kwahl1 Posted September 2, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2011 Was looking at the Crown Princess Dec 2012 sailing from Venice to Galveston. December isn't exactly the warmest month in either continent. Would I be stuck inside the entire 20 days? I do like to sit outside and read and maybe dip. Whould love to hear some comments on this voyage and whether it would be a good cruise to use a balcony on. Weather experiences and sea conditions too. paul929207 Posted September 2, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2011 We took a Med cruise from Venice to Rome in late November. It wasn't cold and dreary, but there was not a problem with chair hogs at the pool. Afternoon temps were in the 60's most days.

I'm booked on this cruise & based on posts from others who've sailed at this time I don't anticipate there being a big problem with the weather. I'm also doing the 12 day Greek Isles before the TA which can be booked b2b or as a 32 day cruise. There's a roll call if you decide to book the TA: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1434428
BridgeMates Posted September 2, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 2, 2011 Like Astro Flyer we're booked on the 12 day Greek Isles and the 20 day TA to Galveston. Looked up the weather history on most of the ports and frankly I'm looking forward to cooler temperatures than what they have in the summer over there....mainly in the 60's. Oh, that sounds so good right now as I sit here in north Texas. Another day of 100+. Thankfully a cold front is coming down and we'll only be 99 next week! :D
capriccio Posted September 2, 2011 #5 Share Posted September 2, 2011 December can be rainy in Venice (and then you'll get to experience the raised walkways in St. Mark's Square when it floods) but there will be lots fewer tourists than during the summer! moniquet Posted September 2, 2011 #6 Share Posted September 2, 2011 You will be lucky to get more than few days out of the 20. I lived in Spain for 15 years, there are some good days but there are more cold and rainy ones. Take a look at one of the weather sites for stats. Rare Essiesmom Posted September 2, 2011 #8 Share Posted September 2, 2011 Plan on taking your dips in the hot tubs. If you go for a balcony, make sure it is port side, as that is where the sun will be. But you probably won't spend much time on it. EM
Princess Patches Posted September 2, 2011 #9 Share Posted September 2, 2011 I did the Rome to New Orleans transatlantic crossing in 2006 in late November/early December and the weather was in the 70's nearly every day. We used our balcony daily. The crossing was very mild. No choppy seas at all.
