KLStrategies Posted May 31, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 31, 2013 Ten day until out cruise on the Freedom of the Sea and the price dropped again. I could upgrade from a hump balcony mid-ship on the 7th deck to a junior suite about half way down the hall (towards the bow) still mid-ship on the 9th deck for $10 per person, TOTAL! I don't know this ship, any advise? Thanks in advance!!!
nancronin Posted May 31, 2013 #2 Share Posted May 31, 2013 I would be on that in a heartbeat - good luck and enjoy!

ginrom Posted May 31, 2013 #4 Share Posted May 31, 2013 I would upgrade immediately for a JS at the same price. Call now!!! :)

Rare DragonOfTheSeas Posted May 31, 2013 #6 Share Posted May 31, 2013 There is always a lot of talk about cabins on the hump. I think they are over rated. Go for the JS. You will love it.
foolishmortals Posted May 31, 2013 #7 Share Posted May 31, 2013 Did you upgrade to the JS?? I would have! $10 per person total for a JS is a great upgrade price! We've stayed in JSs on the Freedom and her sister ship, Idependence, on Deck 9 before and have been very happy with our rooms.
Beth C Posted May 31, 2013 #8 Share Posted May 31, 2013 $10pp for double cruise points is a steal... a bathroom you can actually take 3 steps in for $1.42/day is priceless :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
KLStrategies Posted May 31, 2013 Author #9 Share Posted May 31, 2013 I'm working on it. The price jumped up and now is back down. On hold with RCC, 15 minute wait time. Cross your fingers & toes everyone!
labeachcomber Posted May 31, 2013 #10 Share Posted May 31, 2013 I agree, $10 for a JS is incredible. Probably half the ship is trying to call to upgrade at that price! Hump balconies are nice, but do you really care if there's maybe an extra 20-30 square feet out there? I'd say no. But the extra room in a JS would be much appreciated. NathanJax Posted May 31, 2013 #11 Share Posted May 31, 2013 JS all the way... that is a steal.
KLStrategies Posted May 31, 2013 Author #12 Share Posted May 31, 2013 Finally got through to someone and he states only a couple rooms available, an interior & ocean view. There is discrepancy with website possibly due to others booking or changing rooms. Will keep trying!! Thanks for the input!
ShawninFL Posted May 31, 2013 #13 Share Posted May 31, 2013 Are you able to just upgrade through the website? I've never tried it after final payment, so I was just wondering. If possible it may be quicker.

If you can, call book and release the hold and have them book it for you. :)
KLStrategies Posted May 31, 2013 Author #15 Share Posted May 31, 2013 No can only book a new cruise, but I am not able to see the JR suites as available. I'll keep trying because you never know. Won't complain if not though, I only have 9 days, a great balcony room and its a DD15yrs & mom trip! :D
dasi11 Posted May 31, 2013 #16 Share Posted May 31, 2013 As mentioned above, start a new reservation 24 hour hold to keep the room, while you are on hold on the phone.
ARCruisinNana Posted May 31, 2013 #17 Share Posted May 31, 2013 Great deals like that can disappear very quickly as there are probably very few cabins available for upgrades:( If there aren't any JSs listed on the website, there aren't any available. Frankmac Posted May 31, 2013 #18 Share Posted May 31, 2013 For an upcoming cruise I have noticed that a guaranteed balcony cabin price has dropped to less that we have made final payment for an interior cabin. I rang RCL Uk for an upgrade and after 24 hours they have come back to say that it is not possible as we have already received OBC of $100. Any views on this? Booking rules are different for European bookings.
Piepkorn Posted May 31, 2013 #20 Share Posted May 31, 2013 To the OP - If you have a second phone, have them 'call you'. I've heard people have been very successful with this. :D
mspink98 Posted May 31, 2013 #21 Share Posted May 31, 2013 Try looking for a different number of guests, also. A couple of years ago someone on CC mentioned that they had cancelled their JS on our next cruise and on a whim I went to look for prices. Nothing showed up when I searched for 2 pax, but it did when I searched for 4. No clue why, but I was able to call and upgrade for about $50/person, which was well worth it. For $10, it's an absolute steal! Hope you can get it!
Baseball fan Posted May 31, 2013 #22 Share Posted May 31, 2013 Keep trying and keep watching prices. We had an E2 balcony last fall. Upgraded to a JS and then was able to move to a GS. Both times the pricing I caught was short term and didn't last long. Good luck!

Robkat Posted May 31, 2013 #25 Share Posted May 31, 2013 Love, love, LOVE the JS's! And the price you're trying to get ... terrific! We've been in them on FOS, on deck 9, several times, and think that's a great location. Hope it works out for you. Please let us know the outcome. Have a great cruise wherever you end up.:)
