New VIP program???

Couple of YEARS? Glad he and many other CCL beancounters don't work for me.

:D

That's not exactly Jim's only job. He's Senior VP and Chief Marketing Officer...

The past guest thing is a fairly small piece of his pie...

And that slice of pie has zero calories.

That would be nice...but I will believe it when I see it.

Not holding my breath either, Linda. I'd end up looking like a Smurf. :)

I saw a reference to it here and in the Carnival.com forum. I emailed my PVP and was told it may roll out at year end. That it will possibly be a tiered program and based on days sailed not number of cruises. All Rumor at this point I say. Just wondered if anyone else had any other news.

Thanks Mach for any info you can come up with!!;)

Yikes - as long as I have enough days in - my platinum cruise is scheduled for Jan. 9th! Would hate to be that close and then find out they changed the rules a week before I sailed I was short days or something like that!

Be careful what you all wish for. It might not be as good as you think it will be. They may do a rolling program where you have to cruise so many days in a certain timeframe.

I guess we will all find out later than sooner :D

I just wish they could get platinum perks standardized across the board from ship to ship! Sometimes VIP boarding is great, sometimes not so great, depending on the port. Sometimes they do a great job with priority tendering, othertimes they look at you like your an alien when you ask for priority tendering. Always enjoy our cruises but find the perks can be hit or miss.

I have voiced my concern to them regarding the periodic lapse in delivery of perks, and that they should get those down pat prior to implementing more.

YIKES.. perhaps that's why we haven't seen anything of late -- as that may never happen!

You would think past guests would be a BIG piece of pie.

Next week will mark the 2-yr anniversary of Jim's arrival on the Carnival 'scene'.

.

This quote from that article might help us understand the delays:

** In this newly created position, Berra will oversee all of the company’s advertising programs, marketing communications and public relations He will also oversee all digital efforts, including the audience and site development for Carnival.com. **

.

The dude's probaby been way too busy overseeing all those highly successful recent changes to the Carnival web site.

The small stuff will come later. :)

Hey Linny,

I just glanced over his Blog and did not find anything. Time will tell.

We just dont want to get this close (next is Platinum for us) and then all of a sudden be further out due to a rule change....

We could be in the same "boat" - so to speak . Our 10th is booked - but will not take place until December 2011.

My hope is that whatever they choose - we will still "qualify" for the Platinium level of perks. Our cruises have all been 7 or 8 dayers - so hopefully if they change it to days at sea versus cruises booked, we will still be ok ;). It would be very disappointing to get this close

I will DEFINATLEY be watching for any information on the new plan - as is becomes available.

I'd love to see number of days being used. Though DW will be Platinum on the 2nd leg of our B2B on the Splendor later this winter. So I'll just stand next to her when we are in the Platinum guest service line asking for our priority tender in Cabo! :D

No need to stand next to her.......as long as one person is platinum they will escort your whole group.

CCL could leverage off some of the Platinum/VIP perks would be GREAT.

FOR EXAMPLE: VIP lounge - nightly special area (Explorer's Lounge on Princess) with reduced drinks, YUM-O appetizers not found anywhere else on the ship. Nice chilling before the real evening starts. DH and I love it.

Sort of like Celebrity's lounge for Elite Captain's Club Members.

Jim has told me that it's a work in progress. I have stopped asking "when", as I am sure we'll all find out about the same time!

It really is the Milestone perks which they need to look at, as they have a fair # of base perks for the Platinum guests, and little more for those with 25+ sailings.

Tom

I agree Tom ! We have 35 with one coming up Dec 19 and another in Feb. Maybe Feb, we will see some better perks for milestone.
