4 people in one room

Me and my sisters and my mother are going on a 7 day cruise on the Miracle. We got a balcony room because it was actually less money than an ocean view, which is what we usually get. But now I see that balcony rooms are actually smaller than ocean view rooms. How crowded will it be? There will be 2 twin beds, one upper bed, and a sofa bed. Where will we fit all the suitcases? Will there be enough closet space? I should have looked more into this before booking but I wanted to book it before the past guest deal ended.

You should be able to get some of the suitcases under the beds. You may want to bring extra hangers and we usually take 1 or 2 hanging organizers to help with small things, one usually hangs in a closet and one from a hook on the wall. We've take our 2 boys and stayed 4 in a room but only for 4 nights. Have a great cruise!

Thanks, I'll make sure to bring extra hangers.

It will be tight when you all are in the room at once, especially when trying to get ready but if you can plan a routine it will be fine. Look into utilizing the spa for an extra bathroom if you all need to shower at the same time.

Also you can cut back on what people bring if you discuss ahead. When I went with many mom and sister, one of us brought lotion, not all three, etc. We consolidated as much as we could. The over the door organizer helped us immensely. Using the spa was already suggested and I second that.

Have fun!

Thanks to both of you. I'll make sure to look back at this thread right before going on the cruise.

I've cruised with my sisters and it's fine. The balcony is great to have more space- usually two would sit out there with a glass of wine waiting on the other two to get ready.

The upper bunk made us feel like kids again- and whoever was the least drunk had to climb the ladder of death each night. Lol!

Suitcases can be placed underneath the beds.

I would recommend extra plugs (for straight irons and curling irons) also, make sure to talk to your sisters and mother. I don't think you guys will need 4 curling irons lol

Figure out a plan for getting ready for dinner. My three roommates and I came up with a great system. There were three different mirrors around the room. While one is showering, the other three each had their own make up stations with the mirrors in the room. Note: it was four of us in an INSIDE cabin, so it was tight, but we managed. :)

Enjoy your cruise!

It will be horribly crowded...and will feel more and more as the days go by. Suggest pricing a balcony for two and an interior for two across the hall. That was cheaper than just a balcony for four on our last cruise. Then you have twice the space, two bathrooms etc. Heck I would pay a couple hundred more for this. Everybody can get keys for both rooms to enjoy the balcony as desired.

The shoe bag on the closet ( or bathroom) door is a great space saver. We also buy the collapsible cloth like boxes at the dollar store. They fit on the closet shelves and we each have our own color. The balcony will really give you the feeling of more space since you can take turns dressing or relaxing while waiting.

I'd also suggest pricing two rooms. We have always stayed in interior cabins, so the pricing may be different, but our last cruise we only paid $5 more per person to be in three rooms with two people in each room that if we would have done a room of 4 and a room of 2.

This cruise, there are 7 of us going, so we are having to do rooms of 2, 2 and 3 and the three person room is actually more per person than our rooms of 2. I find that very strange, but it's the way it worked out.

On the Miracle, an OV will be the same size as the indoors part of a balcony. Both are 185 sq.ft. Larger ships have larger OV rooms, but not Miracle.

It won't be so bad. At least the main beds will not have an upper bunk over them. There will be floor space, the same amount of floor space that you would have if there were only 2 in the room. Where to store stuff could get tricky, but it can be managed. I would still price out the possibility of getting 2 rooms, whether it be 2 balconies or 1 balcony & 1 interior or 2 OVs or whatever. If the extra cost for doing any of those is too much, then you'll still be alright. You just have to work at it a little more. I agree with using the spa showers upstairs to help. We have done that before.

I've done it with my dear family dd17 Ds 19 DH 51& myself , assign closet, drawers , shells and it's very doable.

We have cruised many times also with 4 of us in a balcony cabin. Utilize the drawer space under the sofa - it is a very large drawer, and one dd nicely fits her stuff in there each time. (there is usually an extra quilt and pillow in there for the sofa bed - the steward can/will remove them) We use every space - and put the dirty laundry in the nightstand (there is a door on it that opens to a spot) until we send it out. (platinum perk) The balcony can work as a "waiting room" while 2 or 3 change! Use the fitness center showers also - they are actually nicer than the cabin showers! Same shower gel and shampoo is in there. Have a great cruise.

I have cruised with four women in an inside. Your room sounds larger than that was if you have a sofa bed. It wasn't a seven-day, so we had fewer clothes, but we had more than enough space. We hung as much as possible in the closets, hanging sweaters over dresses, etc. We did bring extra hangers. We put the suitcases under the beds and left things like shoes that were rarely worn inside them. Those who had more toiletries brought them in hanging bags.

It sounds like you've shared a room before and didn't find it a problem, so I wouldn't listen to people who recommend against it. We never had any issues with having one bathroom because we all just naturally awoke and showered at different times, and changing can be done in the room, especially with three sisters and their mom.

We did a 4 person balcony on the Liberty. Actually booked as a Family Ocean view but they took away some of the room and turned into a balcony during the drydock. It was decent and on the Spa deck so I showered there often. We also booked the 4J inside with deck view at the front on the Breeze. Also good. Both of these had an single sofa bed and upper as the 3rd and 4th person. I am toying with booking an inside Spa 4 person room on the Breeze but this is the kind with 2 uppers. Is this layout smaller with bunks over the king bed? Kiddos will be 14 and 16 then.

After you've worn your clothing, immediately place it in the (empty) suitcase under the bed. That way, you won't have dirty clothing taking up closet space, and, at the end of the week, you're already packed!

Also, maximize your shelf space by tucking your books/magazines behind the TV.

You can also free-up a little more shelf space by putting your life vests into an empty suitcase.

Over-the-door hanger is a MUST, as is double-hanging your clothing. (Two items on one hanger.) You can also have the room steward remove the robes from your closets.

We had the same thing happen to us on the Conquest. Booked as a family OV with floor to ceiling windows, then it was converted to a balcony before we sailed; paid no more money.

I had an inside spa room on Magic (sister ship to Breeze), but we only had 2 in the room. The room is quite small. I had a tape measurer with me, and it measured to exactly 150 sq.ft, while the balcony room that you had on Liberty would certainly measure to 195 sq.ft. (indoors part only). Most balcony rooms measure to 185 indoors. No sofa at all on the Breeze's inside spa room. If you keep the lower beds together, there will be no floor space at all, and getting into & out of those beds is extremely tight, & you could be banging body parts, especially at night. It's much better to separate the lower beds to open up the middle of the room, making for much easier entries & exits. And each lower bed will have an upper bunk fully over it.

My sister, SIL, cousin & I shared an oceanview cabin on the Freedom in Oct. It was not bad at all. We put the luggage under the beds, in one of the closets and in the corner by the window. We only used the cabin bathroom but worked out a system. I received the cabin free from the casino.
