Hotel recommendations in Seattle

Taking a cruise that starts in Vancouver and ends in Seattle next year on Solstice. We will be spending the night in Seattle the day we pull in. Does anyone have any hotel recommendations with easy access to the light rail there?

Hi,:) I have stayed at both The Westin and The Renassiance in

Dowtown Seattle before. Got them both for good prices on Priceline.

 

I would suggest you go over to the West Coast Forum. There are loads

of threads about hotels on it:)

 

I don't know where the Light Rail is located so can't help you with

that part.

I don't know where the light rail is either, but the best hotel in Seattle is Inn at the Market.

We stayed at Cedarbrook lodge after our cruise to Alaska in May.

 

They have free shuttle to light rail and airport.

We had a nightmare at the Westin in Seattle. They don't have enough elevators, tons of people were trying to leave to board their ship, we were trying to get to the airport, and the wait times were --no lie--30-40 minutes! One guy was hauling multiple sets of suitcases down the stairs from the 17th floor! They mishandled it terribly, no notification, no staff guidance, nothing. We were not in a position to haul our suitcases down 20 flights of stairs. Calls to the front desk went unanswered or unresponded to. So be very careful before booking there, I'd like to spare someone the disaster we went through.

My parents stayed at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel and at the Executive Hotel Pacific after and before their Alaskan Cruise. They absolutely loved the Sheraton Seattle and swore that they would stay there again, if they ever visited Seattle again. They were unimpressed with the Executive Hotel Pacific which was slightly cheaper, but in the same vicinity.

Hi, sorry you had issues:eek:....I had a good stay so I would recommend

it.......guess it is like everything else. Some good experiences, some

not good. I had no elevator problems.

 

And there is a really good restaurant right across the street too:D

I wish I could remember the name of it......been a few years since

I was there.

Guess we'll have to wait and see ...we're booked at the Westin later this month. I will definitely post if we experience any of the same elevator problems because carrying luggage downstairs is NOT an option. Perhaps a difference in the time you tried to leave?

The Mayflower Park hotel is a classy property, perfectly located and adjacent to an entrance to the Westlake light rail station. Good restaurant and bar on premises, many more within a block or two.

It is a great place! Free shuttle to airport, light rail train and southcenter mall

 

 

We had East-Side & Flat Rate For Hire pick us at port & maybe 20 min ride to hotel.

 

Rate includes great light breakfast and they have snack available for the guest

eg: water, chips and Häagen-Dazs ice cream!

 

Rooms are big and great place to unwind before or after your cruise!

Cedarbrook Lodge was built as a corporate conference center for Washington Mutual Bank, back in the good old days when they were printing money in the basement. They failed in 2008, and Chase Bank took over what was left. Chase soon decided they didn't need a conference center in Seattle (seeing no good reason to venture west of the Hudson, I guess), and sold it off to a company that operates high-end hotels. They did some remodeling, hired a chef for the restaurant who'd cooked at the French Laundry in the Napa Valley, and opened the doors to the public. Within a couple of years it was getting named the #1 hotel in the world in Expedia and TripAdvisor surveys.

For people not familiar with this area:

 

If you want to be near the core of downtown Seattle this is not the place to stay. You can take the light rail for the day to downtown.

 

The southcenter mall is near but this place is to relax and unwind.

 

On Friday's you can catch a shuttle from southcenter the Tulalip Resort casino for $10.00 and the give you a voucher for lunch or discount on dinner. The bonus is a Great outlet mall next to casino.

it's a lovely hotel and a lovely setting, but if you plan on sightseeing in Seattle, allow for a 1 hour commute each way ..... 15 minutes to get to the Light Rail station and another 40 minutes on the train. The same as any other Seatac hotel.

We're staying at the Crowne Plaza for our upcoming trip. Hotel is at 6th and Seneca. The light rail has a station at 3rd and Seneca (University station)

We are currently planning on using the light rail to get from the airport. I'll let you know how it goes.

 

I've also stayed at Cedarbrook Lodge, and it is a great location. It would be great if you are looking for a spot to relax before your flight home, but if you are wanting to explore the city, it might no be as convenient. due to the time it would take you to get to light rail and then in and out of the city proper.

I went to Trip Advisor to see if anyone else had posted concerns about the elevators at the Westin and some of the most recent posts were not favorable. So after summarizing the Westin reviews with my DD we changed our booking to the Sheridan. This was our first choice originally based primarily on location, but they had no rooms available for 1 night when we booked months ago... two night minimum. Hope we made a good switch! The Sheridan is actually costing us more than the Westin ... go figure!

We've stayed at the Mayflower Park several times, and it is currently our favorite hotel in Seattle. Anyone who is interested in a hotel close to the light rail needs to consider this property. And we love both the cocktail lounge and restaurant (Andaluca).

We booked this hotel for our September pre-cruise stay - mainly booked because I am a Hilton Honors member and got a free room. Coming in on Friday for Saturday embarkation and plan to see a few things in "downtown" Seattle - the space needle and Pikes Market at minimum...

 

Anyone know of this hotel pros/cons? We are just a few blocks from the Seattle Center/Space Needle/etc but I am not sure Pikes Place Market is within walking distance.

 

Thoughts good or bad will be appreciated - we are cruising out of Pier 91 the next day and have reservations with Shuttle Express for 4 adults with all the baggage from hotel to pier - $30. Seems to be about the same rate as a cab....

Your hotel is close to a grocery store and restaurants so it's a pretty convenient location. I've only read positive comments on this forum.

As you said, the Seattle Center/Space Needle is only a couple of blocks away. From there you can hop on the MONORAIL for a few bucks. That will take you downtown to Westlake Center in 5 minutes. When you disembark at Westlake there are exits to 3rd and 5th Ave. Go to 3rd, and that will put you 2 blocks from the Market which is on 1st/Pike.

Go to the Market early ... the crowds are overwhelming by 11am and it really detracts from the fun of it. From the Market you can also access the waterfront....

And if you feel like a cab back to your hotel, it will only be around $10-$15. Seattle is pretty compact.

A cab for 2 to pier 91 is about 18-$20. A minivan would probably be close to $30. You're only 5 miles away. If you don't like the timing of Shuttle Express, a cab will give you the ability to go when you want to go. Have a great trip!

We have a private town car with Seattle Express and they are picking us up when we requested at 11:30 am so I think we did go on that one as well.

 

I have been lurking in this forum and appreciate all the knowledge you have shared - I love these forums!
