Oh, don't get me wrong; the Epic is definitely worth a cruise. You'll either love it or hate it when you're done, but it's an interesting ship with many good points.

Count me as a BIG FAN. We sailed on 2/26/11, and have our return booked for 11/26/11.

Never say never. My upcoming suite on EPIC is comped, on our EPIC cruise we both enjoyed 1.5 hours spa services (priced at $580 for the 2), 2 free dinners with wine, and $1500 off our bill.

Granted I lost a lot, those last two cruises, but still....the comps / cashback were just as respectible (if not moreso) on EPIC as on the Spirt.

.

 Fantastic!

How low is low? Did you get a quote for a future sailing from CAS? Part of the problem is table ratings - never as good as slot ratings because your odd are better (even on a carnival game like LIR). FWIW, I lose generally 7 times that amount on an average 7 day cruise, and get comped mini suite or balcony on less popular sailings, and I average about 1000 points for every $1000 lost.

I'll contact the CAS to get a conformation but I think it was really low. I'll post back when I contact them next week.

Remember that the amount of credit on your bill is decided by the casino manager. I suppose they have a formula they use, but I believe that they have a lot of flexibility in what they decide to do.

I think I got ripped on my last CAS visit. I lost in excess of $1,000 of my own money (Not including a few up/down swings in that. It was probably more) in about 4-5 days on my last cruise but it was @ the tables (Let it ride). I went to check my points at the end and it was extremely low. I'm not sure exactly what the total was.

I lost about 3 times that and at the end of the cruise I had accumulated minimal points. Then last week CAS offered me a complimentary balcony stateroom on a number of cruise options. Go figure.

We have taken four of them and just got another certificate from Harrahs Cherokee yesterday for another one. You basically have to pay the taxes and port fees. If the cruise cost normally 1000 without taxes fees and all it costs you about $500. The only problem with it is you may only take certain cruises. Since we own a travel business that specializes in group cruises, we take a lot of cruises and half of them on the FREE cruise list we do not like the ports. If you have every been to Roaton you understand.

On Friday I received an email from Casinos at Sea offering a complimentary Stateroom for any of 5 cruises that NCL has over the next 4 months. Has anyone else received this and is it legit? Are there any conditions or anything that they don't make you aware of until you're on the ship? What do I pay for and is there an extra charge for bringing a companion?

Thanks for your help in advance.

I am so jealous of all these comp'd offers! The most I can get from CAS is 20%, guess 1K-1500 donation isn't enough. But I'll take that other 3K it would take to get a comp'd room and use it to pay for a cruise.

Those of you considering the Jade out of Venice: DO IT. You will not regret it. It was my first cruise and I would love to go back. The islands are beautiful and the Jade is a wonderful ship with an amazing staff.h

Though, after visiting, you will never want to cruise the Carribbean again!

Also, if you go, go early to Venice. You won't regret a couple of days in this beautiful city and you will need it to adjust to the time change so 1/2 of your cruise isn't wasted sleeping!

I am sailing on the Jade out of Venice in August. I was comped an ocean view by CAS and upgraded to a balcony, about 80% off. I love CAS, but since the new system started last year I have received no offers. But my play from my previous cruise was enough for a comped oc for a 14 day cruise. Is anyone receiving offers, or do you have to call and ask what you are eligible for based on the ship and length of cruise?

Now that you mention it, I haven't gotten an email or postcard from CAS in a few months. I did get I think two different tournament offers a few months ago, maybe January, but nothing since then. Although, I'm not sure if there is a "season" where more of the offers come in - like maybe early summer, the postcards come infor the last summer and fall tournament sailings? No matter, I've never used the postcard offers. I just pick whatever sailing I want to go on and then call CAS for my comp.

So what I am understanding from reading on CC is that comps can come directly from CAS or from a land based casino, is that correct? I have never received offers directly from CAS, but have received 2 comped cruises through my land based casino. If I no longer frequent my land based casino will I be able to call up CAS at a future date and get a 20% discount on a booking based on my prior play onboard?

About 6 weeks ago I got a mailer for a Getaway freebie (no tournament) that was good until the end of the year but I passed on it since I am in NYC.

Just call CAS and see what they will offer. If you gave enough play they will give you freebie or at the very least the 20% off. Please note that part of CAS is only open Mon-Fri (they list 2 #'s on the website but 1 is for land based offers and they are also open on Saturday but they cannot help you on previous CAS play booking.

I have gone on 2 recent cruises and have another one booked, compliments of my local casino. I'm picking up another certificate in 2 weeks. I'm only given an inside room, mid ship. Since I have been sailing with them twice now and have lost on both cruises, I'm wondering if the cas offer would be better than what I have been booking. Will they tell me this automatically when I call to book, or do I need to ask them? I also have my next one booked for September, inside also, and wondering if I should ask about that. The upgrade for my Sept. cruise is about $600 right now, according to the fares. I would rather save that to spend in the casino. I would love a balcony though!

1smudslide - You should call CAS and see if you can get a better upgrade rate. When you say $600 for an upgrade now are you talking about the fare posted on the website or is that the CAS rate? I received a comped inside room for my Alaska cruise but paid $500 per person to upgrade to a balcony room. And that $500 was the CAS rate to upgrade (the website rate at the time of booking was $800 difference between inside room and balcony).

It's also interesting to me that some people only receive inside room offers regardless of destination. My 2 cruise certificates from my land based casino both gave me choices of type of stateroom depending on destination. My Caribbean cruise last year was a comped balcony stateroom. If I would have chosen a European cruise that also would have been a comped balcony. But Alaska cruises they only offered a comped inside.

The $600 was the difference between the price of the inside room when I booked and the balcony room. I was wondering if they would automatically see my offers when I gave them my name and if there is a better cas offer from my cruise play, if they would offer that instead.

Foxwoods has only comped me free insides, but the last time, there were a few balcony offers if I sailed within a month. Unfortunately, I couldn't take advantage of those.

Question for first time comped cruisers - how did you get them interested in you?

For the heck of it, I e-mailed CAS a year ago to see what they might offer me, as I was a rated player in AC. I had also visited Foxwoods once or twice. A CAS rep called me, and told me I was eligible for a free inside cabin. We booked the Breakaway, and sailed last August. Upgraded to a balcony, and paid around $2200 for 3 of us, which I thought was a steal on a brand-new ship. I didn't even know I had an offer, but the agent was able to pull it up somehow from her computer! We enjoyed NCL, and I called them again to see if they would do anything for me, and was offered another free inside cabin. Booked Gem for this August, for around $1800 for 3 for a balcony. (upgraded again). For the heck of it, I decided to see if I could get anything for this Christmas, as we pretty much always cruise then. They gave me a balcony (upgraded from inside again) for $1,000 for a holiday sailing on Epic!! I booked an adjoining balcony for my kids, at a nice discounted rate!! Just couldn't pass it up. Got 2 balconies for less than one balcony on CCL would have cost - at Christmas, no less. I am very impressed with the way NCL seems to handle their casino guests. I am not a "heavy" slot gambler, but they seem to comp better than CCL.

To throw in my 2 cents, I also suspect that your Latitudes level may also play a small factor into what type of stateroom you'll be comped. All of my NCL cruises have been comped (2 from Caesars, 2 from CAS) and when I booked my first CAS cruise, I was comped an Inside cabin for the Star (Latitudes Bronze), but my second was comped a Mini for the Getaway (Latitudes Silver). My level of play was consistent on both qualifying cruises (table games only), which were both aboard the Star, and another player in our travel party who plays at a higher level, but is only a Bronze, was offered a Balcony for the Getaway.

In other news, I was also told by the Casino Host that I didn't qualify for any dinners or spa treatments while onboard so just because you don't get anything while onboard, doesn't mean you won't get a comped cruise when you call CAS directly!

Like land casinos, the comp is mostly tied to what they think they are going to get from you in the form of donations in the casino. They are betting they weill get more money from you than they spend to get you there.

The very best way for them to "guess" at that number is to look at past play. Somebody that gets to a certain level on one cruise is going to get a better offer than someone that gets to the very same level, but over 5 cruises. Simple math.

I have cruised twice with NCL, both with offers from Foxwoods. The first was in December on the Epic and the second was on the Breakaway in March, both inside cabins. I called CAS about a week after our trip in March to ask about the rate for the Breakaway in October and they offered me a comped Oceanview cabin. I waited a few days and called back and they offered me a comped balcony cabin, so I booked it. I'm not sure if the different offers were because it took a little longer for my play to be loaded into their system or if it's because I spoke to a different agent. I booked the balcony on the spot because I didn't know if it would go back to an Oceanview if I called back a third time. I'll be picking up another offer from Foxwoods on 5/24 for an inside cabin that I'll probably book for next March and I'm curious to see if they'll give me an upgrade. Either way, I'm happy with the offers I've been receiving, both from Foxwoods and CAS.

Point of interest: as I stated above, I didn't even know I had an offer of a free cabin from Foxwoods on NCL until I called CAS. For my upcoming Gem cruise, I knew I had an offer from Resorts AC, but couldn't get down there to get the certificate. CAS honored the free cabin, anyway! So it is always worth a call to see what they might have attached to your name.:)

Hi, we received a free balcony room cruise with NCL through Sugarhouse Casino in Philadelphia. It listed free drinks while in the casino. Do you get these cards by seeing a host in the casino? Does anyone know if the free cruise is part of Casinos at Sea, and if so, are we automatically considered VIP for concierge check in? Leaving on the Getaway on 5/31/14. Thanks!

So many on here have said they received comps onboard (spa, wine, dinner) or dollars off their final bill after losing a lot of money. Has anyone gotten these after winning??

Your drink cards will be waiting for you in your cabin and there is a special check in for CAS.

Our drink cards were in our cabin when we arrived. On the Breakway, there was a separate line for CAS VIP and we got in that line. Very quick check in - only a couple of people ahead of us.

It doesn't matter if you win or lose, it's your rate of play that gets you comps. I have been comped cabins every sailing plus spa, wine, dinner for maintaining my CAS Golden status, and dollars off my final bill (good dollars too) off every cruise. The amount of $$$ run through is mostly what counts, win or lose. Big losses will sometimes get a bit more in little extras, but more importantly is how you rank among the players on board that particular sailing..

I called CAS last week to book a cruise for next march they advised me based on my last trip on BA I would get a 20% discount. Well I decided to call back again since reading these boards and my points were over 2000. Seemed to remember reading some got comps for inside rooms based on that tier. I was indeed comped an inside room! Very excited about this offer. Now I don't have to wait and see if I get an offer from AC. Was told have 18 months to use. I wonder if I had not called would they have called me?
