FLcruisergrl Posted July 17, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 17, 2018 Grand Cayman has great scuba diving! The ship usually has a try it type of excursion, but I also highly recommend the Lobster Pot Dive Center. My hubby is certified and did some excellent dives with them. zqvol Posted July 17, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 17, 2018 Everyone tenders in at Grand Cayman. The go to excursion is to Sting Ray City. Is it the best? I don't know, but if you have never been up close with a sting ray it's a fun way to spend a morning.
Rare BirdTravels Posted July 17, 2018 #5 Share Posted July 17, 2018 Sign up for a tender time early. Stingray City is the pace to go. No need the fancy catamaran rides. A simple transfer and time with the rays is the best.
ejnsb Posted July 18, 2018 #6 Share Posted July 18, 2018 I agree about Stingray City but be aware that the boats carry a bunch of passengers so each persons time with the Rays is limited. We chartered a boat (with captain and mate) from Ebanks Watersports and had no time restrictions- could also do snorkeling and beach time as we wished. FLcruisergrl Posted July 18, 2018 #9 Share Posted July 18, 2018 Royal Palms Beach Resort Take a shared taxi to this beautiful beach club. I completely agree! We did this on our last cruise, but I wouldn’t consider it “active”!
ready2cruzagain Posted July 18, 2018 #10 Share Posted July 18, 2018 GC is tender. On the Epic make sure and sign up for early tender (8am usually on the Epic). Otherwise you might not get off the ship until 12pm. If you book a NCL excursion then they you will get early tender automatically. Also, make sure and sign up for early tender at Great Stirrup Cay since it is tender. Our friends forgot to sign up for a tender and was not able to get off the boat until 12pm, ship leaves at 2:30. Rare Georgia_Peaches Posted July 18, 2018 #12 Share Posted July 18, 2018 Yes, as others have said, its a tender. and I have to warn, the Epic crew were not so well organized during this tender process when we stopped here last November. Tender reservations? Didn't matter on this particular day. We waited an hour past our tender time and then gave up. The line to tender snaked all around the MDR and then stretched the entire length of the casino. We gave up and went to the pool deck and had a drink. I am hopeful that things run more smoothly now. As for excursion, we've done the shipwreck SNUBA. It was an amazing experience albeit, it was with a different cruise line and through a private company, not the ship. We don't often do excursions, but I'd do this one again. CM
ready2cruzagain Posted July 18, 2018 #13 Share Posted July 18, 2018 When can we sign up for tenders? Sent from my iPad using Forums When you get on the ship you can go to a kiosk and sign up there, or when you get to your cabin you can sign up through your tv. Do it the first day since the early spots usually go on the first day.
