  1. Yes, they are legit. It's the only way I've been cruising Carnival with the exception of my first one (that I paid for). DOU Everywhere on board is nice too and there's always OBC and casino play! It's one of the reasons I just stick with Carnival.
  2. When I cruised on Valentines Day the only thing Carnival did was give the ladies a single, red rose before dinner. When they ran out of roses, they gave carnations. There was nothing else although there were a lot of couples lined up for photos and I think they had a Valentine heart theme for that. I observed. Didn't take any photos as I was sailing solo.
  3. The majority of my cruises have been from NYC and NJ (RCL) and I love leaving from NYC as it's close to home and no flying. Have met a lot of fun people on board. There won't be a lot of kids since it's the start of the school year for the area and it won't be an old fogey cruise either. The Canada itinerary had a nice mix of ages. I like the itinerary for the cooler weather but on one Canada trip in September it was unseasonably warm and hit 85 one day in Halifax. Pack layers of clothes since the temps change throughout the day. It was never freezing and never sweltering. It's still one of my favorite itineraries that I'll do again at some point and was looking at Venezia as well!
  4. I love the beach when there's no one on it except me. Not a fun day with hundreds crammed on chairs an inch apart. Private islands have become ship days!
  5. I get so many Carnival offers, it's sometimes annoying. E-mail and paper mail, numerous times a week. And in between I get phone calls from Carnival regarding the offers I got by mail If I have no interest, I ignore, delete or throw in trash. Currently Platinum but have been getting these since my first time on Carnival...2014 Funny that I get nothing from the other lines I've sailed!
  6. I usually do online check in a day or two before I leave for the cruise even though I can do earlier as Platinum. No rush to board early, Just happy to be on board before the ship sails!
  7. My first 2 cruises on Carnival/ Splendor (Feb and Mar 2014) had really nice samples in a basket. Everything I liked and used. When I went back in May of the same year, there was NOTHING, 9 years ago. Never saw anything since!
  8. Carnival stopped selling Parliaments on all ships in 2019. My old brand and I wasn't happy....LOL
  9. When I first sailed Carnival I had a PVP call me. He had no clue what I was talking about and I had been on 15 cruises on different lines. He said he had never cruised. That was enough for me. Just book on my own since my cruises are not complicated. Drive to port. Get on ship!
  10. No clue. Have never used luggage tags I carry on one bag no matter how long the cruise is.
  11. Yes, the bigger the "slice" on the deck plans, the better the view!
  12. Phone calls only for upsells/upgrades for me. Only said YES to the true free upgrades!
  13. It's only on Embarkation Day. Legend had it for the start of the Journey's cruise on 1/8 Ken Byrne had posted that they make 10 cakes and when they're gone, they're gone. If you board late, you are out of luck!
  14. I get them every single day through casino offers for cruises through 2024.
  15. Yes. I've had good casino hits on cruises and paid my bill in cash before leaving. Nice!
  16. I sailed once on MSC, Divina in 2017, because I was invited as a guest of a friend who was offered it through UR Comped. The ship was very pretty but crew were less than friendly. Lots of European cruisers (met some fun people) Food was OK and I didn't starve. The few shows I saw were very good and I had a few good hits in the casino. Overall, it was OK. I'd go again but wouldn't be in a rush to do it. Perhaps I'd be more inclined if it was another offer as a comp. I did like that they matched your status for your first time from another line so I was able to use my RCL Diamond Plus and got some nice perks for that.
  17. Booked for 2 weeks on Legend, January 8th. I'll throw a hoodie in the suitcase (LOL) Sailed on winter cruises from Baltimore on Pride and it was never "freezing." Oh well...Hot drinks with a shot or two will ease the pain!
  18. It's like anything else. You never know till you give it a try! Those so called all inclusive cruises are anything but. You are definitely paying for your drinks and the other stuff they offer. They are merely inflating your cruise fare. If it's paid for, I'd just do it and analyze it later. Cheers! Enjoy!
  19. Oh I know! The old days of cruising are long gone! That's OK too! A fun time and safe trips are priority, no matter what line. I've had a good time on cruises doing absolutely nothing.
  20. I was only on one Celebrity cruise in 1996 that was a NJ PBA Charter cruise with 1000 partying cops! We went to St.Maarten only for 4 out of 7 days. It was before the dock was there so we had to tender to shore every day. I went as our PBA rep and had a great time. (Celebrity Century) Formal nights were truly formal with gowns and tuxes and the food was wonderful. It was also the only cruise I was ever on where the ship ran out of beer on the way home but we survived (LOL) I'd definitely do Celebrity again!
  21. $1700 for 3 days? Not in this lifetime (LOL)
  22. The first time I sailed Carnival from NYC it was $49 and I had no clue what it was about. Had sailed other lines prior and you got on when you got on.. Never bought it. Was on the ship in about 10 minutes in a blizzard. I still think it's a waste of money but hey, if it floats your boat, go for it! Currently Platinum and still have never waited more than 10 minutes to board. My Carnival sailings have been NYC (8X) and Baltimore (7X). All easy.
  23. Yes, it's listed on my 1/8 Legend cruise and confusing as it looks like the first night but it says "you will be contacted regarding the night." It's a 14 day cruise so my guess is that it will be the Tuesday of the 2nd week (past experience. I know it's never on an elegant night
  24. I've always preferred MDR. With the exception of grabbing a deli sandwich or Guy's Burger at some point, I never eat at the buffet for any meal.
  25. My favorite time is November through March,/April excluding holiday weeks. To get away from the cold. I don't cruise in summer since I live at the beach and kids are out of school so cruises are crowded.
