Fat Jimmy's BBQ- Carnival Breeze

Recommended Posts

Dh & I will NOT be debating semantics while we are digging into Fat Jimmy's version of some "BBQ like food":D.

So are you saying you don't like this option they are including on the Breeze?

I would try it. Gonna be awhile before I ever set foot on the Breeze. But my wall of trophies says I know a little something about cooking meat:D

Well for us californians.... BBQ can ge done with charcoal and or wood, Grilling is done with with propane and Smoking is done with wood and Ive used all 3:D

On the ship they use charcoal

What is funny is my family use to have a restaurant in Sunriver Oregon years ago called the Chuckwagon and one of the best sellers was TX bbq ribs recipe from the late 70's.

The place my aunt got the recipe from was the Goode Co BBQ...... So I will respect Tx BBQ but there are lots of ways to cook deadmeat and make it tasty;)

Besides my own BBQ that is about the only other BBQ that I will eat in the state of Texas.:D

Fat Jimmy’s C-Side BBQ – Reminiscent of a backyard barbecue, this complimentary open-air dining venue located on Promenade Deck offers a mouth-watering array of grilled favorites, including barbecued chicken breast, kielbasa, Italian sausage, and Fat Jimmy’s signature item, pulled pork sandwiches, along with traditional sides like baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw and mini-corn muffins.

Hmmm, Fat Jimmy looks a bit like John Heald. Coincidence?

That is not BBQ, it is a BBQ like food. Just cuz you slap some sauce on something does not make it BBQ.

To BBQ you must use wood smoke, and a slow and low heat to cook the meat.

And if you're from Eastern North Carolina, NO SAUCE........only vinegar!!

I'd still eat it though!

Absolutely correct. It is actually grilled, but who cares if it tastes good.

For us southerners, BBQ is pork.... not how its cooked... lol. A grill (no matter whether you are using charcoal, wood or propane) is what you cook it on.

Op, thanks for posting. My hubby is going to love that menu!!!

I make a delicious pulled pork bbq in my slow cooker that if you did a blind taste test it would be really difficult to tell the difference. And, no, it's not sloppy and goopy with ton's of sauce. - It's served on the side, just like a proper bbq from a smoker.

So how do you classify a beef brisket?

(Just further proof- Texas is not a southern state!)

As brisket.... not as BBQ.

Just for the record - I was born and raised in California... lol. I got an "education" when I moved to Alabama and then to Tennessee.

Both states refer to pork as BBQ (doesn't matter whether its pulled or chopped)

This is much ado about nothing. This "BBQ" already exists on the Dream and Magic because they realized that they had not made the common areas big enough on this class and the buffets were severely over crowded. Now they have finally given it a name and would have you believe that it is a new venue for you to enjoy. More shameless marketing crap!!!!!!

Don't see any mention of a Carolina style mustard-based sauce. I'm gonna need more rum-runners:D:D.

Let me clarify "Carolina" bbq. I believe what you are referring to is the South Carolina style. There is also the vinegar based Eastern Carolina style. Western Carolina bbq has a tomato based sauce. I like them all, but I'm partial to Eastern Carolina bbq. I probably wouldn't eat at Fat Jimmy's.

Fat Jimmy's and Oceanside Barbecue serve completely different food.

Sliders on one and pulled pork and sausages on the other.

I think it will be all the same soon
