I changed my onboard account credit card to my mastercard and sent in the online form posted on first page of this thread & I received a confirmation page that said Thanks, your request has been received & it told me to go to my cruise manager to make sure I had the mastercard on there for my onboard expenses.

Thanks so much for this thread. I love cruise critic!:) My first DOD will be a toast to OP.

Don't think so- it says $50.

Also found this:

Your onboard credit will show up on your Sail & Sign account the first day of your cruise.

The "fine print" on the Sign-Up page reads (emphasis added):

"*Special Offer Terms & Conditions:

To be eligible to receive the $50 onboard credit, pre-register to participate and use a MasterCard card when setting up the Onboard Expense Account. To pre-register, fill out and submit the MasterCard Onboard Promotion form provided above. Form must be submitted by 11/30/11. To designate MasterCard as the form of payment for onboard expenses, go to carnival.com’s Check-In (FunPass) section in My Cruise Manager and enter the MasterCard credit card information. Offer has no cash value. The onboard credit is provided as a credit for use only on your onboard Sail & Sign account up to a maximum of $50 per stateroom on sailings between 12/15/11 and 3/31/12. Offer is subject to change without prior notice. Ships’ Registry: Panama & The Bahamas.

5waldos - please read the fine print that jljlinda posted above. This is another reason why people should always read the fine print.

What you found - Your onboard credit will show up on your Sail & Sign account the first day of your cruise. - doesn't say $50 will be credited; it just says "YOUR OBC CREDIT". Big difference.

Perhaps I could have clarified it to say that the top of the page I got it from had in large letters the fact that it was $50. I do not see the difference here. The $50 is OBC. Your distinction here is confusing me- I don't know what you are suggesting.

Count me in as another person who booked direct with Carnival and has never gotten any kind of promotion. While I know I am not eligible for the current $50.00 OBC, I would love to get that email promotion that some people have received for a discount off shore excursions. Just sayin' they need to be more consistent with their promotions, for sure.

I am not suggesting anything. I read the fine print at the bottom of the webpage which states: The onboard credit is provided as a credit for use only on your onboard Sail & Sign account up to a maximum of $50 per stateroom on sailings between 12/15/11 and 3/31/12.

If it didn't have the phrase "up to a maximum of" then I would have to agree with you that the OBC is $50. However, with the inclusion of the phrase "up to a maximum of", the OBC can be anywhere from $0 to $50.

It would be interesting to know. I have always booked directly with Carnival, they have my email address and I have checked the send me offers box, AND added my name to the Send Me All the News and Promotions application on the first page of the Carnival Web site. Nothing else I can do but read CC- thank heavens for CC.

But elsewhere they are pretty clear that it is $50. I think the up to is to clue people into the fact that 4 people in a room each signing up will still only get a total of $50 for the cabin. I could be wrong but if I am, Carnival is playing some odd games.

I take it to mean your OBC will be covered up to $50.00. I can't see anyone spending less than that, but I guess it is posable. (not for my wife)

Just to clarify to everyone: I did not receive the info from Carnival. I think they are promoting it when someone books now.

I was already booked and my PVP sent me the email because he knows that I always use my Carnival MC for bookings and S&S to get the miles.

I do not get that many emails from Carnival, and I have NEVER been called from the upgrade fairy. Most of the info I get is from research here on CC. That is why I shared it. :)

Thanks for sharing such a great deal. You have made many people happy.

Thanks also for the one's that posted the links. I am set to go. WOO HOO

John Heald replied to me when I posted on his facebook about not receiving notifications by email and he said he sent my name in to the right people to make sure I am added to their distribution. We'll see.

I hope so. Don't forget to share with me..... :)

You are charmed- wonder why you got a response about having sent in the application? And happy for you that John will get this arranged but it would also be nice if they could get it set up so we all could. Let us know if you actually start getting emails- curious minds want to know.

for those curious, when i was on the phone with CCL, i was told the obc would show up on the first day.

i hope that helps some. i never received a confirmation. CCL told me just to make sure it acknowledged it was sent.

Thank you. That makes some sense. Usually the only onboard expenses I have are the daily tips and the casino.

If you are on a 3 or 4 day cruise then the daily tips are only $30 or $40. If you don't drink, gamble or buy anything onboard, it can be done.

I emailed my PVP lastnight about this... and here is what she told me:

The $50 OBC is on new reservations that you book with the MasterCard. You wouldn’t be able to apply it to this current cruise. Double check with MasterCard because you may be able to redeem points that you have racked up and apply them as onboard credit.

But, who knows... I am going to go ahead and try it anyways... we have 5 cabins for our January cruise... so that could be $250 OBC... so it doesn't hurt to try!!

I'm thinking my PVP didn't know... or maybe I asked her wrong in the email... because everything I've read says it doesn't matter "how" the cruise was booked! I am going to try it!! I'm not out anything by using my mastercard instead of my visa debit (which is what I planned).

I agree - no where on the page does it say "applies to new bookings". Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Here the link again http://ebm.cheetahmail.com/r/regf2?aid=982238741&a=0&n=801

Now you can have even more fun aboard your upcoming Carnival® cruise. Just use your MasterCard® card for your Sail & Sign® card purchases, and we’ll give you an additional $50 in onboard credit* to spend however you want — relax at the spa, celebrate at the bar or add some fun to a shore excursion. It’s up to you!

Here’s how it works:

Step 1. Pre-enroll today by filling out the information below

Step 2. Complete your FunPass online at My Cruise Manager and enter your MasterCard card to be used for your onboard purchases

Step 3. Get ready to set sail for FUN!

Your onboard credit will show up on your Sail & Sign account the first day of your cruise.

I think that there is another promo out there with Mastercards which has to do with new bookings. Although when I was asking about this one they said- oh- as long as you aren't paid in full you can qualify. Wish I knew what that a one was.
