10 day Elation or 8 day Conquest

I am looking at 2 cruises in April of 2016. One is the 10 day on the Elation from San Juan to Jacksonville with stops at Barbados, trinidad & Tobago, Granda, St Lucia, St Kitts and St Thomas, and the other is a 8 day on the Conquest from Ft Lauderdale to Aruba, Curacao, Grand Turk and Domincan Republic. We have done the Conquest journey. MY concern is the smaller ship . Our last 7 cruises have been on the Conquest class or the Breeze. We have been on the Fascination several times but only for a short cruise (5 day). Which one would you pick?

The ports of call on the 10 day are intriguing, we like Fantasy class ships so that one gets our vote. As to the balcony question - the suites have them plus on a 10 day the extra elbow room would be a big plus if that's an option for you.

Both good itineraries for days traveled!. Id weigh how many new ports you'd get to see and make your descision from there. I sailed the Elation recently and I dont consider the interior or overall look of the ship worn as I was surprised at how clean everything was including all the upholstery and tilework. IMHO a cruise over 7 days is a big deal and I would prefer a ship with more options but I honestly don't think I could consider a 7+ day cruise on a fantasy class ship unless the itinerary hit stops down the coast of south america or something!

 

Having been on a ship with 2.0, I missed that on the Elation with quite a few other things and the lines for some of the food stations were very long during peak times where as on other ships, there were more venues to choose from and lines werent that long.

I am a balcony person but I know the Elation is coming to me in Jax....she has no balconies but she be my last minute getaway cruises I am fine with no balcony. If I were in your shoes.... think your only int he room to sleep, shower and dress you don't need the balcony....if you don't need the steakhouse....10 days is better than 8 days. Many ships don't go to Tinidad/Togago and Granada, I would pick the Elation.

I'm all about the ship, but I'd be more inclined to do the 10 day just because it's a unique itinerary. You can do the 8 nighter year round. The 10 day may be your only chance to hit all of those islands. Trinidad and Tobago is rarely visited by any cruise line.

We would also choose the Elation doing the 10 day cruise. The itinerary would be our reason to choose that cruise since not many ships goes to Tobago/Trinidad for Port stops. I would not let a class of ship deter us from seeing some Ports not usually visited.

 

The Sunshine cruise we are taking next year is going to Ports not normally visited like Grenada, Tobago/Trinidad. Booked that cruise because of a unique itinerary, not the ship.

It sounds very cool, both trips...love the length and Itinerary of Elation,,,,I bet the dining will be nice on a longer one..and those ports sound fantastic...Yes,,,no problem with Fantasy class fun older decor and super staff on most of these ships. Elation has beautiful lobby I think. They still have Spas, Fantail Serenity, Lido, 2 show rooms for activities and entertainment, libraries for quiet games and reading and several nice bars, specialty coffee and treat place, free ice cream...and cabins with that famous 185 feet size with bigger showers...and nice bedding and beds and room service!!..Oh yes..shops, promenade, piano bar, disco, casino and tea time, more reasonable ship tours and a disco and that exclusive fancy Chef dinner should one wish...and a few upcharge items like better lobster and steaks at main restaurant now....that is plenty with all those items and a chair can be found inside or outside for quiet space or sea views away form pool...it is a thumbs up!!

I love the itinerary of the Elation. But that ship....I don't know about that. It was the first ship I ever cruised on, and I was SO impressed at that time. Now I am not sure I could do it. How many sea days? Ten days is a lot on that ship. But then...that itinerary!

As you can see from my sig, I have sailed on the Elation seven times and will be doing my eighth next month. This includes three B2B during which time I did 9, 10 and 10 days! I never got bored and enjoyed every minute of it. She is a beautiful ship! It is true that the tile in the bathroom is dated...SO WHAT! Who cares? I personally try to spend as little time in the bathroom as possible while cruising.

 

I can't wait to hear how it went next year.

We are looking at doing two Journey Cruises BTB - 10 different & unique ports, 7 sea days starting in New Orleans 4/2 and ending in Jacksonville 4/23. Would 21 days on the same boat in the same cabin make me crazY?
