OneParticularHarbour 71 Posted April 14, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2018 We are here on board and waiting for everyone to gather for muster. Check in was quick and we were onboard shortly after arriving at the port. Rooms were ready so dropped off carryons and had lunch outside at Marketplace Buffet. Plenty of variety and enjoyed everything we had. Dinner seatings are at 5:15, 7:15, 9:15 in Ipanema and 5:30, 7:30, 9:30 in Seashore. We have early at 5:15, hoping we receive luggage in time. Our Fantasica drink coupons were in our cabins and we have received a coupon for complimentary dinner for 2 in each cabin (for black status). Have not encountered any unpleasant smells! Toured the thermal spa which is much larger than the one on Divina. Everyone has been very friendly and we are looking looking forward to a great week! Rare Cruisergal1208 Posted April 15, 2018 #6 Share Posted April 15, 2018 Where do they conduct the muster drill, and are PAX require to drag the vests to the drill??Enjoy your cruise;) Locations are scattered and no life vests to the drill. Not even in the cabins. They will be distributed in a real emergency.

OneParticularHarbour 71 Posted April 15, 2018 Author #9 Share Posted April 15, 2018 Thanks everyone! No life vests needed for the lifeboat drill. Our station was in the hall area between the chocolate place and one of the lounges. Had a nice dinner and went to the 8:00 Frank Sinatra show. There are two showings tonight and then 3 showings each night of the rest of the theater shows this week. On deck watching Beauty and the Beast with my daughter now. It’s a beautiful night. We did get a whiff of the toilet smell in the stairwell going down to dinner but it was faint and gone after dinner.

tallnthensome Posted April 16, 2018 #14 Share Posted April 16, 2018 I am embarrassed to say my family of four never even attended the muster drill and nothing at all came of it. No knocks on the door, letters, nothing ......

tallnthensome Posted April 16, 2018 #17 Share Posted April 16, 2018 Why?Why didn't we go? Well, first off we have never missed a muster before. We had just slipped into the main pool with the kids and the pool deck area was very busy when the announcement was made. I swear, nobody cared or moved from the deck to go. I looked around and nobody seemed to care about the usual request to attend. I looked around and people just shrugged it off. I didn't know if this was common on MSC with all the Europeans and different languages being spoke. Since no one else was going we just didn't either and that was that ...... Probably not the right decision ..... but we didn't lose our pool chairs either! :D

The only thing I noticed is that they shut the bars down at 4pm on the button....I got the last drink before they closed the bar by Jungle Pool...LOL
OneParticularHarbour 71 Posted April 18, 2018 Author #19 Share Posted April 18, 2018 Hi, We are in San Juan today so have cell service. Walked to San Cristobal earlier and were the last ones let in there - the whole island lost power just as we walked in to the fort. They said they still lose power intermittently but not usually the entire island. Hopefully it is restored soon for them. The main stores across from the port must be running on generators as they still had power at CVS, Walgreens, and Footlocker. The people both here and in St. Maarten have all been very friendly and welcoming and seem happy to have visitors. We spent a beautiful day at Mullet Bay beach yesterday on St. Maarten. OneParticularHarbour 71 Posted April 18, 2018 Author #20 Share Posted April 18, 2018 I forgot to respond to a pp - we have a balcony and inside room both Fantasica. We have mealtime drinks and also the 12 coupons per person. We have been able to use the coupons for gelato, milkshakes and specialty coffees. Been enjoying the ship and the only complaint we have is the storage in the cabins. I can’t imagine trying to unpack 4 people in one cabin. Bought a fun pass for the kids but haven’t used any of it yet. Zip line was closed both sea days due to wind and the teen club took the kids to do the xd theater so didn’t have to pay for that. Told the kids they better start using it lol- they only have 2 days left. I think they are going to try the zip line this afternoon if it is open. I think the black card get together is this afternoon before dinner.
floridian1 Posted April 18, 2018 #21 Share Posted April 18, 2018 Seaside stops in San Juan next summer but only from 5pm-midnight. How long was the walk to the fort? What is the cost? How long did it take to see the fort? I'm assuming since the fort closes at 6pm I have to get off the ship very fast to see it.
OneParticularHarbour 71 Posted April 18, 2018 Author #22 Share Posted April 18, 2018 (edited) It took about 10 minutes to walk there. The entrance fee was 7.00, 15 and under are free. The fee covers both forts. We spent about 1.5 hours there and left because the kids were getting hot. I didn’t notice what time they close. OneParticularHarbour 71 Posted April 18, 2018 Author #24 Share Posted April 18, 2018 Yes, my kids enjoy exploring that kind of stuff. They are 13, 16, 20 now but they have always liked even when younger. There were a few tunnels today that were in the dark because of the power outage so that added to the atmosphere!
