  1. Major Red Flag about your TA, Sanger! We got screwed by a TA found via that compare website when booking our first Celebrity cruise. It was a nightmare due to an error on my part in paying in full at the time of booking and the fact that this TA used all the $ save for the deposit to float their business. Agency went belly-up before our cruise. Long story but both our cruise and our monies were salvaged.
  2. If you are driving to the port, why not bring wine aboard? If you don't drink it, just bring it home! If flying, it may be more difficult to locate a beverage store and purchase wine before sailing, but if you do this, be sure to drink up before your return flight home!
  3. That can be quite off-putting on a roll call. Now if cabin categories are requested on a roll call for the purpose of a “crawl” so that all categories can be visited, that is a different story!
  4. Wish Cruise Critic could add NO SELF-SERVICE LAUNDRY to a prominent position on this forum!
  5. Never felt like a less than worthy cruiser for not booking a suite on any of the 14 Celebrity cruises we’ve not sailed in one!
  6. Now this is a very helpful post! Sent the link to my friend who is sailing on the Millennium in September.
  7. Hope to be Elite + for our next cruise thanks to PUPs. Thinking of the no-perks option but will miss Cafe al Bacio's coffees. I see on the Celebrity list of bennis for that tier we get complimentary cappucino, latte, espresso and tea throughout the voyage. Does this mean at Cafe al Bacio? And would Americano (my choice) and Cafe Mocha (DH's choice) be gratis? Thanks!
  8. IDK if river cruise cabin walls are magnetic, but on our ocean cruises i mount maps of our itinerary and follow along the route as we sail!
  9. @Flyonby Good Luck! DD came down with Covid at home on 5/24. She had signed on to be part of the crowd being filmed earlier this week for the Loaves/Fishes episode of the Chosen. A negative PCR test was mandated and she was + on 6/4, 6/5 and luckily negative on 6/6 just in time to be among the multitude. So there is hope for you all!
  10. If you are in adjacent verandas, will they let you all open the divider between them?
  11. My DH is like "Ipee". He brings me my coffee from Cafe al Bacio every morning! although on last September's Alaska cruise, I was up so early I joined him there. This thread has me musing about a disadvantage of taking the no-perks option- we'd have to add the cost of our morning coffees into the equation. We could consider requesting a kettle and if so, would bring Starbucks Via; when staying in European timeshares which do not provide a US-type coffeemaker, we've found this to be a better option than instant Nescafe.
  12. It was a decade ago and we walked downhill from Oia to Ammoudi where we had lunch at a seaside restaurant. We were then met by a previously booked private boat, cruised with a stop at a tiny island, and then returned to the bottom of Fira. We could have taken a swim from the boat had we wished. There were 12 of us on the boat- 6 of us traveling together and the remaining 6 who joined from our Roll Call. IDK if such a option is still possible, but it was perfect for us!
  13. And how would the DIY non-monitored covid test results indicate the date administered?
  14. If the Cruise Only Fare plus gratuities is less than the all-inclusive rate, we will take it! Elite happy hour and included Wi-Fi will suffice for us along with our one bottle of wine allowed each, even better if as some posts here have indicated it is now two per person!
  15. Well, it isn't in my online account, nor is it in the warehouse TAs online account. That cancelled cruise was booked with the NRD from a previously cancelled cruise that was booked onboard by a friend so I figured the $200 was gone, but after receiving the email, maybe not? I did email Celebrity but no reply as of yet.
  16. I received this email and now am wondering if we do have an FCC from a January Equinox cruise which we cancelled last fall. Will check my account on Celebrity and be pleasantly surprised if an FCC is there!
  17. We download the Cleveland Plain Dealer to avoid using our minutes.
  18. We booked the Celebrity tour that took us by tender to port where a bus drove us to Oia. The majority of us on this tour ditched it to do our own thing. It saved us the stress of waiting for the cable car and worth the $$. So perhaps your private guide could meet you in Oia?
  19. Wasn't there a Celebrity "place holder" option for booking aboard in the recent past? That is the strategy our friends will need to take since the cruise we want will not likely be available 90 days from their September sailing. These friends have previously booked a cruise for us and themselves onboard that sadly we were unable to take due to covid. I supplied her with our key details, including our CC #s which makes it easier for the Future Cruise consultant to book us. However, per Celebrity's policy, the deposit was charged to our friend's onboard account and reimbursed by us.
  20. On an ocean cruise it is veranda, veranda, veranda for us. Our Yangtze cruise on President #7 even had a tiny veranda off of our very nice stateroom! But the one port day we decided the included excursion was a bit much for us and decided to relax on that veranda all we could see was the cabin on the boat buoyed up next to us that was an arm’s length away! On our Avalon Danube cruise we chose the swan aka aquarium deck. Even thought the weather was too chilly for any outdoor deck enjoyment, we were able to spend time in the indoor common lounges with panoramic views, which was just fine. We booked the same cabin category for our next year’s Rhine cruise and plan on being able to be on deck as much as possible since August ought to be lot more pleasant than November! Personally, the savings of @$1k+ and the differences between a river and ocean cruise, is why we swan deck on the river!
  21. Friends aboard the 9/9 Millennium will be booking for them and us, The cruise we hope to take will not likely be reservable then since we are looking at an Iceland to Boston cruise for August 2024. What is the best strategy for them and for us?
  22. This change from Celebrity proves that somebody on their payroll does follow this Cruise Critic forum! Sadly, all the helpful posts regarding best cabins in a category, also helped Celebrity to designate them as "deluxe" and "prime" and exclude them from the one category loyalty upgrade.
