Great pics of the Norway fjords Terry. Looks like you've got a wonderful trip. Cheers

THANKS for the nice comments! Here are a few pictures of the birds, wildlife, etc. at and around the North Cape at the top of Europe. Fun and interesting areas. Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

In the small fishing village of Gjesvaer near the North Cape, here was the harbor scene as we had our picnic at an open table before going on our charter boat to the bird rock areas. That tree trunk/limbs shown didn't actually grow there. It was brought in and placed there. This far north, nothing major grows and the land areas are very much a type of tundra. Extremely interesting and beautiful area!:

This is the first of many puffin visuals, showing their bright orange feet, plus their cute and unique beaks.:

We found five seals on this rock. They slid off of the rock, into the water and then peaked their heads up to say hi to us.:

These are some of these Cormorant black birds at their perching area on this island.:

On the way to Gjesvaer near the North Cape, here was a small part of the large herd of reindeer we discovered on the way to our boat charter. They believed that all of this territory, including the road, belong to them. The young baby reindeer were especially cute!:

Above the Arctic Circle, this is the “Land of the Midnight Sun”. This picture was taken at 11:47 pm on the upper deck of the Silver Cloud showing wonderful Cruise Director Jimmy Kovel checking out the views. The sun is going down, but it never sets at this time of the summer. It’s 24/7 light.:

Yes, very nice guy. Hard-working, friendly, etc. On our smaller ship, I had lots of discussions with him during our cruise. He shared info well and was very helpful.

THANKS! Like the high quality of the pictures you have posted. Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Just back from a June 7-19 Solstice cruise from Barcelona that had stops in Villefranche, ports near Pisa and Rome, Naples, Kotor, Venice and Dubrovnik. Enjoyed great weather and a wonderful trip. Dozens of wonderful visuals with key highlights, tips, comments, etc. These postings are now at 16,386 views for this live/blog re-cap on our first sailing with Celebrity and much on wonderful Barcelona. The Celebrity Solstice is positioned in the Villefranche harbor with this beautiful setting surrounding the ship.:

As we sailed into Venice, here is a tighter shot of the main square and the crowds that were there around 1 pm on June 14. Next are a couple of other views from that great sail-in to Venice and the sights of various interesting buildings and church. Love Venice so, so much!!:

In Dubrovnik, we started with a local cab driver who gave us a “panoramic tour”, including crossing this unique bridge near the main cruise ship docking area. Then we drove up and up through narrow twisting roads to the high point overlooking Dubrovnik and near the cable car high station. From this point, we could also see part of Bosnia and and Montenegro. The “super star” view was down below with this angle of the harbor and walled city. Beautiful!!!:

Overlooking Positano, this is the view as we dined, family-style for lunch, at the Elisir di Positano per La Caglioita. The views here were super and the sun came out in strong force as we enjoyed our three-course lunch with local wine and drinks.:

From high above Kotor, this is the view of the fjord bay with the Solstice in prime position to soak up the spectacular sun on our visiting day there.:

When the sun was setting as the Solstice sailed from Rome to Naples, here was the visual on the back lawn on the ship’s top, back level. Dramatic and beautiful!!:

Took me a while to find this thread - needs resurrecting, IMHO!

Anyway, just got back from the Baltic on Jewel of the Seas. One I'm quite proud of, because it's quite different - long exposure of the wake on a very calm Baltic about 1hr after sunset:

Also a "picture postcard" photo out the back:

All such great photos!

Rex, did you use a tripod to get that long exposure of the wake?

Thanks.

Yes, tripod, most definitely. Took a reasonably decent one with me - was not flying, so luggage space not a problem. Only ever actually used it on the balcony in the end - probably wouldn't take one if luggage was an issue.

I actually got exposures from 5s up to 20s, but thought the 8s one looked best. But the water was so calm even the 20s showed no blurring of the horizon.
