Bid to Upgrade Program: Two Specific Questions
Redwing55 replied to talkorpi's topic in Princess Cruises
Limbo lower now.. how low can you go? Just kidding. No. I didn't get a thing once I bid until it was accepted. However, if you want to change your mind, you can sign back in and raise or lower your bid though. Once it's accepted though, that's it. -
Bid to Upgrade Program: Two Specific Questions
Redwing55 replied to talkorpi's topic in Princess Cruises
No choice on locations. But yes to using gift cards. We just used those from AARP. Just enter the # and Pin and it's done. -
How is the bidding system doing? Any comments?
Redwing55 replied to Bwana Tom's topic in Princess Cruises
We just got our bid accepted. I found it odd that the lower cat cabin is what was approved. More so as it was more on the lower end of the bid dial vs the rejected higher cat cabin bid. I'm happy the way it worked, but we never did get an email that the higher cat cabin bid was rejected. Now when I check, Princess shows the higher cat cabin bid as "expired" and the lower cat cabin bid as "Upgraded." FWIW, we went from a reg balcony to a deluxe Balcony. Bid to premium deluxe Balcony was rejected. Got it 16 days out. -
Sky Princess - Can you answer few questions about this ship?
Redwing55 replied to llarsen's topic in Princess Cruises
Spot on, but I admit that in the evening, we tend to be around the IC than up top by the buffet. It's not an only reason, but having the CCard allows one to score those coffees for "free" at the lower deck. -
Sky Princess - Can you answer few questions about this ship?
Redwing55 replied to llarsen's topic in Princess Cruises
If you're at all a coffee drinker, I find the ground package worth it. I don't know how many are included these days, so I may be in error. It used to be 15 drinks. As a plus one also gets free brewed coffee and tea at the International Café. ReedP did a great job with answers above! You should fine most things are free on the ship. There are a few costs, but ReedP got most of them. Sounds like you should really be able to enjoy the cruise. PS.. I'm a huge fan of Alfredos.. try it at least once! -
At the IC and Buffet.

even if it did change (Which from what I can tell, it hasn't for some time,) there is value with paying a smaller deposit. True, sales do come up with small deposits, but this gives one complete freedom to book with limited out of pocket costs too.

I've taken cans. Just this last summer. Maybe Lauderdale is pretty lax with enforcement? No idea on other ports.
-
I keep hoping but it's only Diet Coke. The cult is strong. LOL
-
One can order as many as they want.. up to 15. At least it was for us in July. It's the regular coffee that is limited to only one at a time.
-
We Cruised this July on the Carr. P. I got the coffee "card" but the Barista's almost never marked a purchase. Yes, I know reg. coffees are unlimited. I really don't recall how many I got, but let's just say, more than my share. Since it was a 2 week cruise, this worked out great!

Just emailed new 2023 coupon book and boy is it disappointing
Redwing55 replied to justafem's topic in Princess Cruises
I find it interesting that we can all access this "book." (thru your link above.) On our July cruise we had the same book. So it looks like all one has to do is print this pdf and one has the coupons.... if one can use any. -
I don't have any questions, but saying to carry one's Vax card may not actually take care of things. Maybe a booster or two are required? Maybe the passenger isn't vaxed at all. So yeah, check the site and hopefully the answer will be there.

That's an issue, but from others, I heard ship's location can impact speed too. For me, I noticed differences on the ship (Sky and Carr) Even on the Lido deck, there were better and worse places. I suppose it's not funny, but I like to walk around the upper deck at times (Exercise) and found buffering in some places vs others. As for Apple music.. it wasn't blocked. Nor was Iheart, XM, Audicy.
-
True that. I keep checking and now it appears as if only $100 certs are available. Add to the tech problem that AARP is having and I can't score those. Hopefully they'll add back in the $500 denomination soon, but I doubt it'll be this month. Here's hoping.

When I just booked ours, it was labeled as excursion credit. So, I suspect it has to be used for that purpose.

My data may be a bit out of date, but we had our 24 month old granddaughter on the Sky in Feb of 2020. Not many kids on the ship. We had access to the play area and most times we were the only ones in it. As mentioned, you can't drop the child there, but it is open for use. And at times the Princess staff did offer a few activities. She got a couple of stuffed animals from that. Frankly, having her on the cruise wasn't an issue at all. Between us gparents and parents it worked out well. Now if it's just the parents, it'll be a different story for the entertainment... at least the theatre. Anyway.. enjoy.

What do you do with the Medallion after the cruise?
Redwing55 replied to YWW's topic in Princess Cruises
I think that using them as a ball marker is a great idea. And FWIW, there isn't a ball marker out there that won't change the direction of a putt... unless maybe it's aluminum foil. Even then it might still move the ball due to it not being grass. I've played with others that have used poker chips, thick coins, whatever. To each their own. -
We booked out 2 SR using the ap. It wasn't clear that it wouldn't charge our card though. I figured if it hit the card, a stop to passenger services would take care of it. As it turned out, it took the "Gifts" automatically. I heard others have had varying outcomes though. I wonder if it's how the gifts are noted in the cruise reservation.

Barring massive hospitalizations in the US, I wouldn't be surprised that Covid gets treated like the flu or noro. It'll be up to each individual to take the proper precautions, actions and reporting. Definitely not totally effective, but resorts, planes, etc don't do anything in this respect, even today. It's tough to put restrictions and actions on something that has ALMOST the same impact as other contagious viruses, etc. I suspect this will not sit well with many, but will sit well with most.

Bringing wine and bottled water onboard at embarkation
Redwing55 replied to mahi mahi's topic in Princess Cruises
I thought I read that about soda, but I can't find it on the Princess site. Did you find it there? -
I'm pretty sure that you have it right. Just have to be vaxed, not tested to enter Canada. At least that's my take. I'm mostly sure about not having a test, but since we have to test to board in FLL, I don't think it matters for CA. Then again, at one point, maybe one had to test during some window. Suffice to say, it's pretty confusing, and too often irrational.

What's Your Princess Booking Fare/Package Preference
Redwing55 replied to Jeter02's topic in Princess Cruises
I'm probably a bit unique. Spouse rarely drinks. But, IMO, if there are enough sea days, I'd sign up. If it's port intensive, we'd pass on it. Frankly, if it wasn't for calories, I'd probably do plus more often than not. I get the convenience, but I know how much we've spent on drinks in the past so that's the benchmark for us.. In summary, I'm glad to see options, though I don't see how I'd step up to premier. And if Princess ever gave Plat/Elite a bit of a discount for plus I'd bite. With getting 1/2 on internet, it's a waste to throw away that benie. -
Sorry oh great one.. I meant 4th shot. Most people would understand that. I'm not perfect. Question still stands..though. I've gotten some good responses here, so I'm good. Your post doesn't do much for me as it's a CDC recommendation. That doesn't clarify what Princess's definition means. I don't mean to be combative but your response did seem a bit condescending.
