Rebel with FTTF

So my wife purchased FTTF, and encouraged the rest of our party too as well. So then we started reading about all the backlash from other cruise passengers, who don't know about the program (or weren't as timely). As well as the Platinum and Diamond members. Is it wrong of me to look forward to passing up people and hobknobbing with the early embarkationERS? LOL. I mean it's only $50!

I can't wait until someone tells me off.

I'm with you! I have terrible back and leg issues and live in chronic pain 24/7. I don't ask for special favors, but I DO purchase FTTF for $50 so that I don't have to spend as much time standing in lines and can take my bags right to my stateroom since I can't lug them all over the place.

We did FTTF on the cruise prior to our Platinum status cruise and it was great not having to wait in those huge lines. I never saw anyone getting upset, but then again I didn't look, as I really didn't give a flip.

You should look forward to it and enjoy it! I'm Platinum and I could care less if a few people pay to get ahead of me in the line. No one knows what your status is unless they see your paperwork anyways. And if they get upset, just give them the Miss America wave and keep on going :)

Enjoy it! Hold your head high as you pass those waiting for a tender, own it, you are somebody! Saunter up to the guest services desk, you dont need to run, you have your own line, and the best part, watching those schmucks toting around their luggage for three to four hours on embarkation day, while you can walk right into your cabin. Dont be upset at all, you have very smart wife.:):p

Until I reach Platinum, I will buy FTTF every time I can. I haven't run into any people like that and if I did, I certainly wouldn't care what they think. They are probably not very nice anyway and are just jealous of others.

Buy it and have a good time. It's not like you're smuggling alcohol, smoking on the balcony when it's banned, or any other illegal activity. It's a perk that is offered by Carnival and is 100% legit. If you don't buy it, someone else will - guaranteed.

I'm pretty much the opposite. I hate confrontations (I'm slightly more brave online than I am in person - but who among us isn't;)) and would most likely get embarrassed and tongue-tied or even gobsmacked depending on the level of obnoxiousness from the confronter.

I,too, have bought FTTF for my next cruise and I'm mildly dreading anyone being nasty to me about it.:(:o Even though I would be doing nothing wrong by using the VIP GS line, for instance, if someone started "calling me out" for it, the first thing that would happen is I'd blush from hairline to neckline.:o And it's doubtful if I'd do a good job of defending myself after that. And any unpleasant comments, etc. from fellow passengers would most definitely 'leave a bad taste in my mouth' for sometime afterwards.

I'm definitely not looking for a chance to be "in your face" with my FTTF perks. I just want to enjoy them and all the other aspects of my vacation without encountering any nastiness from anyone.:o

Only time I had a problem was when I was at GS. I was helped and as I was walking away I heard the platinum guy behind me start complaining about me to the lady who just helped me. She politely told him I had FTTF and was in the right line. Sheesh, he spend extra time there just being a jerk. I just laughed at him.

Don't worry about it. I buy FTTF every cruise. Those who complain since they feel you are buying the benefits they feel they earned. Just remember it is a win/win for both since there are things platinum and Diamond get soley because of FTTF.

Just say "I paid extra for my place in line" and smile. So why didn't THEY pay for Faster to the Fun? :-)

I became Platinum the old way (I'm still 10 days from being Platinum in the new system) and I would have totally bought FTTF if it was an option before I was Platinum. I love the FTTF system--seriously. It cuts down on the number of people in the ViP check-in area because some ViPs used to game the system with the now-closed credit card loophole. Plus, I now get to go to my cabin as soon as I board and get situated (that wasn't a perk before FTTF). Of course, there are some who think there is a pecking order--it's all a bit silly really. Enjoy your cruise!

Bottom line, platinums and diamonds paid one way, FTTF people paid another way. Who cares. You paid for it. It's yours.

Do what is best for you and your group and if others don't like it...tough luck for them! It's open to everyone so if others don't do the research and don't know about it...it's on them not you. And if the VIPs take issue with it...again, that's their problem not yours.

Enjoy the privileges with FTTF. No one wants to drag that luggage around and you've paid for the privilege so you don't have to! Somebody has to be the first one on the ship, why shouldn't you have the opportunity? (Yes I know the boarding order so I know some other will board before the FTTF's.)

I will not give you a hard time, I'll smile and know how excited you feel. Happy sails.

As far as boarding first, nobody will really know that you have FTTF. We had it for our Freedom cruise out of FLL. VIPs were in a separate room. We had Priority cards and sat with the rest of the people in a huge room. They called for VIPs, weddings and handicapped. Then Priority. All of the VIPs were already in line to board or were already onboard. They had no idea of who was behind them.

That holds true with tender boarding too. After you once leave Guest Services to be escorted to the head of the line for the tenders, nobody will really know what color your S&S card is until you "Ding" out.

To me it's not worth the money.

The only thing I DO LIKE about FTTF is when it does piss off people who whine about their entitlements. :D

Enjoy your FTTF, the complainers will secretly love it as well since it gives them another excuse to start every post with "So I am Platinum..."
