HMSDingy Posted July 12, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2010 The Emerald is due to dock at 7:00 AM. Are we cutting it close for a flight back home to Canada at 1:45?
Rare PatriciaF Posted July 12, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 12, 2010 The airport is less than 15 minutes away from the port. We have an 1105 flight back to LA--so I hope not.

HMSDingy Posted July 12, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted July 12, 2010 But the difference being our flight is International and we're supposed to be at the airport 2 hours before the flight
Princess Cruiser27 Posted July 12, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 12, 2010 You'll be fine with the 1:45pm flight as long that there is no "huc ups" with customs or the ship is not coming in late into port. Cab fare is about $15.
HMSDingy Posted July 12, 2010 Author #6 Share Posted July 12, 2010 Thanks. All our other cruises we took a 4:00 flight and we had to wait for hours. Not that I mind spending a few more hours in the sun :D
paul929207 Posted July 12, 2010 #7 Share Posted July 12, 2010 You will have plenty of time to get bored at the airport.
Benita Posted July 12, 2010 #8 Share Posted July 12, 2010 Don't worry about it - you can almost walk to the airport from the pier.
bhopal21 Posted July 12, 2010 #9 Share Posted July 12, 2010 Thanks. All our other cruises we took a 4:00 flight and we had to wait for hours. Not that I mind spending a few more hours in the sun :D The last two times we have disembarked at FLL we made a 1015 with time to spare by doing self-disembarkation. A taxi is less than $15. Seal Posted July 12, 2010 #10 Share Posted July 12, 2010 You'll make it--envy you--we can't make out of FLL until after 4pm--wish we were you Nancy:D Used EZ check a few months ago and loved it--no luggage to deal with--have done the after cruise excursions and trip to airport--but just no luggage anywhere is great for freedom Nancy:D
cruiserbryce Posted July 12, 2010 #11 Share Posted July 12, 2010 more than enough time. for fll I would say before 11 would be too early
CrusinAgain Posted July 12, 2010 #12 Share Posted July 12, 2010 You should be thru security at the airport and pacing the floors long before your plane leaves. Wished my flight from Lauderdale left that soon but I don't leave until after 3 pm.
kywildcatfanone Posted July 12, 2010 #13 Share Posted July 12, 2010 Do you know what the cab fare is? Any flight after 10am is fine as much as my experience shows. Cab fare from the cruise terminal to the airport (FLL) is around $15. Mike
DiTomCruisers Posted July 12, 2010 #14 Share Posted July 12, 2010 we've had 1100 flights and did fine... We did self-disembark, so we saved some time there
Tweedy Posted July 12, 2010 #15 Share Posted July 12, 2010 Our flight to Toronto leaves FLL at 11:20am the day we disembark. We'll likely do self checkout just to be on the safe side.
1stCruiser Posted July 12, 2010 #16 Share Posted July 12, 2010 The Emerald is due to dock at 7:00 AM. Are we cutting it close for a flight back home to Canada at 1:45? No - If you book through Princess, a direct flight to Montreal is at 12:15. So you will have no problem with an even later flight.
Colo Cruiser Posted July 12, 2010 #17 Share Posted July 12, 2010 You will be fine. :)
funeralbabe Posted July 12, 2010 #18 Share Posted July 12, 2010 Plenty of time fellow Montrealer, I usually book the 12 p.m. flight back home.
TexasFireMedic Posted July 12, 2010 #19 Share Posted July 12, 2010 I booked us on a 3:30 pm flight out of FLL, but after we found ourselves at the airport by 9 am (and we took our time since we were scheduled for such a late flight), we managed to squeeze into the 10:30 am flight. Our original flight was delayed by weather and left almost two hours late so we dodged a bullet there. You should have no problems making your flight, as long as you avoid any customs issues.
