This may vary by departure port. I am booked on the Celebrity Summit's cruise that departs from St. Maarten on July 10. I booked my own air, but I was allowed to book Celebrity transfers before and after the cruise. I provided Celebrity with my flight information. My pre-cruise documentation includes tickets for the transfers before and after the cruise. Chuck
  9. Hi Jason, Thanks for your encouraging post. This makes me feel better about my decision. I have a similar plan concerning the PCR test prior to my trip. I have found some places in Chicago that specialize in turning around test results quickly for travelers. My post-cruise experience should not be too bad because my flight is scheduled to depart at 12:45. I hope you continue to have a great cruise! Chuck
  10. Hi, Thanks for your replies. This is a tough decision. At this point, I have decided to keep my reservation for the Celebrity Summit cruise departing July 10. I received an excellent price on one of the new balcony staterooms that was added to Deck 10 forward. Also, it will be nice having the reduced number of passengers on this cruise. I have made all of the travel arrangements and have my electronic boarding pass. After having so many of my cruises canceled during the past 15 months, I hate to miss a cruise that actually has a good chance of taking place. Chuck
  11. Hi, I am booked on the Celebrity Summit's cruise that is scheduled to depart from St. Maarten on July 10. I love cruises (94 cruises since 1967), but I am having second thoughts about this cruise after reading numerous posts on these boards. I would be taking this cruise solo and flying from Chicago to Miami the day before the cruise and spending the night at a Miami airport hotel. I would then fly from Miami to St. Maarten the morning of the cruise (scheduled to arrive in St. Maarten before noon). I don't want to fly to St. Maarten early because I would need to arrange a second COVID test in St. Maarten. Of course, there are flight delay worries and the chance of missing the ship. I have travel insurance. I need to have a COVID test within 72 hours of my departure, receive negative test results and obtain an approved health form back from St. Maarten. If there are problems with any these steps, I won't be able to take this cruise. I have cruised on this ship before and visited all of the ports. Because I am taking this cruise solo, it sounds like I will be dining alone in the restaurant each night (I have requested second seating dining). The airport situation in St. Maarten following the cruise sounds horrible. My flight is scheduled to depart from St. Maarten at 12:45 pm. I could cancel the cruise now and apply the amount that I have paid to a later cruise on one of the new ships (Edge or Apex) from North America. If you were in my shoes, would you cancel this cruise? Thanks, Chuck
  12. Hi, I usually fly to the port a day or two before a cruise. However, this plan actually caused me to miss a cruise about 10 years ago. I was booked on a cruise on Cunard's Queen Victoria that was departing from Southampton. I booked a flight so that I would spend two nights in London prior to the cruise. However, a volcano in Iceland erupted and many flights to Europe were canceled. The flight arriving in London immediately before my cruise was not canceled but it was completely full. If I had originally booked this later flight, I would have made the cruise. However, by booking a flight two days early, I missed the cruise. I realize that this was a strange situation, but it really irritated me that I missed this cruise. I am booked on the Celebrity Summit cruise scheduled to depart from St. Maarten on July 10. I am flying from Chicago to Miami on the Friday prior to the cruise. I am spending Friday night at a Miami airport hotel and taking the first flight to St. Maarten on Saturday morning. My flight is supposed to arrive before noon and the ship departs at 10:00 pm. I realize that there is some risk, but I did not want to arrange for a second COVID test in St. Maarten. Of course, I have travel insurance. Chuck
  13. Hi, It is great to hear that this cruise is going well. I am booked on a similar cruise on the Celebrity Summit that departs from St. Maarten on July 10. The two positive cases on last week's cruise had me concerned. Chuck
  14. Hi, I'm booked on the July 10 cruise and also would appreciate any advice concerning the test that is required prior to traveling to St. Maarten. Thanks, Chuck
  15. Hi, Royal Caribbean is having a very difficult time entering this ship into service. They should have a party when the first paying passenger actually boards this ship. Chuck
  16. Hi, Royal Caribbean has had a difficult time entering this ship into service. It was supposed to sail a series of cruises from Israel this summer, but all of these cruises were canceled. Now this ship is facing further cancelations. I am booked on two cruises this year (Celebrity Summit in July and Crystal Serenity in September) that require passengers and crew to be fully vaccinated. This isn't a guarantee that there won't be problems (as shown by the Celebrity Millennium last week). Hopefully, however, this greatly improves the chances that these cruises will operate safely. I really want to take cruises and support the cruise industry. Chuck
  17. Hi, Thanks for your posts reporting the conditions at the St. Maarten airport following your cruise. I am booked on the Celebrity Summit's cruise that is sailing from St. Maarten on July 10. Based on your posts, I decided to change to a flight after the cruise that is scheduled to depart from St. Maarten at 12:45 pm. Hopefully this will at least minimize my time at the airport. Also, I have a three-hour layover in Miami before my next flight home. Chuck
  18. Hi, I just called Celebrity about checking in for the Celebrity Summit's July 10 cruise. The representative said that check-in is not available at this time. Apparently, there is a delay due to the change in ships. She said that I would receive notice when check-in is available. Chuck
  19. Hi, I am booked on the Celebrity Summit's cruise that is scheduled to depart on July 10. My reservation still indicates "check-in unavailable." Shouldn't I be able to check-in at this point? Thanks, Chuck
  20. Hi, I am booked on the Celebrity Summit's cruise that is scheduled to depart from St. Maarten on July 10. It will be interesting to see how many passengers are on this cruise. I think reduced capacity sounds nice - there should be plenty of seats, a lack of crowds, etc. Chuck
  21. Hi, I am currently booked on the Crystal Serenity's cruise that is scheduled to depart from Nassau on September 18. Last week, I decided to book a seven-day cruise on the Celebrity Summit that is scheduled to depart from St. Maarten on July 10. Of course, I have been watching the reports from the Celebrity Millennium very closely. I am sorry that two people tested positive, but it sounds like Celebrity handled the situation very well. At this point, I am still looking forward to my cruises on the Celebrity Summit and the Crystal Serenity. On both of these cruises, all of the passengers and crew are required to be vaccinated. I live in downtown Chicago where only a little more than half of the people are fully vaccinated. I'm sure that I regularly encounter unvaccinated people each day. In theory, I should be safer on these ships than Chicago. Chuck
  22. Hi Seany527, Thank you very much for your extremely informative posts. I am sorry that two passengers tested positive, but it sounds like Celebrity handled this situation very well. I am booked on a similar cruise on the Celebrity Summit that departs from St. Maarten on July 10. Celebrity's response makes me feeling better about being booked on this cruise. Thanks, Chuck
  23. Hi, Do you know if solo travelers are seated alone in the dining room? I am taking the July 10 cruise as a solo passenger. I selected second seating. I like meeting fellow passengers during dinner, but I realize that new safety standards are in place. Thanks, Chuck
  24. Hi, Thank you very much for your informative posts. I am booked on the July 10 cruise departing from St. Maarten on the Summit. I hope that you are enjoying your cruise. I am extremely excited about my upcoming cruise. Chuck
