Not easy to get a seat at the bar- come early. Also seating around the bar and you can see the "show". Yes you can order mocktails, soda or wine. They serve many drinks besides martinis

If you don't mind drinking at 8AM works! But you also get some free drinks during the evening if that works best for you. Also, best to consider the buffet or MDR for a hot breakfast! Enjoy.

Anything new at specialty restaurants (S-class)?
Cruise a holic replied to Alsmez's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We sailed on Equinox and enjoyed all the specialty restaurants, including Le Petit chef. They actually have two different menus per week- so you can decide which works best for you. They will also substitute courses as my DH doesn't eat any seafood and they offered him a different menu. We aren't sushi people and do not eat at sushi on five. Tuscan and Murano were good. -
If you want a true balcony cabin on the edge class ships, you should book an aft balcony cabin. As said above the infinite balcony cabins are really windowed cabins that open unless locked. We really were disappointed in the narrow cabin. The sky suites and above have true balconies.

Interesting. The only ships we had a terrible soot problem was on Celebrity's corner aft S1 sky suites. Good to know that some of the Royal ships have a soot problem. Never noticed on Oasis or Harmony.

ICON of the seas - what are your first thoughts
Cruise a holic replied to bgoff60's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We are two adults and booked the Icon of the Seas. We feel that the ship has many options for adults only. Yes, the ship will attract many families, but on all ships, we find quiet spots and enjoy seeing families have a great time. My only negative comment is the pricing is crazy, but it is still high for some of the old "tug" boats Royal still has. Thus far, the only ship that have disappointed us on Royal was the Adventure of the Seas. We have tried the Quantum and found that class of ship disappointing. Thus far our favorite class is the Oasis class. -
Is Celebrity getting a lot more expensive?
Cruise a holic replied to slanik's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Yes- pricing is getting insane. We always (in recent years) have sailed in Sky Suites and above on Celebrity. And Crown loft on Royal, however since pricing is getting insane, we are considering cruising less or will seek other options in the future. When we started cruising, we enjoyed balcony cabins , so perhaps we will go back to basics. -
You cannot take advantage of. Only if cabins are available, and the price drops before final payment you can.

NCL or Celebrity for Mediterranean?
Cruise a holic replied to NCteacherlovescruising's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Unless in the Haven, IMO not a fan of NCL. The ship is so crowded and food not as good as Celebrity. Also NCL regular balcony cabins are small. While the ports are very important, we also enjoy the ship and nice accommodations. -

I agree. When on Disney only one adult restaurant called Paulo.Perhaps the newer ships have more options. Other restaurants fair. But now Royal entertainment has Disney beat. Also, for those who enjoy a casino, none on Disney. We went without kids and never again. We enjoy a quiet dinner. -

When I have family over for dinner it is a nightmare- We now either take everyone out for dinner so they can all eat what they want or order in separate for each. My DH eats less then me and is happy with the small filet like you. -
Our experience on the summit- has been great- it isn't a "party" ship like carnival. Typically a more reserved experience. I am sure you will enjoy the ship. Their is plenty to do and music and dancing in the late evening.

A New York Steak house serves such large portions, you bring home half for the next day! I am not very thin nor overweight, but I enjoy a nice dinner- I would order a ribeye! lol! I have family in Richmond VA. But they are mostly vegan's. -
Aqua vs Concierge on Apex with MoveUp to Suites in Mind!
Cruise a holic replied to BeachTunes's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Welcome back to Celebrity! We will also be on the Apex in March. We are booked in a sky suite, but it has become pricey. If I didn't book a sky suite, I personally would opt for an aft balcony cabin as you get a true balcony. I am not a great fan of blu and would, with the money saved, have dinners in SP restaurants. Blu on the S and M class ships is better located- on the Edge class it is off a busy hallway and open with the exception on a unusual shade- you can see into and out of the restaurant. Also, with CC and balcony class you get to dine if you desire my time dining. The concept of three restaurants is great. Enjoy your cruise. -

I understand about amuse bouche, but the entree's have been reduced in size- maybe cost cutting measures. I am not a dessert person and like a respectable portion of fish, poultry or beef for dinner and a big salad. I feel like a pest if I say may I please have another. I also am not a fan of a buffet- -

I agree. Will not sail on Disney again. The pricing for the cruise and also in the parks is obscene When we are sailing on Royal, if our budget is an issue for the sailing, we find the central park view cabins work great for us. -

While I agree smaller size is typically fine- not a great fan of tapas. I Like a fist sized portion of most foods, appetizers can be smaller, but not a tiny shrimp on a cracker. -

We are "young" senior citizens. Love the look of the Icon. Have booked it. Yes, they are attempting to attract younger and multigenerational travelers. Why not? Biggest market share. The senior market share is shrinking. Like the idea of choice and will continue to sail on Oasis class and above even if we sail just the two of us. We can hang in the adult only areas. -

Looks great! However looks like tiny portions. -
If Elite or higher would you book cruise only?
Cruise a holic replied to gordylad's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We opt for the all in. We use the wifi, like that tips are included and do not have to worry if we order a drink, don't like it, and order something else. We also enjoy specialty coffee throughout the day. Bottled water and soft drinks also works for us. Seems to work for us. When we used to drink in the Elite lounge, the liquor was inferior. -

who should we use? -
Another benefit of the all included dining package (if offered for your cruise) is lunch is also included. Some sp restaurants, like the lawn club grill and sushi on five offer lunch also. Varies so check once on board.
