Couple answers to ?s from Carnival PR. Still a few outstanding.

1. Is bottled water included?

Yes.

2. Are sodas (and water if it's incl) part of the 15 drink maximum?

Still confirming how the cap works.

3. How will they enforce everyone over 21 in the cabin buying the package?

They know your age. You can't opt in unless you're 21.

4. Is the $10 limit with or without the tip added?

Pre-tip.

5. Can you get more than one drink at a time?

No.

6. Is this service limited to certain bars/areas? (What about dining room & show lounge?)

Almost certain the answer is no.
Classic drinks are $10.50 anything with two liquors.. like margaritas that I like.

Long island iced teas I would think are classic drinks.. though I only pay attention to margaritas..

the blue margaritas which dont taste good to me are cheaper.
Classic cocktails are only 8.75... including the Ultimate Margarita, it's over 10.00 with the 15 % grat. There are only 4 drinks listed on the below bar menu over 10.00. Patron Reposado @ 10.95, Hardy XO @ 12.25, Dow's Port @ 10.50 and La Crema Chardonnay @ 10.75.

I tried the package on a recent Celebrity cruise and it was very nice. The package took the "stress" out of worrying about your bar bill so we just enjoyed the cruise that much more. I think we saved a little ... I usually don't drink those more expensive coffee type drinks but with the package I went ahead and indulged ... so it was a nice treat.

We ordered the Celebrity's drink package as well.

I like that they offer different packages and not all in the stateroom have to order the package.
I ordered the premium and my DH ordered the classic.
Nice that we didn't have receipts to keep track of nor a hefty bill at the end of our cruise.

Carnival should not make EVERYONE in a cabin order the package if only one traveling guest whats it and another doesn't.

It wouldn't work for us either. I don't worry about our bar bill being too high. It's never been close to that amount. The most we've spent was $200 for three of us on a five-night cruise, and that was with my MIL this past spring break. I told DH not to let her take an open bottle of wine back to her cabin. He finally let her do it the last afternoon--and she polished it off.
Most of the drinks I like, have two liquors and they all jump in price to $10.50, the classic drinks.

So, I am thinking there probably are not enough drinks that cost exactly $10 to worry about.. they are either under $10 or they are classic drinks and $10.50?

Have you seen a lot of drinks priced right under $10?

As far as enforcing that everyone is charged in the cabin over the age of 21, I dont see how this would be hard to do. They know who the minors are in the cabins, its encoded into their S&S cards too .. if you choose to sign up .. the charge goes against all adults in the cabin at the time of purchase. simple.
The classic cocktails are 8.75+ the 15% makes 10.06.

I'm not sure where you get 10.75 per drink from. If you check the bar menus you will see where they are listed as 8.75.

I drink these every time I cruise. I like to use the 5$ match play coupon on the craps table. (which you get if you take ur receipt to the cashier in the casino showing your purchase a classic cocktail)

Totally Awesome! It is nice to have options...hope to get that in December since we have a few sea days! $50 a day isnt so bad when my drinks are $8.75 pretip. That is only 5 for the whole day. We had the all inclusive bar card on Carnival Glory in 2008 when we had a large party for my Mom's 50th and it was worth it to us. Though yes, all people over 21 had to get the card and we had to have at least 30 people, but it was well worth it to us!

I see the issue with making everyone over 21 get it. The cards arent meant to share, tho you could find ways around it. But it does such when traveling with people that dont drink cause they wouldnt want it which would make you not be able to get it!

But the option of having it would be nice...I would buy it. And if you dont want to buy, dont!

BRING IT ON CARNIVAL! We are coming in December for Mom's 54th Birthday!!!

And what will happen with the drink coupons then....?

Also, for the $50 a day, you're looking at, for example, about 6 mojitos a day or about 9 beers a day. I tend to drink beer most of the day, but not that much! On our last cruise I think we averaged 2 drinks a day each. So this package wouldn't do for us.
This is not fare if both people in room have to buy pkg. My DH can drink alot more than I can. It would not be worth it for me. I can see why they make both buy it though. There is always the people out there trying to beat the system....I am curious how it works out.
I feel the same way. I get that people will try to slip their cabin mates some of their drinks but I don't know if you should require both people to buy the package. Neither one of us are big drinkers but honestly I might consider it because heck...it's vacation :)

My sister and brother in law are going with us and they will certainly take advantage of the package. 6 drinks a day during vacation isn't a lot for him and it would most likely save them money.

I'm curious to see how it goes since we will be on the ship in October.
If they want $42.95 per day plus gratuities, they're not talking to me.

Jim
Who drinks That much, even sodas and juice added? Most of the West coast cruises are too short to make it worthwhile, even if everyone in the cabin can share.

yea, they're basically talking to people ordering 5+ drinks per day, at which point carnival will actually be losing money on the proposition.

It's an extremely steep price tag for drinks. with the "service charge" just drinks are $50/day. add to a (low priced) cruise at say $80/day +port charges + taxes +tips.....

I could book an all inclusive hotel for $100/person/night including all drinks/tips/taxes not sure where ccl is buying alcohol that they have to sell it so expensively.

I was also thinking that if someone who doesn't drink is Forced to buy a package, that wouldn't work (charging $150 for 3 people- some who can't drink). I would rather the package be split by those who want it, like OBC.

Without reading all 8 pages of this thread, this would be a deal that we would be interested in trying. My questions are:

1. It says available at the Casino and Atrium bars. Does this mean that every time you want a drink you have to go to one of these bars to retrieve it, or can you be served at the Pool bars by a waiter as well.

2. How will they identify those who are participating? Information found on computer with your folio number?

3. Must this be purchased at the beginning of the cruise for the entire length of the cruise, i.e.: 4 days, 7 days, etc. or can it be purchased on a "per day" basis?

For me, the best thing about it would be not to worry about what my bill would be at the end of the cruise. I could budget for the expensive ahead of time and not have to worry about bringing soda, buying drink coupons or bon voyage liquor. I guess the convenience of it might be worth $50. Maybe they picked San Juan because most people fly there and then they don't have to stop and pick items up on there way to port.

What I liked about Celebrities drink packages is they have a non-alcoholic regular and premium package. I don't drink alcohol much, but I Loved the premium non alcoholic package. I could get sodas, smoothies, non-alcoholic mixed drinks, coffee drinks, bottled water, etc. I definately did get my money out of it!

I think the problem they may have with this is if you make the cabin mate get one also, what if they do not drink alcohol? If they had a non-alcoholic package they offered also and the cabin mate had to get a package of some sort it may work out better.

They don't mention specialty coffees, or premium orange juice. Nor what types of wine you can order.... or max of the drink price. (price range)

Carnival didn't think it though.

I have been discussing this at length with my fiance , and we still cant justify the program on this cruise and we drink alot. But with so many port days and booze already in room , it wont make much sense

I do wish they had different programs levels, now that would be awesome but HEY at least its a start.

On any other 7 day cruise I would do this in a heartbeat

The drink Price must be under $10 , Any drink they have ( wine , beer , mixed drinks , shots , Not sure on the coffee yet) So if the wine you want is $10 or under you can get it as part of this package. If there is a wine that is more you get a 25% discount on it .

Also dont add gratuity the drink to get your price. You have allready paid the gratuities , So when figuring if a drink is $10 or under , whatever the listed price is , is what they go by

Hope I made sense

Maybe you should have cut and pasted the next sentence too:

"All wines by the glass, beer and individual cocktails priced $10 and lower are available within the program."
