The Chef's Table

I just saw a blurb about this from facebook. Is this replacing the Supper Club, or is it in addition to it? Will be sailing on the Destiny in a couple weeks, so while they don't have the SC, I assume they will have the CT. I'm also a little leery of the $75 price tag that comes with it. For those who have tried it, what were your impressions?

The Chef's Table isn't replacing the steakhouses, it's in addition to the steakhouses and, even better, is available on every ship in the fleet.

The $75 dollar cost is well worth it. You can do a search on 'chef's table' and find at least two dozen threads about it...

The Chef's Table is an experience you will talk about for a long time. We did this on the Dream in October and it was incredible. We started with h'ordeuvres and champagne in The Song Jazz Lounge and then moved to the galley for our dinner (which was 6 or 7 courses). The Chef will explain the story behind the creation of each dish he is presenting to you, the wine is never ending and he gives you a small tour of the galley and different prep areas. You get a group picture and a cook book and then you get individual pictures taken (which are then available for purchase).

It is an amazing experience and one I think any foodie should experience.

it was the best meal i had. If you had this meal at home you would pay well over 150 each. You can't go wrong.... but book it early as usually sit only 12 people. I had it on the Liberty and will do it every ship that we sail. In fact i will not book the ship unless it has the Chef dinner. If this can not convience you to try it nothing will.. It was unforgetable and I dream to be able to cook such a meal at home ....lol....

it was just announced today that Chef's table is now fleet wide. We plan to do this on every cruise we take as well.

As others have said, it is a wonderful experience and well worth the $75...I would like to do this again on another ship; however, our chef told us that the menu is the same fleetwide...he thinks they may change the menu in about 5 or 6 months...if there were a different menu on another ship, I would definitely do this again...it truly is an experience and not just a gourmet meal...but even if it were just the food alone, it would be worth the $75

I am so jealous that you have pictures. I so wanted to take pictures but was told by Chef that we could not take pictures.

I wanted to drool over them as I reminisced. lol

There are not my pictures - they were posted by someone else - but when were you told you could not take pics at Chef's Table? I have seen many threads with many pics of the AMAZING food? Hope I can take pics!

IMO the Chef's Table is worth the price tag. It was an amazing experince. The food was great. If you do choose this option I would suggest eating light the morning and lunch before. Also, the Chef was personable and explained each dish.

This is exactly how we felt as well. When we did it in November, it was a fantastic experience. We also had the Chef's Table booked for the Glory in February, which we've canceled because the menu is the same and we don't need another Carnival cookbook.

We were told not to take pictures in the kitchen but we could take pictures once we sat down at the table.

I think the Dream is unique in that you actually eat in the galley, thus the reason no pictures of the food since no pictures in the galley.

We ate in Medusa's Lair dance club on the Legend and there were plenty of people taking food porn photos. :D

The menu was the same for both of our sailings last year, and will be again (from what I am being told) on the Miracle.

I have no idea how often they will be changing it. From what I have seen, most of the people giving it a try are frequent cruisers, so it might behoove them to change it at least once a year.

I called Carnival to check on the Chef's Table for my Jan 24 cruise on the Destiny due to the web site not showing this dinning option. The rep had to go check but it is available but he said I had to go make the reservation on board. I'm hoping to be able to do this before it gets booked up.

Hi Froufie!

We were on the Dream which as others mentioned is why we couldn't take pictures (being in the galley). :D

Just off the Destiny (b2b) and to be quite honest was not that impressed with the Chef's Table!!! And I was cruising with a friend who had done 2 other chef's tables (I think on the Paradise and Imagination) and said this one did not at all compare with the other two which were excellent!

He did speak with the assistant maitre d' the next evening to give them some feedback, mentioning that obviously the menu was similar but presentation was not quite standardized and maybe some of the chefs need to visit other ships to see how it's done?

oh :( I was going to do my very first Chefs Table on the Destiny in Sept. Did your friend mention more or less the differences between the Destiny and Paradise Chefs Table? What about the presentation was different? thank you! :)

My impression: BEST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER!

Impression from fellow cruiser: IT WAS LIKE A RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCE

We just came off the Pride today and the Chef's table was incredible!!! We also did David's courtesy of Kirk the Cruise Directory and IMHO, the steakhouse is not $30 pp better than the MDR but the $75 pp for the Chef's Table is well worth it and more. If you can get a spot at the chef's table then Take it.

As far as pictures go, before we started the experience, it is explained that pictures of the galley tour were NOT allowed and I kept my camera in my pocket. BUT, there was someone in our group who asked to take a picture of the line of waitstaff retrieving meals. The Chef de Cuisine Jerry said this is typically not allowed but said OK. Then someone else whipped out their camera. I kept mine in my pocket as I just didn't feel right taking pictures, the vibe I got from the chef was that he really couldn't tell them no.

Then, my wife was the only taker when Jerry asked if anyone wanted to help make the Chocolate melting cake. Jerry told me to get my camera out and get pictures of her.

So, I did!! :-D

The hand picked staff of chefs and our server.

The Chef's Table and the Dolphin Swim in Freeport were the highlights of the cruise.
