Kids in CL?

got my phone call from RCL....

 

Said AG posted on the blog again, read it and it basically says the same thing.

 

Suites affected on the average have 5 kids....and most will not take the kids in CL....Guess they haven't counted how many D+ have kids that are now able to come in too....

 

She did say they are bombarded with letters and phone calls...REALLY???? Then as she said the majority don't want the kids in there....REALLY???? Then why wouldn't you change it?????? Doesn't majority rule in most things????

 

She said she hopes we have a gr8 time on our b2b in Jan...I did tell her that we may be changing our Allure in June tho since that will be bigtime kids and we won't have a couple hours in a place with no kids.....

 

Guess we'll find out in Jan how it is! Hopefully it's not as bad as I'm picturing!!

It is wonderfull that the cruise line appeals to families, however, I think that that should also cater to people cruising without them.

 

I do not think that it is too much to ask for a adult only MDR and at least one lounge that can be free from children.

You're not going to get an adult only MDR, not on a line like RCCL. That would be a logistical headache, and on most ships there is not the room for it. I know you would like an adult-only specialty restaurant, where if there ear two of them I could see that. But MDR? Not going to happen. An adult only lounge would be a good thing, even if in the evenings like disney (and I am sure other lines) do it. Viking Crown, or another one that is not right in the middle of things, would work.

I posted this on another thread but this person from Adam's blog hit the nail on the head. Don't hold your breathe waiting for this to change.

22 ships X 3000 pax X 52 weeks = roughly 3.5 million pax a year is probably a low estimate. Where do think we fit in statistically? We have loved RCI for 5 years and 50 actual cruises (not cruise credits)exclusively with RCI. We love their ships and crews and the ocean and so many other things. We have never sailed with another line, however, for the first time ever, 4 of our 8 future bookings are with two other lines. Even with the cost of gas, trips to the mountains are looking pretty good again.

I don’t like the changes but realize we actually have little choice in any of this. I still hope they hear us.

I was at lunch today where some young children were running and screaming in the restaurant while the moms ignored them. I was just thinking it would be a good idea. It makes you appreciate the good parents.

I really wish people would quit referring to "free" drinks. They aren't free for suite guests, as we have more than paid for them in our fares. But, all the perks are paid for by the fare for suites.

Children of suite guests will be allowed in the CL during happy hour. Period. You don't agree, you have made that clear- ad naseum. There are literally thousands of adults on each sailing that are not suite guests or D+ that have only the solarium and the casino as adults only venues, period. You have other options other than the CL- just like the rest of us...and please stop hiding behind the safety issue and the poor concierge being overworked and underpaid- we all know this is about free drinks. And the tone of entitlement from some of of the posts is becoming downright disturbing.

 

I don't disagree with you; I think that RCI needs to designate separate spaces for adults to relax and unwind. I agree that an adults only lounge should be included on all ships....for all passengers. For goodness sake-the majority of you are bellyaching about something that you haven't even experienced:eek: For the CC community, please move on and resume sharing the wonderful cumulative knowledge that you all have about what we all love.

Does RCL management just sit around and look for things to cause friction and anger among guests? I can't imagine a couple that pays for a GS wanting to share it with

children running wild. Now don't tell me they don't. It's allowed all over the ship and

the CL would be no different. And, who would want to take children into a bar as such?

You have your opinion and I have mine. I could really care less. I don't agree with everything that Royal does but I also don't feel the need to defend them like you do Carnival but in the end, yes I believe that Carnival is the Wal Mart of cruise lines. You see more people like this on Carnival than any of line.;)

I was not defending Carnival, I was defending people who cruise Carnival.

 

As far as the peopleofwalmart pictures - you either have never sailed Carnival (because people who cruise Carnival do not look like that) or for one reason or another you enjoy making fun of people you perceive to be below you. Quite frankly that was very offensive.

They make more money appealing to families during the summer and holidays when prices are high. During the off season, when cruises are cheap is when the older crowd and just couples cruise. If you cruise in the off season the kids in the CL will be few and far between. If you cruise in the summer and during holidays on RCL expect to see kids of all ages all over the ship. If you prefer to cruise in the summer and holidays and don't want kids around, I would suggest you check out lines catering to your demographic.

So what are you? A good non-parent? If you are not a parent what do you know about parenting? Please......if you don't like children fine. You have made that apparent. But why continue to sail a Family Cruise line? If you want to sail RCl then sail in the off season when school is in session. Your problem should be solved.

 

My children are now all adults. I have always been a little amused by non-parents who expect children to be perfect and if they are not it must be the parents fault. Are we to judge YOUR parents based on your attitude toward children? I mean they must have done something wrong for you to be so critical of children, right? (Obviously I am being facetious, as I would NEVER blame your parents for your attitude toward other peoples children.)

 

My comment makes about as much sense as your judgement or should I say PRE-judgement of any of the young people you may encounter in the CL.

We are happy with the new rule. Our son (5) doesn't speak any English so he's not very happy at the Kid's Club. Now we can take him along to the CL in the evening. Perfect, because otherwise my husband and I would have to take turns to enjoy the CL.

 

BTW: On our last European cruise there were quite a lot of kids in the CL in the evening. One Austrian couple took their 5 year old daughter every night to the CL. The concierge hardly ever said something...

No, she is a GREAT parent with a child that I would happily sail with any day because I know that she would be a joy. :) BPlazo has always been a conscientious parent.

To me it seems like there are many people in the world, and many like them on cruises, who think any noise a child makes to be a distraction. Even normal talking and laughing brings many evil stares from folks. Have we become so intolerant of children these days that we feel the only "proper" place for them is anywhere away from us? I generally cruise without children, but when we have brought our grandchildren with us on occasion some adults have been so rude to them.

 

I not only don't mind children being around us when we are traveling, I welcome the chances I have to interact with them. I find that the vast majority of children are well behaved and delightful...too bad some people can't get past their bias to realize that.

 

I feel sorry for those people I see on cruises who seem so unhappy with everything...always complaining, finding fault with everyone...waiters, stewards, passengers. They can't be having a very good time if they are constantly looking for things to be angry about.

I got my call from RCCL Wednesday. The conversation went just like the others I have seen posted about. One thing I noticed was that the woman sounded hesitant and nervous and she stuttered a lot. I can only imagine what it must be like to make all those calls to people who are against the policy change!

Thank you, Michele. I am just saying that RCCL can cater to both groups, those that have children and those who travel without them. In all my cruises I really have not seen too many children misbehaving but I still would like a few more adult only areas. When cruising with my daughter I never had a problem obeying the age limit rules, in fact, some area where she was allowed to go she did not because I did not think it was appropriate.

 

Just because I think my daughter is adorable and cute and can do no wrong :) does not mean everyone else does.

 

I also think cruisinmamao6 is a considerate parent :)
