On board the Eurodam!!

Just finished a spectacular dinner in the Pinnacle Grill and had to quickly post and say how much we are enjoying the cruise. We have open seating and have had some lively and fun dinner partners. DH and I are a bit discriminating when it comes to food but must say that we have enjoyed each meal in the dining room and most especially tonight in the Pinnacle. For those who worry about the recent negative review please don't let it influence you. The ship is in great condition, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the entertainment has been just that - very entertaining! Heading out to the Piano Bar now, so will write more later or when we return home. Too much fun to miss right now!!

Great to hear from you while you are on board! What was your favorite in the Pinnacle? I will be traveling on her with a group of friends on her March 24th cruise and have reservations in both the Pinnacle and Tamarind. We'll be following your posts closely and are looking forward to info on your cabin, entertainment, even the vibration issue, and of course if you have a veranda, whether there is any issue with smokers.

The best reviews are done while on the ship and we appreciate the time and effort you are putting in to your fellow CC members.

Thanks for reporting on your cruise. We loved the Eurodam, and couldn't possibly believe that she had gone so drastically wrong in the six month's since we were last on her.

Ok, well I didn't get back to writing again because we were too busy having fun! Will try to answer the questions some have asked to my original post. Didn't make the Tamarind and even cancelled a reservation in Canolotto because the times available would have conflicted with the evening entertainment. I do recommend making reservations online early to get the times you want, we didn't so missed some. In the Pinnacle my husband had the lobster bisque and caesar salad. He raved about both! We eat out at nice places frequently but would rate this dinner as high or higher as any we've had. We both got the filet and lobster which were superb. The filet was fork-tender. Dan doesn't usually get dessert but decided to try the vanilla souffle which he said was simply the perfect end to a perfect dinner - on all levels. I had the triple creme brûlée and was just as wonderful as I remembered it.

The entertainment on board was really fun and first-rate. Don't miss Roger Carr in the Piano Bar, he really gives everyone a good time. (I was the Queen of the Piano Bar and on my second night there he said oh good, I've been waiting for you, lol.). Lots of singing along and fun in there. As for the Main Stage shows we both thoroughly enjoyed them. These kids really work hard and are very talented. The sets and costumes are very intricate for a cruise ship and we went to each one. The magician was terrific, great smile and funny and don't know how he does what he does. Even made his two doggies appear!

We were in cabin 7138, an aft with a veranda - a lounger, chair, ottoman, and cocktail table. Lots of storage room and the suitcases fit under the bed, yay! Our steward Riza kept it spotless and always gave us fresh ice throughout the day. There has been a lot of discussion on these boards about the vibration on this ship. Well, we never felt anything out of the normal the whole cruise but we did have some rough water a couple of days in the Atlantic. Nothing too bad, and still no vibration, just hard to walk a straight line down the hall. Maybe that was the Cosmos, lol. No idea why people complain about it , maybe they don't realize that ships move on water with engines.

Really enjoyed the veranda and didn't notice smoke from anyone while out there. The only time we smelled smoke was in the casino where it is allowed, and there were just a few who smoked anyway.

MDR food was delicious too. Particularly liked the braised short ribs and the French rolls in the bread basket, and excellent French onion soup too. All of the breads are wonderful on board, and so are the burgers on Lido and at the Half Moon Cay barbecue. Bar service was excellent and you can get a 2nd drink for $1 during Happy Hour. Dan loved the blue coco mojito, and I loved the above mentioned cosmopolitan. Servers knew your name and were attentive without being pushy.

The only negative on the food side is the breakfast meats. Dan loves good sausage but this wasn't even close. It was inedible, to him. I like extra crisp bacon but although I kept explaining what "crisp" means, it still showed up floppy and undercooked. The eggs Benedict though were very good, and also the omelets.

Food on the Lido was terrific and very handy if you are at the pool, or hungry after the show. Very large selection to choose from - yummy bread pudding, cream puffs, and ice cream cones too. Ate way too much and now will diet for the next month!

Gosh, this is pretty long and I'm typing on my IPad while we're driving back to VA. Could almost be a full review. One last general comment about the ship: the size was just about perfect, wouldnt want to walk any further than we did, from aft. The only thing that the ship is missing is a larger atrium area which is nice to sit, drink, and people-watch. We did decide that the Ocean Bar fit that bill fine and the combo played good music for dancing. And instead of separate shops which I prefer they have one big room for everything.

But it was a great cruise and we'll definitely sail with HAL again. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Thanks for your review.

What time is happy hour? I wonder if you can use your prepaid drink card for the happy hour deal. Also, is the Ocean Bar the place to go for good cosmos? I love them too.

Hi there! Happy Hour was in two bars we frequented but may have been in others too. Crow's Nest HH is from 4:30-5:30pm, and Ocean Bar from 6:30-7-30pm. Remember that the two drinks need to be the same type so you either shared two or hold two for yourself.

Glad to hear you had a great cruise! My dad, brother & sister-in-law from Canada were on the same cruise and can hardly wait to hear what they have to say.

We met a lot of Canadians on board. Maybe we met them too, lol. Hope they enjoyed it as much as we did. The only thing that could have improved our trip was if the casino was friendlier to us, lol!
