Oasis windjammer don't waste your time

Just back from Oasis May 17th sailing - tip of the day/week/year

Don't waste your time or bother going to the Windjammer for breakfast lunch" etc. it has completely lost value, food quality etc. you have so many better options, Park Cafe, Solarium Cafe, even the Wipeout Cafe. Food much fresher, friendlier atmosphere, no "pushing and shoving" cleaner, better organized, must I go on. Bottom line avoid the Windjammer!

Out of all the ships I've sailed on with RCI the Oasis WJ was the most disappointing for many reasons...and I'm usually a fan of the WJ's.

On the other hand , i like the windjammer on the Oasis . Been on the Oasis

twice and have no complaints.I always seem to find something appealing. We were greeted by staff at the entrance at busy times and we were escorted to a table . No complaints for me.

I agree! When we went to the WJ for breakfast the first morning on the Allure, there was no where to sit......anywhere. We ended up sitting out on the pool deck in lounge chairs. It was windy and everything went flying! Never again! We did room service, Johnny Rockets and the Wipe Out for breakfast after that. Those other options were wonderful. :)

I thought the Wipeout Cafe was really good for breakfast. Wish we had tried it earlier on our cruise. Loved sitting outside watching the sea and enjoying a leisurely breakfast.

WJ wasn't super great for my May 10th sailing on the Oasis. But then again it wasn't horrible. I will say, I didn't go there as much as I have past cruises. I went to Park Café twice and Johnny Rockets and the Main Dining room a few times too. Mainly because I knew it would be less crowded.

I tried to say the same thing on Facebook but was accused of being a "Debbie Downer" - lol.

We were on Allure May 4th and every time we tried to go to Windjammer - we ran into lines. And it didn't matter if it was early morning, early afternoon, late afternoon. It was anytime it was open. I laughed it off the first couple of days because frankly - I'm on vacation. But I was so amazed that there were LINES in the WJ. I have never seen this before. It's not like I need to go there - but I have never experienced that on another royal ship.

I totally agree with you! If you look at my past posts - I was the biggest cheerleader. This cruise changed me.

The selection of other ships was NOT there. I kept walking around the first day and said to a cruising friend - where's the rest of it? It was no doubt the worst WJ selection. I thought I was missing another side. He looked at me like I had grown two heads lol.

I love Royal however im very realistic. Others seem to jump on you here for disagreeing or speaking the truth.

But sorry - if I am paying money for my vacation and things have changed and not for the better and THIS is not the royal I am used to. Then I have to call it as I see it.

Agreed! The Windjammer is my least favorite place on every ship I've been on but the Oasis was the worst. We called it "running the gauntlet" as in "Do you feel like running the gauntlet for breakfast this morning or just going to Park Cafe instead? :D

Felt the same way about Allure's WJ last week, and Oasis's on both of my sailings. Really a sad and sorry venue. I'm glad to hear they're at least making noise about improving it for the Quantum Class... It's just not a good venue on the Oasis class. Fortunately, there are other options on the Oasis Class.

Is the WJ on the bigger ships the same size as the WJ on the smaller ships? Seems to me that on a mega ship, they should have more than one buffet. Maybe even on different decks.

Lol, I've found that generally it takes a pig to refer so casually to a whole group of people as cows. I'm sure the commoners don't miss your company.

We go in there very early am. Have done a dinner or two also in there but not lunch. Depends what you are looking fork

It's smaller on the Oasis/Allure but that is because there are more options around the ship. If you don't go to the Windjammer you could always do Park Cafe, Solarium Bistro, Vitality Cafe, Wipeout Cafe, Johnny Rockets and of course MDR or room service.

If I'm awake early enough for breakfast I usually do Wipeout Cafe or Johnny Rockets.

I don't like it for breakfast or lunch on Allure/Oasis, IMHO the best breakfast was the made to order eggs in wipe out. We did do one dinner on our March Oasis cruise and it was actually pretty decent...

Lol, I've never been on a royal caribbean cruise so I can neither defend nor condemn the food. My issue is your casual reference to the diners there as cows. It strikes me as low class and uncalled for. I didn't see anyone here doing what I would call cheerleading but I see you trying to turn the conversation to a decidedly negative tone.

Cruise ship food in my experience isn't worth enjoying, it's for staving off hunger.

Agree completely. Very little variety and the selection you find in the Windjammer on other ships is nowhere to be found. It was a very disappointing experience. Glad there are better options on the ship.

We eat many meals in the WJ on our 14night cruise on IOS, we loved the casual feel to it. We were very surprised on Oasis how much smaller the WJ was, and yes we did queue most days but not for long. It didn't spoil our enjoyment though. We are hoping it's not the same on Radiance in August.
