  1. Isn’t this the first time we have heard about a Royal Up email other than an invitation to bid? The initial bids recently began showing as “submitted” instead of “pending”, and now the email. Sounds like the program has been updated or improved.
  2. I believe everyone else has reported all bids changing to “submitted”. Yours is the first reported “pending”. My guess is either it missed the conversion to “submitted” or “pending “ is now the next step in the process of winning a bid. Please let us know. When is your cruise?
  3. I wish CC had the ability to use the 🙄 😳 🤮 and 😡 emojis.
  4. Mine all changed to “submitted”. It looks like a small change in procedure to me.
  5. I keep looking, also. We already have a cruise every month until the end of the year, so I don’t know why I think we should squeeze another in. That money would be better spent in the casino, working towards a Prime cruise.
  6. Our original vaccine cards from Publix were in bad shape in spite of plastic sleeves and careful handling. The labels from the vials were applied off the edge of the card, folded in the middle of the information, and the ink was faded right from the start. The pharmacist at Publix made up new cards for us at the time we received our second boosters. They are handwritten and he started a second card for that second booster. We have cruised three times since then (Royal, Princess, Carnival) and there has been no problems or extra scrutiny at all.
  7. I checked into a rental years ago. During the conversation it was revealed that they need to be parked in regular parking spaces, which are are extremely hard to find, so I did not attempt it.
  8. $314 if you happen to be retired from a law enforcement agency. Now I want to go!
  9. On the day we hit 80 points, we walked past the DL and saw the concierge standing just outside the door. We politely introduced ourselves and mentioned how pleased we were to become Diamond. He wasn’t impressed, and we saw the inside of the DL on our next cruise.
  10. There are several credit cards offering $8 statement credits for spending $12 at AARP. I used Chase Freedom for mine, so a membership for $4.
  11. We were on the Conquest on Christmas 2021. We were amazed by the number of families wearing matching Christmas pajamas - all day. We don’t even wear that type of pajamas, but we still felt a little left out. There was a show on Christmas afternoon, where they handed out Santa hats and wristbands with large (loud) jingle bells. That was followed by Christmas carols around the tree in the atrium.
  12. Yes, I agree. Unless you sit at the vanity for any reason. We booked a square cabin for the Celebration in October 2023, before we had actually sailed in the square cabin on the Mardi Gras. Not sure what we are going to do about it, hopefully upgrade it. We have been in the very aft (square) and the very forward locations (premium interior) and weren’t crazy about either. The one we have booked is mid-ship, close to the elevators, which is why we are putting off making a change.
  13. We live in Florida within four hours of four ports and have very rarely (twice) flown to a port. We really want to go to the southern Caribbean ports from San Juan. We are considering February 2024 because surely the airline industry will have it under control by then. But, that is what we thought about the pandemic at the beginning.
  14. I had one in September. It looked larger on the deck plan, but didn’t really have any advantages other than looking different from the “same old” cabins. The positive is the bathroom door does not clash against the closet door if both are opened at the same time. The negative was sitting at the desk/vanity to dry my hair and put on makeup. The chair/ottoman weighs a ton and has to be dragged out from under the vanity. Once it is pulled out, there is not enough space to open the drawers. I normally keep my hair dryer, brushes, etc. in the bottom drawer and leave it open while I am doing my hair and makeup. No, not in the square cabin.
  15. Test before you leave home. Maybe you will test positive and will have an excuse to stay home.
  16. When I find them, I take them off the ship and leave them on a beach. I have taken a duck from one cruise line and hidden it on another one. And I took a few to the beach here at home in Bradenton.
  17. And very useful if I wake up in the middle of the night and want to do the check in at that time instead of waiting. I can handle that while half asleep.
  18. I have a “cheat sheet” with photos of our passports and phone numbers for our contacts. It really speeds up the check in process for me, and doesn’t require removing passports from the safe storage location.
  19. If you cruise frequently or intend to reschedule this cruise in the near future, it would be a good idea to get a PCR test showing a positive result now. If you are one of the people who will test positive for a while (up to 90 days), that test and a Certificate of Recovery will get you on a ship, and can be used instead of a negative test for up to 90 days.
  20. This is not the first time they have had problems with emails not being sent. We went back and requested printed results. They were not surprised, made no comment, and quickly printed results.
  21. I think the change is related to the date, as tomorrow is July 1.
  22. I was considering a Havana room on the Celebration yesterday.. I became less and less interested as I watched You Tube videos. The Havana Bar has a live band playing Cuban music at night and while the music was very good, it is not conducive to relaxation. Then I asked my PVP for his opinion. He has never had anything negative to say in the past, but he reported clients being disappointed in the experience on this class of ship vs. the previous classes with Havana areas. Also said that when he was touring the Mardi Gras, a fellow employee thought the pool was actually a hot tub and was looking around for the pool. I am still waiting to see what Jimbo has to say, but gave up on the Havana booking. Welcome to Cruise Critic!
  23. I can tell you that at debarkation from the Independence last week, Keys were given the same departure time as suites and Pinnacles. Diamond and Diamond Plus were given nothing. Then while in line to finally get off the ship, the line was completely stopped to allow a very large number of Keys to leave ahead of everyone else. I am certain that some kind of special arrival time arrangements will be made for those willing to pay for the Key,
