  1. The free messaging app only works between passengers on the ship. You cannot text off the ship without WiFi calling.
  2. You need to cruise more. The fact is it's costly to desalinate ocean water. That's why it's rarely done in the USA. If it were cheap, California wouldn't have a water shortage. Next time you are on a cruise ask the environmental officer. RCI does absolutely buy municipal water. Plus water on the ship is chlorinated, you are just nose blind to the smell. I spent 40 years with a well, with no chlorine. I can smell it instantly. Sorry, you don't agree, but what I posted is 100% true. "seawater Yes. All drinking water is either distilled from seawater or loaded onboard while the ship is in port. Royal Caribbean adheres to Vessel Sanitation Program standards published by the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS)."
  3. It depends on the ship and location. Frequently RCI purchases municipal water in ports. I've noticed a strong chlorine smell on some ships. That's why I prefer bottled water.
  4. It's supposed to be at the end of your last leg. That's what your B2B letter will tell you. Your mileage may vary. I've read that people have paid other passengers and got their alcohol last night of the first leg.
  5. It's probably the new normal. Each cabin attendant has more cabins. Serenade last week 2PM.
  6. On a B2B2B JS, first week no. Maître'd changed and ate there next two cruises.
  7. Since the Starlink satellites are not in a fixed position (south), things should be better. But the WiFi routers can be a problem There is only one option with Starlink. Check your cruise planner for the prices. If you want the Internet, buy it before the cruise. The prices will be much higher onboard
  8. It's pretty much the same. You should be aware the time for cabin access may slip to 2PM.
  9. There will likely be only one 'formal' night. The other two will be 'dress your best'. Pretty much anything goes since covid.
  10. It's not all for the waiter at most land-based restaurants. Some of their gratuities are shared with the bar staff and busboys.
  11. Yes, your name is posted on a bulletin board in the galley.
  12. Assuming you paid for two entrees? This is what you are going to berate a crew member for?
  13. That's not true at all. You can still be assigned your cabin on boarding day.
  14. You don't need the app or even a phone to check in at the pier. Everything can be done without the app. There are two benefits. 1] the process will go slightly quicker, 2] suites or pinnacles might get through the process quicker with shorter lines.
  15. I see your point, but on RCI there is another POV. RCI bartenders are required to use jiggers. My problem is bartenders rarely fill them, and some are worse than others. As you are aware the top of the jigger flares out so if you don't fill them, you don't get a proper pour. It's especially evident with cognac or a shot. There can be a significant difference when I order a double Grand Marnier, a visible difference. I'm just asking for all that I'm paying for.
  16. If you made your request before sailing, I have zero problem. On this sailing, a good friend of ours was just booted from a table she had for two weeks. I can remember checking our table and finding a table for 6 by the window, only to find our table number had moved to a noisy staging area. We have also witnessed passengers moving the numbers on their own and getting caught. I guess after 51 cruises I should have been aware that other passengers were bribing the head waiters for a different table. Do we now have to bribe them to keep our table?
  17. You do realize someone else loses that table? With traditional dining, you are assigned a table number that appears on your seapass. You are both wrong, the passenger and RCI, RCI has changed tables on us before, and I was very angry. We always check our table location when we board. You aren't assigned a table at a restaurant unless you have a large party. It's totally different.
  18. RCI is experimenting with 7:45 late traditional. The 7 PM show has never ended in 45 minutes. The cruise director takes at least 5 minutes, then it takes 5 minutes (at least) to walk the length of the ship. You will be late for 7:45.
  19. I've been in a few GS on Radiance class. I can only remember once hearing chairs being moved. It's the JS under the Windjammer that are a major noise problem.
  20. Starlink satellites are not stationary, but there may be gaps in the number overhead at any one moment. Theoretically, a world cruise would be no different than the Caribbean. This is my first experience with Starlink on Serenade. It's been great. Now if they can just install more WiFi routers.
  21. All bartenders have to use jiggers for the pour. Some will fill and add a dash. Others don't even fill them.
  22. Yes, it's new. It has me a little concerned, but I suspect it won't be followed.
