Thank you for starting this thread. As one who has not yet cruised on Celebrity, one thing I'd like to see in the FAC is a run down of the features and differences of the diffferent ships and classes of ships.

Waffles are usually found in the aft area of the buffet on Millenium Class ships. They were by the rear inside pool on the Mercury. Someone else will have to give info for Solstice class ships.

They were next to the fruit selection on our Equinox sailing last year, and absolutly heavenly. :D:D

For a tour of the bridge politely ask at the customer relations desk. It's not advertised, so you have to ask. On our March 2009 South American/Panama cruise on the Infinity I recieved an invitation by doing just that.

If you are a Captains Club member I would check with the Captains Club person on board first before going to guest relations.

For you non-waffle freaks the "Celebrity Minute Steak" is very good. Its a petite sirloin served with herbed butter. Its not what most of us would think of a pulverized minute steak, its the real deal and cooked to order with fries on the side.

Great alternative to the buffet/burger/pizza stuff.

The pizza station does serve up Calzones but you have to be there since they are served intermittantly and are snapped up fast. Ask the chef behind the counter when the next batch will be coming off (and what the stuffings will be). These are light and delicate calzones, not just a pizza with crust on both sides.

In the past you could go to the Casino and withdraw money to be charged to your ship account. Now there is a 3% fee. Lots of folks figured out that the money withdrawl previously didn't hit their credit cards until after the cruise and were earning credit card points for travel or whatever. =X= imposed the fee given they were getting hit for transaction fees for money that was not being gambled in the casino.

There is an ATM on board (usually near the casino) that charges a fee (plus whatever your bank might charge).

One untried option. You can purchase casino money in advance as a "gift" in $25 increments. I would think you would get a voucher for the money that you go to the casino cashier (cage) and they simply hand over the money. But again, untried and if tried too much the option might disappear.

Other options are travelers checks, ... Not an expert on that so hopefully others willl chime in.

More FAQ entires later. Keep them going.

Does anyone know the current fee charged for each ATM withdrawl? Is the exchange the same as at a bank?--IOW, is there a high fee and a lousy exchange rate?

If one is travelling on a Baltic cruise, for example, can you withdraw currencies for each port from the ATM? (Euro/ SEK/ Rubles/Danish Krona?)

On our recent Solstice cruise the ATM fee was $6. The machines only dispense US dollars. In order to get Euros on board, we would have had to convert Canadian dollars to US and then US into Euros. We decided our debit card on shore was a better way to go and when we got the bank statement it proved we were correct.

Hancock,

I have a celebrity question that has nothing to do with waffles.....

does celebrity offer a program where you pay something like $20pp and your luggage is taken directly to the airport and you do not see it until you arrive home??

Do the hottubs on the Solstice really close at 10:00PM? and the pool closing time?

When is the second formal night, I was told that is up to the captain?

What time are you allowed to board the ship on sunday?

Also,

Do you know anything about excursions??

Thanks, Mary:cool:

I'm not Hancock, but maybe can answer a few of your questions and others can fill in the rest:

Yes, Celebrity does have the luggage program. We received information about this a few days before the end of the cruise. We did not use it but others said it works well.

I don't know about the Soltice hot tubs, but on the Connie, they closed at 10 pm.

If you are on a 7 - 10 night cruise, the second formal night is usually on the second to last day of the trip. Although on our recent trip, it was moved back one more day since we were in port that day and it was moved to a sea day. If you are on a 14 day cruise and have 3 formal nights, the second one is usually somewhere around the middle of the cruise on a sea day.

Boarding the ship usually can begin around 11:30 am. I say "usually" since we were delayed for a couple of hours in Miami due to the passengers from the last cruise had not yet departed. Some glitch with immigration. Once they finally cleared, it was quite a mob trying to board all at once. We just couldn't wait for that first meal. :)

Not sure what you want to know about excursions so will let that to someone else.

Have a great trip!

Thank you Fishhook for your reply.

I do appreciate it.

Do you not take excursions??

Mary:cool:

Excursions are better covered in the Ports of Call forum. It's quite informative. Plus you learn lots about excursions on the roll call for your particular cruise.

Sometimes they will try to give you pre-cooked waffles that are sitting in the warming pan getting soggy. Don't accept them. Just ask them to cook fresh ones for you. The fresh waffles right off the griddle are worth the short wait because they taste so much better.

I don't usually put butter on waffles (to save the calories) but someone on this board recommended the orange butter, and once I tried it I was hooked. Then the berries and whipped cream go on top. I am starting to salivate just thinking about them.

Oh please, please stop... I'm going on the Equinox in 8 weeks and am VERY partial to a freshly cooked waffle with fixings....

You're not helping me right now... I can't think about anything else....
