Spring Break in Texas: Review of Navigator of the Seas March 9, 2014

Recommended Posts

We have cruised on the Navigator twice' date=' but never on the hump. It looks like it should be a great cabin and balcony.[/quote']

We have had that JS on other voyager class ships. Loved it!

The wife and I will be on NOS for the May 4 - 6 nite cruise. We live in the Houston area so anyone with questions about the area please ask. I am extremely curious to see your review and all pictures. I like to know as much as possible before boarding.

Have a great time!

We moved out of Houston just before they started sailing out of Galveston :( we still have lots of friends in the area so I've been enjoying the conversation about All the local places to visit

What is kolaches?

What!!!!!! I didn't realize people don't know about kolaches. Although I'm Czech and live near West, TX so I've grown up with them as a staple. You have to have some Krazy! I'd even mail them to you.

So excited to hear all about your cruise. Trying to book one on the Navigator for 2015 so I'm trying to get all the info I can now. It'll be our first cruise with the munchkins along. Kind of nervous about that.

Happy cruising

Was on Navigator Feb 5th, First one after renovations. Great ship. Good luck on bar service by pool. It was not great. Also in Cosmopolitan bar at night, we waited at the bar for an hour for one drink. Hope they have gotten the kinks out

Thank you for the pics Kevin's! Since we left late we had to get to our dinner reservations (although MTD was quite empty despite telling us there were no tables).

I am using the unlimited wifi. $189.95 for one device. Speed is pretty good so far. I'll do some tests with Facetime, Netflix, and try to stream some Showtime.

Just some quick notes right now....kind of tired.

Dinner - It was OK. Service was a bit slow, but the waiters were very friendly. They changed the peach/blueberry crumble since our last cruise in August. It's not as good :( Which is a bummer as that was my favorite dessert.

Casino - They do have a good selection of newer slots and all new blackjack tables. They are still hand shuffling and using a shoe (at least on the table we were at). Sadly, they got rid of the match play coupons and replaced them with a 25% discount on tournaments (excluding poker). Not nearly the same value. They've also increased the cash withdrawal fee to 5%, but we have our sticker and don't pay. It's great for my wallet that they don't have my most favorite slot (Cleopatra II). That will save me a few grand lol

There are a LOT of Texans! It's a bit overwhelming. I'm not a native Texan, so the friendliness can actually be a bit too much at times. I know....I'm weird.

Lots of kids....but so far no problems. I find Texas kids to be so polite anyways, so I wasn't anticipating any issues. No running and screaming....but then I avoid the pool and the arcade :)

Bar service in the casino was a bit slow...but I had free drinks, so I don't mind.

What else can I say quickly....

LOVING the room! However, the closet space is comparable to the JS. We'll see how the upgraded toiletries are tomorrow.

I LOVE the center hump location! So close to everything...up one floor and we're at the Windjammer and down a few and we're at our dining room. No wandering hallways.

Everyone we have encountered has been very friendly (people onboard and the staff).

Have a good night and I'll do a full recap tomorrow along with whatever pics I took today.

OH...Day 1 = Mojo Day in the dining room

We sail 2 weeks from today so I will be following. Like others I'm looking forward to pics of the menus and possibly compass schedules. This will be our first time with late seating in the MDR. I cannot eat Gluten so we will probably eat in the MDR most of the time, maybe one specialty dining.
