fergusonvt Posted February 29, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 29, 2012 Nice story. I would love to live near a port and see the ships all the time. Doesn't matter what cruise line it is I've always been fascinated with the ships. They are truly beautiful.

MzzGriz Posted February 29, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 29, 2012 Thanks for the link to the story (we'll be on the Star this weekend!) I found the part about the harbor pilot most interesting (especially how he departs the ship!) On our Alaska cruise last year, this happened directly under our balcony room. DH was somewhat restless so he was looking out at the ocean as this event began to transpire. After hollaring at me to come look, he caught the end of the transfer on his iphone, so the video isn't great, but it was really cool to see it happen! Mom2B&Z Posted March 1, 2012 #13 Share Posted March 1, 2012 Thanks for sharing! We watched the carefully orchestrated dance for about an hour while waiting to disembark in January, and the tall white hat of the chef inspecting the produce was impressive :)

Swells1 Posted April 27, 2012 #19 Share Posted April 27, 2012 I'm always interested in what happens behind-the-scenes of a cruise ship. That would be a reality show I'd actually watch. The logisitcs of it all is really remarkable.
maitlandmom Posted April 27, 2012 #20 Share Posted April 27, 2012 Thank you for sharing that. I always find it facinating how they can turn those voyages around so fast and seamless.
