Yes! Talk about delusional and entitled. And his “caretaker” brother didn’t help the situation. I knew as soon as I heard “protein shake” it was going downhill. And I’m so glad I wasn’t on the plane with them with him in a diaper.

Thanks, I just know I’m about to go down a rabbit hole. 😆

@ReneeFLL..thanks for asking about my new bionic knee!  I  am now 17 months PO and doing very well.  It is not anything like my original bones, but I will take it, as the discomfort is gone from the arthritis and bone on bone.

Happy to hear the pain is gone. Are you still having to do PT? It doesn’t seem like that long ago.

Yep I actually interviewed him and Bryon Hunt (NY Giants) for a short article for a game program. In college I thought Armstrong who was an All-American was better than Michael Carter (All Pro/NFL) but  Nose Guard job is not necessarily to make tackles/plays but to ocuppy the line so LB's can make the play. He was in my graduating class in believe

I lost touch with him after he graduated and went to the Eagles.

I think it makes no sense to whip out cash for a small purchase. Then you have to deal with change. Considering the supposed aversion to germs that some here have, why touch disgusting US currency?

if you use a debit card the money comes from the same place as the cash you seem to prefer. So much easier in all ways including budgeting. You have a running balance at your finger tips.

    For those with a little

    self

control, use a credit card and never pay $600 for an hour flight to Miami again.

That’s exactly why I like to charge everything. People just need to make sure they can pay the bill off in full each month or it’s not worth it with the interest rates.

I like to pay for things with cash, and rarely carry a credit card anywhere unless I specifically know I'll need it...

I like to charge everything to get AA miles. Big and small purchases. Pay it off at the end of every month so there are no fees. We fly mostly using miles.

The last time I flew SW there were probably at least that many wheelchairs lined up for preboarding. I overheard one woman saying “I can walk” and her daughter came running from getting her Starbucks and said “no mom you need a wheelchair”.  In other words we need to board first without paying for an early place in line.  I do like SW but they need to do something about their boarding routine. I wouldn’t even mind paying for a reserved seat when flying them. It more than makes up for it with the two free checked bags.

There was one lady on here that said when she had sprained her ankle they (I think it was SW, but could be wrong) let her board early. Next time she flew again, she pretended she had an injured ankle just so she could board early. It’s people like that the world doesn’t need them teaching the younger ones because it will never improve. It’s all about me, me, me.

Battery died again today. Apparently, it’s five years old, and that’s old for car batteries? 🤷🏼‍♀️ I guess I’m glad Mr. Megan is home. New one will be here Saturday. Our 15th anniversary is tomorrow.

Sorry about the car problems. I absolutely hate them. Happy Anniversary to the both of you.

    @scubagal44 Happy belated birthday.

@Greenpea2...back in the "day" meaning light years ago, there were always lots of small lawn gig folks in the summer.

In Florida we definitely had to  mow once a week, sometimes twice a week, depending on rainfall and grass growth.

Lots of young high school kids back then.  Times might have changed.  Hoping you can find someone with reliable work habits that will take care of your needs and not break the bank!

It’s hard to find high school kids around here these days to do any work. How is your knee doing?

@Greenpea2 Owning a house can be fun. You can make it yours and decorate how you want to. Expenses do add up so be aware of that. Here in Fort Lauderdale the grass has to be cut at least once a week most of the year and sometimes every 5 days. We pay a one person business 50.00 per cut. That doesn’t include weed pulling or anything else, just a cut. Also, if you have a pool = $$$. It’s so much easier having someone else deal with it.

@sid_9169 Glad to hear things came out 😊 fine for you.

I’m so far behind. Tried cramming 3 months worth of work into 1 and got so far behind on my threads here and it’s not pretty. 🤣 Anyway will catch up soon.

    Thanks

We were and probably shall be the best team money can buy!!!

I actually worked for the SMU athletic Department during the glory Mustang Mania days when SMU had the best record in the Nation from 1980-1985. I was fraternity brother of the QB Lance Mcllhenny  and All Pro RB Craig James and knew most of the team

I still follow the teams, but I've stepped back from actively supporting the program after attending every SMU home game from 1964-2019. (I cheated my Mom was a once Chairman of the Foreign  Language Department and Professor of Spanish and Latin-American Literature so I started at 3-4 years old)

I truly believe in the benefits of college education for both men and women especially for those that didn't otherwise have an opportunity to benefit from a college education. My child-hood hero was Jerry Levias who was the first African American to earn a scholarship in the Southwest Conference. SMU in particular has done a fantastic job of developing student-athletes of diverse backgrounds into successful community and  business leaders which exemplifies the goals of the student athlete model.

I do believe College athletes should be paid but I'm disgusted that College athletics is turning into a sport for Billionaires to buy and trade athletes (the recruiting game)  without any consideration of the educational mission or goals of these great educational institutions. I wish college athletics was still a place where the primary goal was the development and education of student athletes.

But as long as SMU's Billionaires are willing to plow their cash into the program then SMU will be a player. At some point some one is going to ask why so much money should be diverted to this new model of college athletics when the average student is saddled with hundreds of thousands of debt just to get an education. Caveat: Should the American taxpayer subsidize charitable deductions for this type of athletic model when it has nothing to do with education?

I’m assuming you knew Harvey Armstrong?

Car problems are the worst!!  I had to change the battery on my Ford Escape--what a chore!  I had to go to YouTube to figure out how to do!  I had to remove the windshield wipers, plus a flap, plus a bunch of other stuff and then angle out the battery!!  I'm going to check out where the battery is when I buy my next new car!

That’s crazy that they make it so hard to get to a battery.

If only life were that simple. I feel like I've had a rope around my neck all my life.

But I also cant just turn my sister and her hubby loose either. When you are dealing with a special needs person, you cant. Yesterday for instance she was calling me every 5 minute. Her petit mal was so bad she couldnt talk. A good day she says half a sentence and waits for you to finish it. Believe me when I say it's more complicated when dealing with someone without normal life skills and mental skills. Add in physical problems.

But she loves loves loves being married and called Mrs. And they both love the house. I want her as happy as possible, I just dont want to be the one coping. I moved back to dallas to take care of them all over 20 years ago so I've forgotten myself how to let go.

Happy birthday. ... I see I missed your birthday.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Why is she constantly calling you? Is it that important or can she just email you? All those calls sound annoying and stressful.

@derorim I have a cactus that was grown from a slip of one that my Grandmother had in her house over 60 years ago.

It is on an opposite schedule than your plant.

Just one or two blooms at Christmas, but more blooms in April.Could be an Easter Cactus!

Do you feed your cactus anything?

I have given my plant the Miracle Grow fertilizer sticks-when I remember to do so.

I think it has survived through my benign neglect.

There are buds on the plant now. Hoping for some flowers soon!

Yes 4 posters in this thread have that color with some really beautiful furniture. Turned out my painter just painted the walls that color, ceiling white. For such a big price I assumed he was painting everything, but I'm not so sure what it needed, havent been there yet. Brownish grey, it goes with everything. Lol it's very agreeable.

Hahaha. Did I mention him bragging about punching out his hc grandson. They hadnt moved in a month and 6 or so police cars were there neighbors told me. Yes the kid has a mouth. He has flippers for hands and had a leg amputated. Son of my bil favorite who is the one I mentioned taking my stuff to sell in her store. Yes I'm sure the kid has issues, but so does my sister. He called his mom the B word and others, so big shot bil punched him, 3 times. Kid called 911 and police came. Bil had to go to court and pay a fine and was on probation 6 months last year. So brave punching a kid with amputated leg and no hands. I think there but for Karen's money goes my sister. She can be mouthy too.

I told him to stop. He said if the kids mom his daughter just would punch him out that would solve the respect problem. He doesnt listen to me.

He wanted to fly to maine and I said I can book it. Oh we want to fly in and just drive around. He wouldnt hear of booking hotels ahead. He wants to drive around looking for a vacancy sign. Finally they gave up. Now they want to plan a trip to ireland and just go. He keeps saying stop in a pub like tv movies and share a pint. None of them drink. No planned hotels, just go and play it by ear. I'm refusing to rise to the bait. Let them do what they will.

To homestead the house karen my sister needs a ID with the address on it. Last year he said he did it. Not done. House isnt home steaded. He promised to do it yesterday. I'm paying the property taxes, they dont care. He makes promises he doesnt keep. Homesteading the house is the last thing before I move. She doesnt drive so no drivers license, but texas issues a texas ID and address has to match. 3 days ago I got the rejection letter from dallas property appraisal district. He told me last year he did update her ID but didnt. His bad memory always used as a excuse. One more thing then I'm free of here.

When you move you should completely ignore him for any more requests like paying and doing for stuff for them. They sound spoiled and will keep expecting it if you don't cut them off. You have given them so much when you didn't have to and they treated you badly. You will enjoy you new life taking care of just yourself. You deserve it. Go and be happy.

Wednesday was the anniversary of my official diagnosis. Time sure does fly!  Physically things have changed a lot.  I am not going list those changes.  I think the one thing that has changed for the better is my love of life and those around me!  I give thanks for each new day!  So much love shown to me and my family.  An example of how we have been blessed, remember me telling about our new neighbor, on her own, came over and shoveled the snow off our driveway?  Well, yesterday she surprised us with a great homemade strawberry pie!  We are still having people bringing us meals each week to help ease the burden off Sharon and to bring a smile to our face.  And what I love the most is so often I still hear someone add their name to the long list from around the world of those that are thinking and praying for us.  So special!

John, you are such a special person with a great attitude. You make lemonade out of lemons in so many ways. Looking forward to more hugs in February.

Thanks everyone for the BD wishes. We had a great cruise. On my birthday they had Key Lime Pie at lunch (I saw it on the Coastal Kitchen menu), but we ate in the WJ. I stopped by to see I they could keep a piece for my birthday for that night. I never ask for stuff like that from the crew, but it was KLP and my birthday that night! I was happy they kept a piece for me. I didn't know Mike had ordered a cake when we first boarded. He has never done this before on a ship since I/we don't need a whole cake and I'd also prefer to drink my desserts. 🍸🍹😊

I had my KLP and we took the cake back to the room with a couple of small plates from the WJ. Since we hadn't touched it, we asked the cabin attendant and his wife to cut 2 small pieces off for us and the rest was for them. They seemed happy, but they would never look unhappy so who knows. Hopefully they enjoyed it or shared it with others. It was rich, chocolaty and really good.

Before dinner in the lounge I ordered a Chocolate Martini, but immediately changed my mind to a Salted Caramel Martini. Christopher couldn't remember which one I ordered last so he made both. He put both our names in the chocolate one. Silly waiter, did he really think I was going to share it with Mike? He definitely does not know me! 😂
