Vision ~ B2B ~ 5 Nights ~ July 21st & 26th: My Diary

Recommended Posts

We went from the casino to the 70's party that was held in the Centrum. It was the same as always.....but always fun! The cruise director, Steve, was a ball of energy and he had the place hoppin'!

I can't believe that we actually stayed up for something!! I was proud of us! We retired when this was over. We had to set our clocks back one hour tonight, which we did before we went to bed. Great first day!!!

Tuesday ~ July 22, 2014 ~ At Sea

I'm an early riser and my usual morning routine is to go to the Concierge Lounge for coffee, quiet time, and to do some journal writing. I was the only one there this morning. We had very calm seas last night . I was surprised to see so many people up and about. Running, walking and all over the ship. It seemed to be a pretty healthy crowd for the most part. The passengers seemed to be a good mix of families....not too many children though....middle aged....young couples....not too many seniors. Honestly too many seniors is way worse than too many children....believe me!! And I AM a senior!

When John was ready...we went to breakfast. There is a designated area of the Main Dining Room for D, D+ and P folks. It's on Deck 4 Starboard. (Suite guests have their own special area on Deck 5.)

We ate breakfast here every day. Most days the service and food were excellent. A couple of days were a little slow, but we were usually not in any hurry. We always meet a lot of interesting folks here and enjoy lingering over breakfast and coffee and enjoy having good conversation with those that we sit with. We joined a table of two other couples this morning....one from New York and one from New Jersey. We had a very nice conversation with these folks and couldn't have asked for better service.

Ryan and Clifford were our servers here most every morning of the 10 days we were on board. I like that we have the same servers, because they get to know our likes and dislikes and we don't have to keep explaining that over and over again. They had our orange juice, skim milk with ice, half a grapefruit all ready for us each morning. They were super!! We really appreciated their service.

Ashton had cleaned our cabin while we were at breakfast. That's always a plus!

We decided to go up to the Concierge Lounge to hang out for a while. The CL on this ship is up in part of the Viking Crown. Great views from up there. We had the place to ourselves. We did some reading, had some more coffee, and there are always cookies there!!

There is always a good view from up there:

The pool area looked very busy. We stay away from there. You know my thing about crowds!!

After a while, we moved down to Deck 5. It was a little livelier down there. Lots of people watching to do. Steve, the CD, was conducting a "Thriller" dance class (one of three) and he and the passengers will perform this on the last night of the cruise. This looked like fun. Steve is really good at this!

These two ladies were having a good time with the dance moves up above!

After that, we watched a rehearsal of the aerial act in the Centrum. We are usually someplace else when they do these performances, so it's good that we can watch the rehearsals.

Enjoying your review. I sail the Vision in Nov for the repo from FLL to Tampa.

Oh....that sounds like a great cruise. I wish we could do that one, but the timing is not good for us. I know you will enjoy the heck out of that!

We went back to the Park Café for lunch today. It was nice.....not crowded at all....although the Solarium pool area was very busy.

After lunch, I wandered around a bit. I checked out the shopping area:

Jane-- I am so glad to see your review of your B2B on VI. Excellent as usual. Was fun to read about the sailaway as some of your other friends and I were posting with you on FB while it was going on.

Hey Sherri! Yes....that was funny how we were posting during that time. Glad you got to see the sailaway.....finally!!

Jane,

Thanks so much for sharing your experience on the Vision. I always enjoy reading your reviews, but especially this one. I'll be sailing on the Sept 1st cruise to Bermuda and had a few concerns because of other posts I've recently read. After reading your review so far, I feel that all is well!

I look forward to reading about the rest of your cruise.

Thanks again,

Mary W.

Franca.....always good to see you around here! Can't wait until we can cruise together again!

Mary.....I sooooo wish we could go on that Sept. 1st cruise with you. It looks wonderful. Yes......we had a wonderful experience on this cruise. I've chatted with others that did not.....but things happen. I don't think you have anything to worry about, though!

Great review! I was on the Vision in May. We had a JS fairly close to yours, but sadly no big wrap balcony! It's fun seeing your pics, they brought back nice memories!

Yes....it was hard giving up that balcony for the second cruise! We had to move three cabins away. It wasn't too bad, but I sure missed that balcony.

JANE!! Welcome home :D You're bringing me back memories of that incredible cabin :(;) I loved that "secret" staircase up to the the entrance of the spa lol.

Thanks again as always for your reviews, really appreciate you (and every CC reviewer) for taking the time and effort to do this.

After lunch' date=' we went back to the cabin to unpack. On this ship, they deliver the luggage for deck 8, at least, to the centrum area of deck 8. I knew this from before, so I went there and found our luggage and water immediately and a cabin steward brought it all back to the cabin for me.

I'm looking forward to reading your review, Jane :)

Do they deliver luggage this way on Grandeur, too?

Hoopster.....Thanks! We were really spoiled with that balcony.

atlaturne.......please don't worry! We had very few problems....but things DO happen. But I know one thing......I know enough of the staff and crew, that if you have a problem.....they will do everything in their power to help you.

Kelly....this is the only ship that I know of that does it this way. Actually.....I kind of like it. I can get my luggage a lot faster. The last time I was on the Grandeur, it was delivered in the usual way.

With the design of the Vision Class ships they have a 'double atrium' on passenger decks. The aft luggage is delivered to this area behind the elevators that face the centrum, but in front of and to the side of the stairs. This would be for sections C/D baggage. I have taken my luggage from this area as well.

Section A/B luggage is delivered using a 'back-of-house" series of elevators they have forward on Vision Class. Here the luggage is held in the area in front of these elevators and is in a crew area.

They use this forward area the night before disembarkation to take down all luggage.
