"Carnival Live" Concert Cruises? Cool.

I applaud Carnival for adding these extra choices to these select cruises..

 

Going to sit down with DW and maybe book an extra cruise, we wouldn't have taken this year, to get to meet at least one of these bands in person...

 

Would much rather having these extras on select cruises than a stupid steel drum band at the pool....:rolleyes:

 

Can't wait to see the Cozumel offerings get posted...

I could not agree more!

The steel drum bands do nothing to enhance my sailing experience. They are not (to me) entertainment.

The bands will feature both male and female lead singers, a more choreographed, themed and diverse set list, and increased interaction with guests. Nine Carnival ships currently feature the new bands, with implementation across the full fleet over the course of this year.

You are not paying for your entrainment !!! You know it is not going to be $20.

Then bring the house bands back to were they were before the cuts. Great.

Try yo bring the shoes back to before the cuts. Really great. Carnival will say they are giving you great entrainment,,, BUT you are paying for it.

THEY ARE NOT ADDING THEY ARE CUTTING BACK. Charging more for that cruise, and cutting one show per cruise

 

Which part is the cutbacks? Offering additional options for more entertainment? More entertainment (free) is added ? Missing the cutbacks in your logic....btw what is bringing back shoes all about?

Some - Royal , NCL, have some shows that you must prebook - Blue Man, Hairspray, Ice show or whatever - no cost but need to reserve a time/seat or else show up and go standby hope for a seat

 

NCL has cirque dreams, which comes with dinner for an upcharge

 

So = you made the statement, please back it up with facts -? I get sick of seeing so much misinformation around here

 

Royal does this a few times a year.

The actual cruise is higher priced and you pay for certain concert venues. Oh and BTW, Kid Rock, New Kids on the Block...just to name a couple.

 

I get sick of Grumpy Gus' complaining about everything Carnival does on here :rolleyes:

A lot of critics say Carnival is going downhill. I disagree. I think they are constantly trying to improve. 2.o updates,new restaurant venues, new ships, entertainment, not all things everyone would like but you can't please everybody.

Hopefully, they'll be able to get more acts "on board" in the future.

To me this silly move is a way to get more $$ - charge for these so called entertainers and then jack up the price of the cruise

 

what are people who do not wish to see them going to do? No show for them . As someone pointed out - arrival in port is later that day...

and price of cruise just went up - you pay for ticket on top of that

 

Glad you find it to be silly...so that tells me that you will be choosing a cruise that doesn't offer this. I don't feel that people need to get on here and downgrade people who would find this enjoyable. Read the original comment....do you think that was necessary?

...I generally agree with your comment. While I'm not a fan of their Playlist Productions, I understand that it is still on a trial basis. I sincerely hope they bring back the full production shows.

Thanks for the link. Looks like this is strictly for shorter cruises on the fantasy class ships - except for the Breeze. We've been on plenty fantasy class ships with the shorter itineraries. We're aiming for bigger ships for at least 6 days on Carnival now. Oh well. Maybe it will evolve. Still think it's a great idea as an option for entertainment. I hope it's well received.

If I wanted to go to a concert I would go to a concert.

 

Give me the steel drums, the awesome Philipino bands and the live orchastra INCLUDED in my fare over state fair caliber entertainment that I have to pay for any day. :rolleyes:

I so hope they bring back Kathie Lee Gifford to perform! She would be perfect.

 

I remember so well seeing her perform 25 years or so ago in the Rainbow Room high atop Rockefeller Center. She was charming and attracted a wealthy audience of bejeweled New Jersey women and their long-suffering husbands. I paid well over $100 for that, even back then.

 

If they can attract stars like her, I predict the shows will be a big hit.

John Wrote on his Facebook page that the ships would be staying in Port until 1 AM. He also wrote that there would be comedy shows that artists and lots of other live music. I see no evidence that the price of the cruise has risen since this was announced. It definitely is not cruise cheerleader because that would

be a happy page and I am sure we would not find you on a happy page now would we.

It makes sense that they'd add it to the shorter cruises in the initial go 'round; they already have the reputation of party cruises and they're cheaper so it's more likely that someone will be influenced to book it on short notice to see the concert. So many people plan their vacations much farther in advance than they can for this program with this announcement coming so late, that they need to put it on the cruises that people can afford without digging too deep.

 

I do wonder why they left it until now to announce like this. Three months isn't very long to get people to change their vacation plans.

The cruise I booked yesterday magically turned into a Carnival Live cruise today! Although I'm personally not interested in seeing the featured artist (Olivia Newton-John), I imagine that there will be folks booking the cruise now just to see her. I do look forward to spending more time than I expected in Nassau, though.

 

Had I waited until today to book, I would have booked the Jennifer Hudson cruise on the Ecstacy instead, but flights are booked so it's more trouble than it's worth to change.

 

At any rate, I think it's great that the Carnival Live option is available to those who can take advantage; my family is looking forward to our first Carnival cruise!

To the best of my knowledge one by one they are eliminating the full production shows and replacing them with playlist and hasbro.

 

John has indicated that major improvements in entertainment would be coming. This doesnt seem to be major.

I have a couple of issues with this latest development.

 

No assigned seats. Will I have to be in line in the morning for a 9 pm show just to get a decent seat? I am short and sitting in the back behind lots of tall folks is not fun. This means I miss a day in port because I am waiting in line.

 

Show is only 75 minutes or less. I go to a lot of concerts and I expect a rocking show to last more than 2 hours. I saw Bon Jovi last year and actually had to leave after 3 hours because he was still rocking and I had to work in the morning. I paid about $50 so not much more than the cost of one of these shows.

 

Just some questions I would have if booking an expensive cruise just for the concert offered.

Something else just occurred to me. They should want to attract people in their 20's and 30's to cruising. Younger people generally will spend a lot more than older folks.

 

Most of these artists have been around for longer than their targeted customers have been alive. Kind of strange to me.

 

Bringing back the better cover bands is an excellent idea. Hopefully they will put them in a lounge and not outside the casino like they do on Conquest class ships
