rcarrosq Posted February 18, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2018 We are cruising on Royal Princess out of Ft Lauderdale FL on March 20th, but flying in on the 19th and staying in a hotel which does have shuttle service to the ship on the 20th. Can anyone tell me if there are taxi's at the terminal area when the ship returns and about how much it would cost for the 2 of us? I was going to buy transfer from my TA but he assured me there are lots of taxis. Just want to be sure. Thanks
CruiserBruce Posted February 18, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 18, 2018 If you look on the Florida Departures board, here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=495 you will find dozens of threads discussing taxis and costs. There will be long lines of taxis. Port to airport is about $15 before tip, price will vary by Terminal a little. Uber will be cheaper.
teknoge3k Posted February 18, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 18, 2018 There are a ton of taxis at FLL but Uber/Lyft is going to be your best bet. Cheaper, cleaner, nicer...
Langley Cruisers Posted February 18, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 18, 2018 IF you take a taxi, be sure the driver turns the meter on. There is NO flat rate between the two points, nor a "per person" rate. It is a fairly short distance and should not cost more than $13 - 15 for up to 4 people. In addition they are much more pleasant. You don't have to wait for the bus to fill up with a cab, and you also don't have to wait while it drops people off for different airlines. Cabs are the way to go.
paul929207 Posted February 18, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 18, 2018 Lots of taxis. They cost about $15 depending on traffic.
Reina del Mar Posted February 19, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 19, 2018 Think we paid $15 dollars for two people Easter 2017. Very easy to get taxi and short journey. Depending on your hotel....it might be cheaper and easier to take a taxi to port as well. We stayed at Embassy Suites where the hotel transfer was $9 per person and taxi to port, terminal 2 cost $12 incl tip. Valet called taxi, was there within minutes. Rare Keith1010 Posted February 19, 2018 #8 Share Posted February 19, 2018 All of the feedback is right. Taxis readily available, about $15.00 to the airport before tip and as CruiserBruce mentioned the Florida Departures Board is a great source of information on this very topic. Krazy Kruizers Posted February 19, 2018 #9 Share Posted February 19, 2018 Unless your hotel offers free shuttle to the pier, you are better off using a taxi -- cheaper. We use taxis all the time -- to the ship, to the hotel, to the airport, etc.
marco Posted February 19, 2018 #10 Share Posted February 19, 2018 We took a cab last month. There was (and normally is) a parade of cabs waiting. Fare was $15 and once you're out of the terminal area, it's about a 10 min ride. VERY easy, very convenient.
