Can someone that bought credits at the 10% confirm that they actually had USD obc's when they arrived.

My sister called the other day & the guy on the phone swore her credits would be in CAD as this is what the receipt showed. She is a bit concerned that she hasn't actually bought USD credits at a great rate & they will get converted on the ship at the current rate.

My argument is that all OBC are in USD and you can't get CAD credits so the receipt is simply for what she paid (incl. conversion) for the USD. The emailed receipt is a bit confusing.

Thanks

Don't worry. Myself and many others have posted on here that there have been no problems. I purchased $1000 for our March trip. I had $400 refunded in US $ the last night at guest services.

I know its not there yet everyone but watch the Canadian dollar its slowly going up at 83 cents now. With the rise in oil prices could see it go up some more

We leave on Thursday for Florida and sail the oasis on Saturday and I have been so happy to see the dollar creeping up a bit!

Yes OBC is in USD.

I just wanted to let everyone know to set your onboard account up as a cash account and your won't be charged a fee to withdraw money from the casino. I was charged the fee once by mistake and she immediately credited back the fee to my account. Just remind them you have a cash account.

For our last cruise, I booked online on the RCCL website in Cdn $ then I transferred the booking to a U.S. online travel agent who gave me OBC. My booking stayed in Cdn $.

Sorry if this is obvious - but what are the steps to do this?

On Adventure this week. Just wanted to give a heads up. We have two couples traveling with us and have three cabins. I had called down for all of us to make the purchases of $1000 for each cabin. Called down in Feb for $500 and then again in March for $500 for each cabin. When we boarded the other two couples had cards on the desk showing the full $1000 but ours had only $500. Murphy's Law right? I called Guest Services to see if it was possible that it would show up within 48 hours as some have said. She said no that's not possible but to call back or come to guest services mid week with my receipt and they'd be able to look into it then. Ummm no thanks. I called Crown & Anchor and ironically got the same rep who processed the first purchases for us. She was wonderful and said she could absolutely see both purchases and asked me to wait on hold while she made some calls. She came back and said she had contacted a 'loyalty resolutions specialist' as she said this is the person who has authorization to contact the ship on behalf of C & A members. That person immediately emailed proof (yes I had brought my amenities receipt with me but they didn't want to see it till mid week) to the ship, told me to wait half an hour and then call guest services and if I had an issue to call C & A back. My additional credit was applied within the hour. Bit of a hassle but glad I called C & A right away.

We also set up as a cash account and I will be testing the casino cash withdrawal later today.

Thanks for the update. Please come back and tell us how the casino withdrawal went. We leave for Florida for our cruise departing Monday. Have a fantastic cruise! :)

Ok so I just went to the casino to withdraw cash. Since we had $1000 obc I had set it up as cash only. I went to the cage and told the fellow that I have a cash account set up and I'd like to withdraw $400 cash. No problem at all and no service fee.

Is it possible to see the amount of OBC on your booking? We have a B2B coming up and I put some credits on each at different times to the point of getting myself confused as to what I did do. My travel agent was able to send me a list but it sure would be easier if I could just see it on my booking.

I booked NCL, also at the 10% rate in Canadian dollars, and on the NCL booking I can see the amount of OBC.

OBC won't show up on Royal's website. However, you can request a copy of you booking invoice, and the OBC should show up there.

so if you don't set it up as a cash account what kind of account does it become? i'm new to rcl and am trying to figure this all out. I know I want funds to use at the casino, I am assuming the machines take money and not your onboard account card? I can phone in anytime and apply credits?

this is all very interesting.

I never did request an updated copy for our last cruise that we had the OBC. I had just assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that it would not show up on there.

As items, including OBC, can be purchased from Gifts and Gear by anyone I did not think that the OBC would show up. Do any other items from G&G show up on the invoice?

I know that when this thread started it was a big concern of everyone that we had no documentation of the OBC in US$. We only had a receipt for the amount that we spent in CDN$. Some even asked for supporting documentation in writing. Of it were to show up on the guest booking invoice I'm surprised (sort of) that G&G or C&A did not know about it.

It doesn't show on an an amended invoice. I asked for one to check. The only thing they could give me was the amenities receipt showing the Cdn amount paid. As was said above, early on someone received something in writing via email proving that he had purchase x amount of US $ but the rest of us only got the amenities receipt.

The slots only take cash, you only use your card to collect points.

All the cash account really means is that you don't have a credit card on your account. If you spend more than $500 above what your OBC is, you will likely be called down to guest services to put money onto your account before you will be able to continue charging to your seapass. When you check in online and at the terminal, just don't provide a credit card. The only reason I had set up as cash was so I could withdraw the money from the casino without the uplift.

We did end up stopping at guest services and giving our credit card info on the last day (we had already withdrawn our remaining OBC) because I upgraded from the soda package to the select package on day 3 and they had not charged it to my sea pass yet and I wanted to make sure the had our visa so they could. As a side note, I don't think they ever did!!

Actually, I've never purchased OBC from G&G, so I just assumed it would show up on the invoice. Like OBC from Visa points, OBC from booking on board, and OBC from WOW sales, OBC from shareholder benefit, etc. Sorry for the confusion.

For whatever reason this seems to be treated like OBC from a TA. It really would have been nice to be able to see it. For that matter why can't they list everything that you purchase, like shore excursions, drink packages etc on that one invoice.

Oh wait..I know..that would be too simple.

I got an email in writing way back in the beginning which I did print off only because at first everyone was scared that it wouldn't work out. I have seen tons of posts that it was there when they checked on. Not too worried about it . I leave next week so whatever happens I will come back to post regardless
