FredGold Posted February 12, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2018 i know it is no longer allowed. Do people still do it. What happens if caught? Do they give a warning, or straight to a fine.
hftmrock Posted February 12, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2018 i know it is no longer allowed. Do people still do it. YES What happens if caught? Do they give a warning, or straight to a fine. I believe a warning first and then to a fine. I think if they tried to deny it and was caught, it could go straight to a fine but I believe a fine is rare unfortunately . Njkrewzer Posted February 12, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 12, 2018 Yes, people still do it. It is very hard to prove someone was smoking, as smoke travels, so a fine almost never happens.

Son of a son of a ... Posted February 12, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 12, 2018 Yes, folks do smoke. Usually can smell it wafting in the air occasionally. No more offensive than walking through the casino. As long it is not at night when we are asleep, not a problem for us.
Crzy4my2 Posted February 12, 2018 #8 Share Posted February 12, 2018 Yes they do it.. In the casino its different because it's allowed and it's expected..but when I'm sitting on my balcony trying to breath in the fresh air, I don't want to smell it. Our neighbors last year on the Epic smoked non stop on their balcony. He was caught. The cabin steward smelled it I guess, went to the door and the guy answered the door with a cigarette in his hand.. My son was heading back to the room so he heard some of what was going on. I guess the passenger was told that if he was caught again they would be fined and possibly kicked off at the next port(not sure if they would do that?) hftmrock Posted February 12, 2018 #9 Share Posted February 12, 2018 Nobody in their right mind could possibly be offended by an e-cig on a balcony. You can smoke one in a windowless enclosed room and not smell it. It's impossible to know someone is even smoking one unless you stick your head around the divider and look. MAYBE if you have one of those gross cotton candy flavored e-cig juices or something like that it could be a problem, but if you use scentless there really is no issue. so if they allow the e-cigs.. they allow the gross cotton candy or something like that so its just easier to just follow the rules on the ship

This is 2018, where people get offended by what color shoelaces you're wearing lol. I'm with you, there's no flame and no smell, therefore no fire hazard and no offensive odor. have at it. Rare BirdTravels Posted February 12, 2018 #11 Share Posted February 12, 2018 when open it changes the temperature of the room forcing the room to get more air conditioning down the line and other rooms get warm because of it Incorrect. When the balcony door is open, the air conditioning shuts off.
esm54687 Posted February 12, 2018 #12 Share Posted February 12, 2018 I think using an e-cig on balconies is fine, because there's no smell and the vapor disperses before it can even reach the dividers of adjoining balconies. Smoking actual cigs is horribly inconsiderate, just like playing music on your balcony. Once I was stuck next to a trash couple that did both. e-cigarettes are specifically named and treated the same as tobacco cigarettes, pipes, cigars, etc.... not allowed in stateroom or bacony https://www.ncl.com/faq#smoking

And how do you stop people from bringing the bad ones that explode versus what are considered safe ones? My daughter uses one, so I am not against them. I am, however, against an explosion and/or fire on the cruise ship that I am on.

L&J_2013 Posted February 12, 2018 #19 Share Posted February 12, 2018 e-cigarettes are specifically named and treated the same as tobacco cigarettes, pipes, cigars, etc.... not allowed in stateroom or bacony https://www.ncl.com/faq#smoking Let's be real. This is because of tobacco industry lobbying. I am a non smoker and HATE how tobacco smells. I have friends over who use e cigs in my home right across my table and it's not stinky or offensive at all. It makes no sense. I disagree, there is a smell, especially the flavoured ones and as an asthmatic they too upset my breathing as cigarettes do.
