One day short of diamond level - any ideas?
ZoeyVictoria replied to Rungee's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Which port are you sailing from on December 8? There is a 2-nighter on the Freedom out of Miami on December 5. Starts at $450 total for two in an inside guarantee, then one night in a hotel before your already booked cruise. Sounds like fun! Oops, just realized you said 8-night in December, not December 8! -
Between the weather and the ship sometimes returning to a different terminal, this sounds like a good time of year for Park ‘n Cruise. Our favorite shuttle driver, Penny, now works for a different company. We are going to try Port Canaveral Parking on Courtney Parkway in October (8-night cruise), to see if Penny is right and to take advantage of their first-timer 30% discount.

New AMEX Offer - $150 Back On $500
ZoeyVictoria replied to cmichael1221's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Since November 2015, I have received $1,655 in statement credits from cruise purchases. I did not receive any of the previous batch that were reported, and none this time. I have 182 offers added to my card. I wonder if they are excluding people who have used too many offers and, in my case, don’t use the card for anything else? My SO has received $625 since May 2018, uses his card frequently, and did not receive the latest two batches of offers. There are 175 offers added to his card. We have completely separate, unrelated accounts. -
I might be mistaken because it has been a while since I booked a class, but I remember finding classes under specialty dining.

Just got SCREWED by Royal Up!!!
ZoeyVictoria replied to tink24's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I am confused about which room was no longer available. Are you in your JS, a different JS, or the one-bedroom GS? -
It is a shame to pass up something you were looking forward to, but it was the right thing to do. I did some research on it and in one place on the website I saw “all ages”. But in two other locations, it says “minimum age is 12”. In any case, it would have been a dangerous situation for your son. The kitchen has a glass wall, so at some point you can stop by watch a class for a few minutes.

No, no, take them to help use up the current supply and hopefully they will move on to something better!

I would be very surprised if small children were allowed in the classes. The kitchen has a number of double work stations and the controls for the induction stoves are under the counter (within reach of a small child), as well as other fragile/dangerous items. There will be twenty people listening to instructions from a chef, with two or three assistants walking around the area to help participants, remove dirty dishes, etc. Not at all a safe environment for young children.

Umm, yes, this was for future reference. The thread dates back to 2015.

I have had several offers over the years, the most notable one being $292 to move from an inside to a corner aft balcony. About ten days ago, I received an offer to move from an ocean view on deck 2 to a balcony on deck 7 for $104. This was for a 4-night cruise on the Conquest in mid-November. Just no way to figure out why or when offers are made.

We have cruised thirteen times since the restart, on four different cruise lines. We wear masks only when required, take elevators, attend shows, and have eaten in the MDR, Windjammer, and specialty dining. We wash/sanitize our hands very frequently, avoid most ship excursions (only three since the restart) and tend to stay in adult-only areas as much as possible. My SO had Covid two days after cruise number twelve. We were together over 23 hours a day for seven days on the cruise and constantly after he tested positive, yet I did not get it. We changed nothing for our next cruise and have no plans to do so in the future.

Liquid in luggage (laundry soap)
ZoeyVictoria replied to slyster's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I would just add it to my toiletries bag, where it would get lost in the crowd of all the other stuff. -
I remember a thread from years ago about a couple flying in a day early before cruising out of Fort Lauderdale or Miami. Their tote bag was stolen out of their rental vehicle while they were sightseeing, and their passports were in the tote bag. They were unable to cruise. I live in a condo and refuse to load luggage into my car the night before a cruise. And I take every piece of luggage into my hotel room when we spend the night at the port. I feel a little silly checking in for one night with six pieces of luggage, but I am not willing to take a chance.

We feel the same way. We have cruised thirteen times since the restart, with five more booked this year, and have taken three short land trips in the last few months. But I am not happy about the change in testing requirements because I also have concerns about people knowingly getting on the ship with Covid, flu, or other communicable illnesses. I am aware of the short incubation period, the chances of becoming infected on the way to the ship, etc., but I would still like to avoid as many known sources of infection as possible.

Using Nomi for covid test (Port Canaveral)
ZoeyVictoria replied to wednesday's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I have used Nomi in Palmetto four times and in Bradenton to sail on Independence of the Seas in June. Never a problem, not even a second glance. If you register online in advance, it saves a lot of time on site. There were several people on their phones doing the registration at the entrance to the testing site in June -
Testing still mandatory for over 6 day cruises
ZoeyVictoria replied to hazeleyes46's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Exactly the same for us. Four night cruises are great, five is the perfect number. We are booked on 6, 8 and 9 nights, with no immediate plans for four or five. But testing is easy for us and I like knowing that nobody who is Covid-positive is able to board the ship anyway. -
Many (if not most) of the cruisers anecdotally reporting Covid are stating they got sick on the last day of the cruise or within two days of debarking. With so many of Royal’s cruises including Coco Cay, guests there are exposed only to other guests who also tested negative two days earlier, immediately preceded or followed by a day at sea. It is day three before many guests are exposed to people other than those on the ship with them, people who have not been recently tested. Add two or three days for incubation, and this could be one of the reasons for many infections occurring at the end of cruises. This might factor into the decision to have different protocols based on the length of the cruise.

Id For Boarding - Lost License
ZoeyVictoria replied to frisbeewife's topic in Royal Caribbean International
If he is 22 with an expired passport, how old was he when the passport was issued? I doubt that “photo i.d.” means “childhood photo”. -
Thank you, that was exactly what I need to know!

Thank you! The other two will be new to us and we can easily find something else to do on Invitation to Dance night. -
Recent Explorer Cruisers-Questions
ZoeyVictoria replied to GWP-OKC's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We are looking forward to six nights on the Explorer in August. Can anyone tell us what shows should be available? There is only one Royal show that we don’t care for and always skip, hoping Invitation To Dance is not on the Explorer. -
Anybody every change your cruise date to an earlier date?
ZoeyVictoria replied to ABQrobin's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
I did that last month, changing the Paradise to the Freedom. I kept the same booking number and the money stayed with the booking. No penalties. -
Yes, the $442 for two, $280 solo prices include port fees/taxes. Without an additional $100 dollars off, it is dirt cheap. If that was also applied, it would be cheaper to cruise for four nights than buy groceries to eat at home 😂
-
No, I don’t qualify for the 340+ points promo, but there have been a couple of dates on the Indy lately with reduced solo supplements. August 29 a couple of weeks ago and now September 26 is unbelievably low. Possibly more dates, I haven’t checked any others. Insides start at $150 cruise fare, the police/fire discount reduces that to $119 with a solo rate of $178. With port fees/taxes, it is $442 total for two people, $280 solo. I will give Casino Royale a call. It is encouraging that nobody has responded with negative experiences. I absolutely do not need another cruise on September 26, but I do need to know about the offer generally.
