These are the closest decent value-priced hotels to the port:

Holiday Inn Express Convention Center or Airport/Cruise (2 locations)

Hyatt Place 17th St./Convention Center (low prices on valuetrips.com)

Hampton Inn FLL North Cruise Port on SW 12th Ave

Best Western Plus on State Rd 84

We also like Embassy Suites, but your "average" price may be higher than mine  - a budget range (and remember Jan is prime tourist season in south FLA as lots of folks head south) would be helpful. ;)

www.sunny.org provides info on most FLL area hotels and motels. Good luck! :)

I didn't realise January is prime season for South FL. thanks for that useful info.

Sleep Inn in Dania is less than 10 minutes from Port. Very clean, good price, almost free parking ( think is $40 for the 7 days parking), free shuttle, free breakfast (good) and you have Wallgreens, Publix, restaurants and many more just at a crossing of the street.

ok so I am a map challenged person . I just can't get my bearings. Any info on Hampton Inn Commercial Blvd Tamarack or Hampton Cypress creek? Anything to do near these two, How far from Port everglades.

These are very far from Port Everglades (12 miles) and there isn't much to do near them. If you have a car it's fine but I wouldn't stay at the one on Commercial Blvd...it is across the street from Lauderhill, a high crime city. If you take a taxi, expect to pay about $40 each way.

We tried the Crowne Plaza because it is the local Hertz drop off point and has a shuttle to the berths. In fact the lines were so long for the shuttle we took a cab - only a few bucks.

Certainly not up to other Crowne Plazas I have stayed at.

Hi

I can book this hotel with points how much will it cost

For a taxi from the port.

I cannot decide if I should hire a car as we come off the Eclipse

Saturday and sail on the Ind o t Seas on the Sunday.

Also would the Ft Lauderdale beach be a better location.

Thanks

Which Westin?

One is about 12 miles north of port in the middle of no where (so to speak) and you would definitely need a rental car. The problem with that, though, is they charge for parking which negates any savings of dollars or points.

If you're asking about the Westin Ft Lauderdale Beach at 321 Ft Lauderdale Beach Blvd that is a much, much better location and you won't need a car. Besides, if you stay there a taxi from and to the port is less expensive than parking.
