Infi Posted April 20, 2010 #33 Share Posted April 20, 2010 Have a great cruise. If you don't mind, could you find out who will be the captain and CD in July? Thanks in advance.
Pia1913 Posted April 20, 2010 Author #34 Share Posted April 20, 2010 First day at sea; breezy and sunny. We moved our clocks forward last night and the hour's loss of sleep gave us a pretty empty gym at 7:15 AM. My pleasure. Hope it stays that way. Just a quick synopsis of last night. We skipped the diningroom (surprise! surprise!) and feasted on seafood night up in the Horizon Ct. Cafe Caribe area closed. Not too many people up in Horizon either. We then checked out the stores, gave a small donation to the casino and attended the welcome aboard show. Quite pleased. Very different than usual. Our CD James Ibrahim seems like an amiable guy; have never had him as CD prior to this cruise. Comic/impersonator Jason Neistadt we've seen previously and we like him. I know there was stuff going on throughout the ship, but we elected to call it a night right after the show. Today's Patter seems to have 4 different things every 15 minutes. Definitely must pick and choose. Not hard for us because 10:00 AM is trivia followed by our M and G at 11:00. First Pub lunch today; not for us. Tonight is formal night; no decision yet as to whether or not we will dress. Majority will rule. You all know how I vote. :D Entertainment tonight is a comic, Cary Long, and a production show Stardust. MUTS has Did you hear about the Morgan's. I haven't heard about them, but maybe someone will tell me. Answering previous questions; yes, Generoso is here as is Godwin in DaVinci. And yes, Roger is back in the Michelangelo. No, Donna is not on this cruise with us and as for the Capt. in July, will try to find out So many familiar faces for us which always makes it just a bit nicer. Time to go grab a trivia table in Explorer's.
TorontoTL Posted April 20, 2010 #35 Share Posted April 20, 2010 Thanks for your Live from thread Pia. It's great to hear that they are dropping the price of the drink of the day at the Elite/Platinum Lounge to $2.99, that should help make that Lounge better utilized. Have a great smooth sailing. Sunviking Posted April 20, 2010 #36 Share Posted April 20, 2010 Good morning! We're also on board and enjoying these calm seas. We're all the way aft and last night we were able to enjoy a beautiful sunset. When we boarded we had a very nice lunch ing the dining room. It would appear that more people are learning about this because there were quite a few people there. Last night we ate at the Crown Grill. Dinner was excellent and the service great. There was only one other table occupied so we had the place to ourselves. I did go up to Skywalkers for the elite, suite cocktail hour and it was very nice getting the $2.99 drinks. This morning we had breakfast in Sabatini's. Unlike some people who didn't find the food good there, we love it. The same staff that were there in October when we sailed the transatlantic in the other direction were there . It felt like old home week. I'm not sure how we're going to like these 23 hour days. My daughter is already taking her first nap of the day and it's only 10:30 AM. Oh, well, she works hard and it is her vacation too! Thanks for starting the Live from, Pia

What is the temperature? Thanks! Someone else answered about the internet packages. I 'm assuming there will be some port lecturers onboard. and you can see those on the TV in your cabin as well. The temperature right now is about 74° so it's very pleasant. The seas are moderate and we have just a little movement - anough that you know you're on a ship, not in a hotel :)

Pia1913 Posted April 20, 2010 Author #47 Share Posted April 20, 2010 Just jumping in for a minute while I wait for coffee to brew. Our M and G this morning had a huge attendance. I would venture to guess about 80+ and possibly more. Capt wonderful showed up, as did the chief purser, food and bev manager, CD and MD Generoso. Capt. McCharming (Yeomans) told me he is getting off in Barcelona and Tony Draper will be our new captain. And to the person who asked, yes, Capt. Yeomans will be here in July. Larry, I will see Roger tonight and relay your message. Coffee ready, so goodbye. :D

grandmaa Posted April 20, 2010 #50 Share Posted April 20, 2010 Bon Voyage on the wonderful Ruby Princess. I will be reliving this cruise with you as we did it last year on the April crossing. Glad to hear that Godwin is still on board. His attitude as well as that of the other members of the dining room staff make the Ruby a fabulous ship to cruise on. Have fun at Trivia. Our team won many times last year which helped us to make many new friends. Here is wishing you calm seas and warm blue skies.
