  1. We just received an email for a cruise we are on in January 2023 and this was part of that email: Since you are sailing on an Enhanced Guidelines voyage we wanted to share some important information for your upcoming cruise: You must be fully vaccinated and up to date which means you have received all the doses in an authorized or approved primary COVID-19 vaccine series at least 14 days prior to embarkation. Up to date means that a guest is fully vaccinated, and received at least 1 booster dose, if eligible before embarkation. Guests are considered "up to date" from the date of receiving their booster dose. Please remember to upload your proof of vaccination while getting OceanReady. You must also upload proof of a supervised negative test taken within 3 days of boarding. Guests may also have to wear masks and undergo testing during the voyage.
  2. The three ships we were on this year were also the same. We could book for our cabin but not our family member's cabin. It does make sense because it is not far to others who were first/come first serve and I think the folio could be contested if someone wanted to claim that that person doing the booking had no right to charge their folio. Again it sounds like the famous Princess inconsistency is at work.
  3. Or everyone dressed as Fortuna Luck......it would be amazing!!!
  4. Yes this is true. There was no contact with Canadian authorities and never quite sure what ArriveCAN was about and we never used it entering Canada.
  5. Agree. They are not on a special list but we have noticed since the medallion and the cruises that we have done we are usually addressed often by our first names now. Usually we have to correct them and ask them to call us "Mi Lady" or "Mi Lord".
  6. Princess just needs to add these charges into the price of a cruise and quit playing games with their passengers and employees. "The “Crew Appreciation” is a daily amount for each guest that will be automatically added to your onboard account for your convenience, to recognize the efforts of a wide variety of crew members who contribute to the experiences of all our guests." I am never impressed with the service I get on a cruise ship. It is what I expect for what I pay so Princess just needs to own up to the issue and pay their crew a better wage.
  7. Talk about insane fears......luggage in the ocean and food spiked......wow....never heard of such a thing nor do I worry about it....but I have no problem practicing generosity with others who are helpful......keep those conspiracies from down under coming. ROFLO!!
  8. I second that. Go to Scandinavia where much of my family lives and "quality service" is a foreign concept and almost non-existent.
  9. Isn't America Great!! More power to them for being really smart and resourceful in scoring such a beneficial and well paying job job.
  10. We travel a lot usually with usually six 26 inch suitcases and 2 carryons. We always appreciate the help and no matter where we are in the world it is usually $5.00 per case when we arrive and when we leave, Always appreciate people who provide a helpful service of any kind where ever we are. Love tipping street performers too.
  11. Sounds like you play games with the staff. On all the cruises we did this year never had a communication problem nor heard staff saying they want to discard masks. We got to know them very well because we had Club Class dining and play the table games in the casinos. "Thick Foreign Accent" remark is really telling about how you view the world. Most of the staff speaks better English than I do.
  12. This is so true. We never got the impression that the staff masking is an issue for them but more for their job security. Some staff still get Covid even with all the precautions they take. It will not be a pretty sight when they are all coughing too and serving you food or drinks!! Increase the quarantine cabins.
  13. So WRONG....just kidding...😀
  14. This has been our experience on 50 days of cruising this year on Princess. SUGGESTED dress code is lax and almost anything goes. However, many people still dress up but not what I would call Formal Attire. Things have definitely changed on the 4 ships we were on and for the good I believe. It was never enforced anyway and people who want to dress formal can always sail Cunard ships.
  15. You can enter as many times as you want for $20 for each entry. On the door entry pad there is a button that says "Prizes". Every time you push it is will charge your folio $20 for an entry that day. How do we know this? One of our traveling companions thought if was free and pushed the button quite a few times and their folio was charged $100 for 5 extra entries that day. They did not read the fine print after pushing the "Prizes" button. Princess was reluctant to remove the charges until they found out there was nowhere in the state room there was any information explaining the program and also that the person's Medallion was on the blink. They way they have it set up that the unsuspecting can get charged multiple times without really knowing what is is happening is verging on the border of a bonafide scam!!
  16. You can access their fitness centers 24 hours a day unlike the Grand Class where they worry about disturbing cabins below the fitness center.
  17. Just in Icy Straight and it is basically the Princess Cays of Alaska. Totally fake and a rip off port from what we experienced. Much rather have done Skagway.
  18. We are the Ruby now and Tuxes appear to be an endangered species…. This whole narrative that Princess Dining rooms on formal nights are flooded with black tie tuxes and women in ball gowns is pure cruise critic mythology!!!
  19. Amazing how everyone is talking about how dressing formal raises the bar but they have no problem rolling in the mud and slinging insults at those who disagree with them.....very hypocritical IMHO.
  20. This is the one of the exact attitudes of why the US is going to keep floundering with Covid....pure nonsense.
  21. I agree. We were on a recent TA and even though almost all passengers were vaxed and boosted and had tested negative to board the ship it became apparent that about 8 to 9 days into the cruise that Covid was becoming a problem and by the time we reached South Hampton there were over 200 cases of people being quarantined to their cabins during the cruise and food brought to their doors in styrofoam containers. We wore masks the whole time and were lucky not too get infected. It was no biggie either. But with Princess' new lack of Covid policies and the new ultra contagious variants it seems onboard spread of Covid seems to be happening fairly easily. Last thing I would worry about is wearing a mask on board a cruise.
  22. Agree totally and on the cruises we have been on this year we enjoyed the ones that Princess had strict protocols in place and they enforced them. On the TA we were on Princess had very few required protocols and by the time we got to South Hampton the ship was like a plague ship with many cases of Covid and lots of people quarantined to their cabins. Even when sitting on the balcony you could hear some people coughing their lungs out as they were isolated in their cabins. The reality is that Covid is continually mutating and creating new variants and the predictions are that there will be a big surge again with the recent variants. And even though some are mild others could come along that could be even more severe. Because of this we are canceling most of our bookings with Princess for the unseen future. They know what works and what does not and they are not willing to make the hard choices anymore and just are encouraging infections amongst their passengers by their lack of safe practices.
  23. We always ask for the change. It is estimated that the Las Vegas casinos make from 7 million dollars to 12 million dollars a year just off of small change left in slots machine that people do not bother to get a cash out ticket and cash in. I am sure it is just another way for the casino to add to the profit line. We have never been asked about rounding it up or down to the nearest dollar?
  24. Really not much new on old Princess except the fact that you can now wear shorts to the MDR on Formal Nights..... 🙂
