ellbon Posted September 22, 2009 #27 Share Posted September 22, 2009 Age wasn't old in Alaska either, but I do think there are younger people on now. What is here now that wasn't on Alaska cruise are kids. I've seen little ones; twos/threes/fours. Just a few, but definitely pre school. Well, little children mean younger adults. I did Alaska in July so had a good amount of young people. more than i expected-shows parents are educating their children by taking them to new places. Glad you are better and the weather is warm. quincytoo Posted September 22, 2009 #28 Share Posted September 22, 2009 We left the ship early this morning and made good use of the HOHO trolleys. There are 2 routes and we did both. We went to Stanley Park to see the totems, then to Prospect Pt. to take fantastic photos. On to Granville Island and the market and some cute shops and proceeded to Chinatown where we had a wonderful lunch. We ended at Gastown for more meandering and shopping. A great day. Nice day but did you get Tim-Tams??? :)
Pia1913 Posted September 22, 2009 Author #29 Share Posted September 22, 2009 Hey guys.....the internet is driving me crazy. This is the 3rd time today that I've written stuff and have been thrown off. Maybe third time is lucky. Will post this first and then perhaps be able to continue. Pia1913 Posted September 22, 2009 Author #30 Share Posted September 22, 2009 OK...it worked. Marilyn: I like this ship but still prefer the Grand Class. Queen: Can't tell about how full the ship is. I know there will be 169 Elite aboard effective Los Angeles. Quincy: No time to hunt for TimTams, though I did think about them. :) Nothing exciting or new happening here, so ask questions if you want. Will try posting again; don't trust this signal. BayCalif-Ariz R Us Posted September 22, 2009 #31 Share Posted September 22, 2009 Pia Are you using the ships internet cafe or a laptop and if laptop where are you using it from..... Just curious as I have found using the lap top it was best to sit under a hot spot in a public area or just open the door on my cabin to get a better wi fi signal. But it could be they are not getting a good satellite signal which would cause others problems on the ship. Alan
Pia1913 Posted September 22, 2009 Author #32 Share Posted September 22, 2009 Just wanted to say that gym was full at 7:30 and empty by 8:00. Horizon Ct. empty at 8:15; full at 9:00. We didn't do lunch. We are saving ourselves for Sabatini's tonight. The CD Donna is totally ineffective. On the Morning Show she said tonight is formal. It isn't. Tonight is also Motor City; we're not going. Just came from movie The Proposal. Cute. That's it for now. TTYL

All was perfect from the cabin on the Alaska run, so something is amiss now.
Maryandi Posted September 22, 2009 #34 Share Posted September 22, 2009 Hi Pia & Donna, Thanks - Enjoying your travels. Sorry about the internet problems. Hope they clear up. judynorth Posted September 22, 2009 #35 Share Posted September 22, 2009 If you are using your own laptop have you considered composing offline and then going online to send the message? You can compose in any word processor and then copy and paste into the message box on CC. It could save you many, many minutes. And you wouldn't lose all that typing if you lose the connection. Less frustration.

Pia1913 Posted September 23, 2009 Author #38 Share Posted September 23, 2009 Pia,Thanks for the thread, if you hear anything on the drydock changes please share. Drydock will install Sanctuary, MUTS and International Cafe. They will also upgrade fitness center equipment and add TV's in front of each treadmill. Ah, computers - the ultimate love/hate relationship. BTW, I am really enjoying your Live From posts. We were on the Coral in February for a partial transit of the Canal and in 2005 for Alaska. southpawsdakota Posted September 23, 2009 #40 Share Posted September 23, 2009 Is Allan still the "wine guy" selling boxed wines? He is great, we were fortunate to get to know him on our April Panama Canal cruise on the Coral as well as Alaska in June where he was also our waiter. So much fun. And Christopher from Argentina was in the casino bar and the one by the anytime resturant and was wonderful. Enjoy your trip!

BayCalif-Ariz R Us Posted September 23, 2009 #47 Share Posted September 23, 2009 Hi Pia - Only a trivia "insider" would understand the previous two posts lol. You mention that they are putting in the International Cafe. Even though you're not a wine drinker, can you ask around to find out if they'll be adding Vines. I would really REALLY like to know as the one and only time I was on a ship with Vines I tended to use it as my library - in additional to wine and sushi sampling of course. Hope you can find out definitively. Many thanks and hope you and Donna continue to have a terrific time. Denise

Pia1913 Posted September 23, 2009 Author #49 Share Posted September 23, 2009 It's Wednesday, it's clear and it's getting warmer. People are actually wearing shorts. Still too soon for our bodies. Maybe post California. Did I mention that they did the Pub lunch yesterday? Well, they are doing another one today. The Bayou is their venue. Had dinner at Sabatini's last night; first time for us. OK. Something I wanted to try, but not something I will probably do again. Signal is stronger today but I don't trust it. Will post now. OK. It worked. Time soon for another 75% off sale. Hahaha. Yes, we will check it out. TTYL
DonahCBrown Posted September 23, 2009 #50 Share Posted September 23, 2009 Connection has been a little on and off and I keep getting kicked off as well, so haven't been updating, plus not much to tell on these sea days that Pia hasn't already told you. We did Sabatini's last night - not nearly as good as I remember from the Sapphire - I honestly think that the dining room food has been better. Don't know about Alan the box wine guy - sorry.
